Im playing G/B/W with Ob in it and nothing is better then a turn 3 ob with lotus cobra.
t1- birds
t2- play Cobra, play fetch(dont crack)
t3-Play fecth, Pop one fetch, play ob, crack other fetch, play explore.
Turn 3 9/9 and next turn you can play baneslayer, or admonition angel or plenty of other things.
Agreed turn 3 Ob is nice. What birds does is give you 3 on turn 2 and 4 on turn 3. And with a bird T1, and lotus cobra T2, you still aren't optimizing your mana.
Jorga, not needing lotus cobra, gets you 4 on turn 3 (without a land drop) and can power out an Ob without Lotus Brobra. That's why birds to me is blah.
Not to mention that worst case scenario Jorga is a Bird for green.
what happens when you face a red deck and u play cultivates (u get smashed because cultivates do nothing against aggro) anyways i dont like playing cultivate because its very slow and is a blank off of a wave.Explore is decent but i prefer battlement (Although i may drop KHE for explore). i think running creature ramp might actually be better against rdw because at least then u might be able to block there goldfish t3 win (Especially battlement)
Thats why Overgrown Battlements are in the side. Khalni Heart Expedition is nuts off of a Genesis wave because it comes into play with however many counters = the number of lands hit on the wave. Battlement comes in and doesn't improve your board position.
It goes without saying that when most of us Wave, we have ramped out... thus hitting a battlement is more or less like hitting an explore. (In the sense that we didnt want/need either)
Lastly Im not sure I like running Birds of Paradise over Jorga. The reason being that this deck can use both 4 or possibly 5 mana on turn 3 as opposed to with birds providing 3 possibly 4 mana on turn 3. (This deck does not run anything that costs 3... If I remember correctly.)
A cantrip is a spell, usually with a low casting cost, that draws a card in addition to its other effects and can therefore be said to replace itself. Cantrips are included in decks for varying reasons. A cantrip can effectively "thin" a deck, so more useful cards can be drawn faster, while at the same time not losing card advantage. It can also inexpensively increase the amount of spells played in a turn, which is a key factor in some decks. Some cantrips have additional effects, which can serve as an answer to an obstacle in play.
I would suggest starting with drafting. Not only does that help build yourself a base of cards... It gives you practice evaluating cards, seeing synergy between those cards, as well as basic deck building skills.
From there, the M11 box would be another good place to start.
Lastly... ASK QUESTIONS. By this I mean, go to your game store, watch people play, ask questions. If you lose a round in draft to a noticeably good/experienced player, have them look at your deck and help you improve. Typically the Magic community is one that wants to grow and will help anyone moving into the game.
Hey guys this is the list ive settled on after testing the last couple of days but the one issue im having is deciding what to side out in different matchups what do u guys board out?
So far I have been unimpressed by both Mindslaver and BoP. I would much rather have a Turn 4 Avenger then Mindslaver. Infact I beat UW in game 3 because I playe such an early avenger they couldn't come back from it. And birds just seems Blah.
There were only 4 rounds and I went 3-0-1
intentially drawing for the top 2 spots.
Match 1, Elves.
Game 1: blah blah blah. I get blown out monument style.
Game 2: Ob Nix turn 3, genesis wave turn 4 they concede.
Game 3: they roll out to 8 or so elves, I play turn 4 Baloth, and Consume the meek turn 5. Drop Ob Nix turn 6 and Crasher Wave the way home.
Round 2, Eldrazi Greeb
Game 1: ramp to Ob Nix, drain them to 9. Ob Nix gets Ulamog'd on my turn I genesis wave for 7 and hit Obnix and enough lands to win.
Game 2: Genesis Wave and win as they sit on 6 mana and I
crush them.
Round 3, U/W Control
Game 1: I go insane my turn 5 after they tapped out for Jace 2.0
Game 2: They volition reins my Ob Nix and play and blink a land to nug me lethal.
Game 3: Turn 4 go nuts with Lotus Brobra/Khalani and play Avenger. Titan on next turn and they concede.

Cultivate has been eh for me.
Obviously, OoMD doesn't actually cantrip, but does allow to dig deeper into the deck on many occasions is what I meant by that.

Best of luck to you!
Ascension
Rug Ramp
Girl Scouts (Elves)
Eldrazi Green
Not sure about its speed or ability, because I havent played with poison outside of draft.
Merely food for thought...
I was just curious as to your choice of Overgrown Battlement over Khalani Heart.
It seems that Khalani has tons of synergy with Ob Nix as well as Lotus Brobra.
I really like KHE in this deck and would rather have the Battlement to come in for the aggro match up in place of the Jorga Treespeakers.
Just a thought... I can list my deck that I played at gameday if it is so necessary. (went 3-0-1 intentional drawing for the win.)
So its limited testing but hey, you never know.
Just a thought.
Then eat ice cream.

Draw round 4 against Super Friends.
That being said, Jace 2.0 on turn 4 and Liliana turn 5 can both use their plus abilities to blow your opponent out of the water.
Things to consider. And I only ran a 1 of.
Just a thought.
Me too... 4 hour drives BLOW.
Ah, well, maybe 2012.
