I find Choke in the sideboard interesting is that just for Fish or every matchup vs Islands?
I did a little more testing and still want to replace the 3 Pillar in my main yet I don't really know what with yet as I've tried Seal, Tarfire and more copies of other cards in that slot and haven't really had anything stand out.
This is what I'm playing this weekend. Only concerns are the Pillar of Flame and the exact sideboard +/- I have to work out. Other then that I'm pretty happy with this list.
there was only 59 people at the event but it's still a cool list. Adding blue for Vapor Snag and Cloudfin Raptor. Vapor Snag is Fish tech and is pretty decent but when you are playing red there are better options and just adding blue just for raptor isn't good to me. I do like Briarhorn though and didn't really think about the evoke creatures before.
I said I wanted to try Vexing Devil and a deck that posted results with it makes me want to try it more. Gruul Zoo is already ultra aggressive, it levels Experiment Ones no matter what and is 4dmg for 1cc essentially.
She's only good against control.. Their removal costs more, most importantly their Supreme Verdicts, Wrath of Gods and Cryptic Commands. She buys you a turn which is normally all you need. That said I hit up Modern events the last two nights and 4-0'd both with straight Gruul, I really don't think the white is necessary. It's less consistent, especially in that having white spells makes your BTE nut-draws a little worse. My list for these events was:
Definitely want to try BTS in the SB and the Sorceries in the main were experimental (Pillar is awesome though since Finks is a major roadblock). Other than that very happy with the deck.
I played GR Tron, Kiki Pod, the Mirror and Bloodhall Jund in the first event and Tron again, Twin, Tribal Flames Zoo and Jund in the other. The only matchup where I didn't pretty much just run my opponent over was Pod where I had to draw my sideboard cards in games 2 and 3. Cage won it in game 2 and I drew Combust and both Dismembers in game 2. I got to AoA Wurmcoil ftw in game 2 in both Tron matches, and even got to steal a win against Twin when with AoA when he tapped out for Twin. Blaze and Trail were solid in the mirror. Gruul Charm was also spicy a couple times just as a falter.
I agree with this, the deck just seems way more consistent and explosive as straight Gruul. I have almost same decklist minus Stormbloods but thought about adding a few in as I run 20 land. Do you mind sharing your sideboard -/+?
I also added in a single Pendelhaven because why not? Makes top deck Experiment One and Stormblood Berserkers not complete misses.
You also apply pressure with mass guys... what are they going to do bolt a token? They will gas themselves I do see your point though, but theres not very many other options besides like Kor Firewalker like you said. I haven't played the matchup what is the problem?
I don't like Searing Blaze so adding a Temple and Foundry for Helix might be the best option. I was also thinking about going Old School RG and adding Tarfire to keep it Gruul for consistency.
All of the lists showing up in PTQT8's are sporting Tarmogoyf/Seal of Fire/Searing Blaze.
I don't understand you guys not being on board with Tarmogoyf especially when we reliably put creature/land/instant into the gy +Seal of Fire Tarmogoyf can be 4/5 most of the time, with potential to make Experiments 5/5, how do you pass on that? It's also a way better top deck then any other option.

If you are playing white I suggest Timely Reinforcements as an option to RDW
Zoo, U Tron, Eggs, BUG
people are running Degalmer instead of Act of Aggression to deal with Wurmcoil Engine instead now.
I think Ancient Grudge and Gruul Charm are just better for us then Finks.
Enchantress Presence
Rishadan Port
Psychatog (Atog Cycle)
Tradewind Rider
