I'm not sure anyone really gets to play the game of "whose time spent on the MTGS Rumor Mill is more valuable." If you gain enjoyment from your experiences here, more power to you.
Agreed. The feedback here is usually pretty lacking. Claims to cards or decks aside, the people who comment on these forums are typically not very knowledgeable about the game or don't even bother to read the cards properly.
It's to close to the Orzhov Guildmage. Vizkopa Bank, while not the guild hall, is an extremely relevant structure to the Orzhov.
First ability is way Overcosted compared to Alabaster Mage. They should have given it deathtouch as well, but that second ability is great.
The first ability is overcosted because it comes with the second ability. Do you want wizards to hand you a win on a platter, or do you want to play the game?
I am still convinced it's a fake. The LLC is missing and the symbol itself is way off.
Its still the same size, difference is its got a white outline against a near-white background.
Edit: All cards have a really lightly colored type box, not just white cards.
Also, black outlines make drawings look bigger in general too because it makes the outline come to the foreground whilst white outlines move to the background. Its a common optical illusion.
For anyone doubting that damage causes loss of life, I recommend reading the reminder text on Bloodchief Ascension. If you don't believe the forum-goers here, maybe you will believe the cards themselves.
As stated here a billion times before, works out pretty sweet with Sanguine Bond. I think this card could have a place in my WB control-lifegain deck, considering it's already running Sanguine Bond.
How about some Hexproof? Her 5/5 Flying Hexproof friend seems like a thousand times more powerful being.
She doesn't need to be impossible to answer to be a good card. Sans Emrakul, there's really no cards in the game that aren't meant to have some kind of easily accessible response.
I'm certainly glad she can be answered. If she had hexproof she'd be an automatic addition to every deck... which means I would see her in every single deck I went against, which is always really lame. A more reasonable ability to give her would have been "~ can't be countered", but even then I don't see how that's necessary for her to be a good card.
Actually, I would argue she's a better designed card just being the way she is than with hexproof because it actually makes you think about whether you want to include her or not. Had she been given hexproof this wouldn't have been the case, just as if she had been a few mana cheaper. I think she's pushing it in terms of power; at 7-cmc she would have needed a considerably smaller body, I would say 5/5 and possibly a loss of flying to include her indestructibility ability, at 6-cmc that ability would not have been printed on a creature (but possibly on an enchantment).
I mean, there are cards that can remove her and stuff. She's not a catch-all card with a billion fail-safes like Emrakul was... she's just huge, evasive beater that makes everything you control indestructible.
Jeez, there's really no middle ground in these forums.
Actually, I should rephrase... there's really no card that WotC can print that won't make everyone complain about it for 80 pages.
The flavor text also bothers me; not that it's good or bad (it's poor in my opinion, but there's been cards with poor flavor text before), it just seems so disconnected from what's going on in Innistrad at the moment.
I have a gut feeling that the new Mikaeus will be dealing in -1/-1 counters, as opposed to +1/+1 counters. That would be too easy, though, and I'd be disappointed if that were the case.
I guess you won't be disappointed then, because that's not going to be the case at all.
I don't know where you got this idea from, because it's been established that they'd never put both of those counters into a single block. The closest they got was Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, and they had split the block in half.
Anyways, I get the feeling that he's going to be a mirror image of the original. Maybe have an ability like "T: Remove a +1/+1 counter from each other creature you control, then put that many +1/+1 counters on ~". It would be very handy in decks with undying.
Y'know, this would be really great if there was some blue or colorless way to give it haste when it hits the table. That way, even if someone did kill it immediately, you could still take something.
There is Thousand-Year Elixir from Lorwyn, which would also let you untap it once.
What would be the point of 1CMC removal spells if they never removed anything useful?
I think this creature's efficacy can be better measured relative to other cards.
Royal Assassin has a similar ability-- it taps for removal-- at 1BB. Forgiving color shifts, this leaves a 2 colorless mana difference between the two.
Is 1 colorless mana enough to make "T: Destroy target tapped creature" into "T: Gain control of target creature with power less than or equal to the number of creatures you control". I don't think so, that'd be overpowered... 2 colorless mana is as close as they can push it, in my honest opinion.
This card has clearly been balanced very carefully.
Why do factions in Ravnica automatically mean guilds? Why can't new factions have formed in Ravnica since the dissention? That'd make more sense to me than making "Faction v Faction" decks about guilds which no longer exist.
We have no idea what's going on in the Ravnica timeline since dissention.
I've thought about a reverse graft before. It would work better if you did it as graft is worded.
On Creatures:
Wilt X (This creature enters the battlefield with X -1/-1 counters on it. Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, you may move a -1/-1 counter from this creature onto it.)
On Noncreatures:
Wilt X (This permanent enters the battlefield with X -1/-1 counters on it. Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, you may move a -1/-1 counter from this permanent onto it.)
I bolded the words that are changed from creatures to non-creatures. Also, may is an improvement... without that "may" in there it'll take out your own creatures with 1 toughness and shrink everything else.
Another thing to note is that wilt is already stronger than graft because it works as removal, so you're gonna need to give wilters less counters than a grafter equivalent would.

I didn't say it couldn't happen, just that I thought it was fake for that reason.

I would ten times rather use Eel Umbra. At least, as far as protecting it goes, since it obviously doesn't grant haste.

Great in Grixxis colors.
Splinter Twin also works, but you don't get an infinite army of tokens.Whoops. Legend... I guess you can add Mirror Gallery to that.

Hahahaha, or a Gaggle of Geese for white!
Pseudo-Gothic? Looks Victorian to me. I'd never heard of "Victorian" being equated with "Fake-Gothic".
