Erase bad connotations in the minds of the public, start fresh with new talent that don't have multi-million dollar contracts, etc.
The Hulk just did exactly that.
Yes, indeed it did. However, it was one laughably bad movie that could have been a series (Thankfully it did not) that got rebooted.
At this point, would a great sequel not be enough to recover the series?
EDIT: The more I think about it, the more I'm actually liking the idea of a reboot. While they could do a sequel and recover the series, it's probably a better decision to reboot the series if Sam Raimi is no longer behind it.
Um....wow. Not sure if this should be taken as a good thing, or a bad thing. On one hand, I'm sure that a reboot of the franchise would end up being a much better film than the cluster-☺☺☺☺ that was Spider Man 3. On the other hand, I seriously doubt that a reboot would live up to Spider man or Spider Man 2, both of which are fantastic movies.
I really doubt that Spider Man 3 was bad enough to kill such a good start to the series of films that they would have to start over from scratch (Add the fact that such a short period to reboot the whole franchise probably wont create such a great film). Also, why reboot a franchise when the first series is still fresh in folk's minds?
I laughed so much during this 70 minute review. The voice he used is perfect for the type of humor he's going for.
I honestly have to agree with him. The prequel Star Wars movies are ☺☺☺☺ing miserable. I'm sure you could argue that his technique in trying to prove just how miserable they are is flawed, but honestly, then you've just missed the point (And perhaps a lot of laughs as well). He's pointing out that all the magic that made the first three Star Wars movies so enjoyable and fun is not present in the prequel movies, and he could not be more correct.
Not that big of a surprise, as he did narrate Power/Symphonic Metal band Rhapsody's Symphony of Enchanted Lands II - The Dark Secret. He even sings in one of the tracks, and his voice is far from terrible.
This could be awesome, but it's definitely going to be cheesy (Just listen to those myspace tracks).
Edit: Sorry, Rhapsody are now known as Rhapsody of Fire.
I hope this game is going to be as good as the first one, what do you think?
I am a huge fan of the original Dead Space, and despite it's flaws, think it is one of the best video games I've played. I also think that Dead Space 2 is going to be even better.
The new setting is going to lead to more varied scares and new types of horror. While the first one was terrifying, the designers only really scared with claustrophobia type scares. The Ishimura was just so confined. Opening it up should prove to be more interesting.
I also like that we will see more Humans fighting for their survival against the necromorphs and we'll actually get to know Issac.
SLANDER! deliverance, damnation, ghost reveries, and watershed are transcendent. still life reigns supreme, but like I always say, the worst opeth album is superior to most other bands' best album.
Watershed, really? Only the first two tracks hold my attention (They are pretty damn good though). I was being honest in the previous post, though, I don't think that any of those albums are worthy of (at least my) favorite albums of the past decade list. Still Life and My Arms, Your Hearse are my favorites by them and anything they have done since just pales in comparison.

finally someone who knows this band! they are absolutly amazing! i seen them last year with Swollow the Sun...amazing!
Insomnium are my favorite band, and Above the Weeping World is perhaps my favorite album. Seeing them with Swallow the Sun must have been incredible, I envy that!
I do believe the US release date was in 2003 but i could be mistaken, either way you are right....one of best metal albums ever....IMO
Still Life was released on October 18th 1999, not in the decade this thread is covering. It was re-released in digipack form in 2003, which is probably what you are thinking of.
This is too bad, because since it actually was not released in this decade, Opeth has gone ten years without releasing anything worth a "top album" list.
My favorites of this past decade:
Insomnium - Above the Weeping World When I think of Melodic Death Metal I think of this album. This is perhaps the most complete, most perfect MDM album I have ever heard. The instruments flow and combine perfectly in both folk and heavy passages to create a dark, forest-y atmosphere while the lyrics are utterly sad and hopeless. MDM perfection.
Enslaved - Vertebrae
For the past few albums Enslaved have combined Viking Black Metal with a Pink Floyd-esque Progressive sound, but Vertebrae is the best, and latest of the bunch. With a noticably lower use of the Viking BM elements and a higher use of progressive elements and the addition of post-rock like moments, this album has some magical moments. My personal favorite song from Enslaved, Center, is off of this album. Perhaps the best Enslaved album, ever.
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
This album is incredible, but hard for me to describe what exactly it is that pulls me in so hard. I'd have to say it's epic instrumental moments intertwined with beautiful clean vocals and grim harsh vocals and pagan lyrical content. To me, this album is a very uplifting experience.
A few others of note: Primordial - To the Nameless Dead
Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera
Edge of Sanity - Crimson II Rotting Christ - Sanctus Diavolos
Vader - Litany
Anaal Nathrakh - Hell is Empty, and all the Devils are Here
Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait
Scar Symmetry - Pitch Black Progress
"For the part of man
Is to take the somber path
Stumble in the dark
Stray amidst the dust and ash
Like forgotten ghosts
Drifting in the driving wind
Dashing toward the void
Whirling blindly through the night
Like water fling from the highest cliff
We fall
Lunge
Swirl
Dissolve
And fade away
Down
In to the unknown"

While they are very dark and hopeless, simply typing these lyrics up does not do them justice. One must hear the song and listen to the delivery of the vocalist to truly feel the meaning and power. Sure, it is metal, and the vocalist is indeed yelling them at you, but he's clearly not just reciting a piece of paper. The emotion he puts into every word is just....powerful, and without the harshness of his vocal style I doubt it could be pulled off as well as he does.
Agreed, anyone want to recommend some viking black metal to me? All I have of that stuff is Falkenbach.
Enslaved
Moonsorrow
Windir
Bathory
Manegarm
Wyrd
Equilibrium
Borknagar (The Olden Domain, S/t)
Ensiferum are a good choice but they do Melodic Death Metal/Power Metal with Viking style lyrics.
I cannot stop listening to this band.

I love this movie just as much now as the first time I saw it, when I was a kid. Once a Disney kid, always a Disney kid, I guess.
Yes I am a huge fan of Disney.
Runners up: Pans Labyrinth, Requiem for a Dream

This is a very, very good choice. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one, highly recommended.
It has not been mentioned yet, but Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series is a solid (can be tiresome in the middle of the series for some) choice.
