You don't like Scapeshift? It's good with the landfall stuff, Titania, Protector of Argoth and any of the other 'lands in graveyard' cards. Plus the obvious combo with Splendid Reclamation. It's not game over but it is fun.
Do you think that Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is better than Terastodon or Woodfall Primus? Or similarly Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre?
I'll see about tuning my basics and card draw.

Dec 2, 2018I've been enjoying this deck both building it and playing it. I wish I had more slots for all the cards I want to run. I'm wondering if Terastadon and Woodfall Primus are just weaker than a pair of Ulamogs. I also wouldn't mind finding room for both Lotus Cobra and Ob Nixilis, the Fallen.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Nov 3, 2018Hey sorry for the slow response, thanks for commenting. I like your deck quite a lot. It has a lot of good themes and cards to help with nullifying creatures, which is generally the decks weakness.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
I might like a couple more counters for those must stop spells. On a similar note you are missing non-creature removal as well.

There is a lot to unpack in a multicolored set such as this one. Mentor is a goodish ability for Atraxa as it involves +1 counters. Convoke is mostly whatever and always has been. Surveil is nice as a mechanic but I don't think its specifically good for Atraxa decks. The same goes for undergrowth, its nice but I haven't seen a ton of graveyard based Atraxa decks. Jump Start is not awesome. It will have its place in certain decks but I think it is one of the worse mechanics from this set (for Atraxa).
Venerated Loxodon is a card that can be used in +1 counter builds. I dont think it is very good as it inspires you to over commit to the board, but it can be a potentially cheap source of counters.
Light of the Legion doesn't make too much sense to me. Who is going to spot remove this card for you so you can get counters? Why sacrifice this yourself? It seems poorly designed. Classic crap rare. I only mention it because it does counter things.
Mission Briefing is just good. I don't think it is something I will use, but it should see some play in the format.
Doom Whisperer is another card that will be good in the format. It is designed with graveyards in mind, but it is also a powerful card selection engine as well.
Mausoleum Secrets is not good. Don't run this card please. I only mention it to warn people..
Plaguecrafter is another card that will probably see play in the format. It is actually good AGAINST us. Watch out for this card.
Price of Fame is pretty cool. It kills commanders for cheap and gives you some card selection. Its a nice option for black decks in the format.
Pelt Collector is interesting for counters builds. I wouldn't devote a slot to it personally, but it can have applications.
Assasin's Trophy is an awesome card for the format. It's very cheap to cast and can answer any problem. This is the only card in the set that I will be adding to this deck.
Etrata the Silencer. You cant proliferate the counters, but that would be awesome.
Knight of Autumn is really nice. It can act as removal or a big beater that comes down the turn before you play Atraxa. It is a very nice card for all the counter builds.
Vraska, Golgari Queen is sadly the only planeswalker we have in this set. It is a good card, but not obviously playable in the deck. We dont run any cards we actively want to sacrifice to draw cards. The removal ability is nice but not very efficient or versatile in commander. Her ultimate can be strong, but it doesn't do the doubling season thing and can be negated with removal. Overall a card I would rather play in standard, if I played it, and I don't think it will make my deck.
Sep 13, 2018My situation is very similar. I play in paper exclusively as well. So while I have a fairly unrestricted budget, I too must build decks within reason. It sounds as if modern is your primary focus which skews things slightly as I focus on commander alone.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
That being said, I suggest you invest in commander if you plan to play it long term. It should pay off in terms of gains. Commander staples hold their value well as players tend to actuality want the cards to play the game. You could spend around 60 Euros on cards for your Atraxa deck and add Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, and Sylvan Library. All of these cards are so very powerful and efficient for the mana. Also, as someone purchasing with Euros you actually save money as the same cards would cost about 105 USD or about 85 Euros.
With cards this 'cheap' the real question is: do you want to homogenize your deck with staples this way? You wont have as much room for the synergy cards and you will probably find games will become more similar. I like having access to these powerful cards but thats my style.
Sep 13, 2018Let me ask you about your budget. I sort of assumed you were avoiding expensive cards like Demonic Tutor. But both Rhystic Study and Sylvan Library are fairly expensive. If you find yourself really getting into commander I would suggest you go ahead and get certain cards. It isn't impossible to see reprints in a future masters set, but if you look at the price history of cards like Vampiric Tutor and Enlightened Tutor you will see that they rebound fairly well.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Sep 12, 2018I like the idea of some stax elements as most people are generally unprepared for them.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
I don't really want to become a Paradox Engine deck as that card becomes the go to win every game. The deck already has the potential to do some pretty samey stuff. It would be very powerful, that is for sure.
I did some tuning to the deck. Not too much but it should be fairly good. I will try to test the deck this Friday but with the hurricane the shop might be closed.
Sep 12, 2018XeroxedFool posted a message on [[Primer]] Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind: Firemind's FuryOG Mizzet will always be the best one to combo off with. I think the format as a whole has moved past him being one of the best combo commanders, but I dont think that has anything to do with the new Mizzets.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Sep 11, 2018Change Log:Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
These changes are an attempt to add some velocity to the deck. I removed some of the weaker mana stuff for two of the best. Sai can sacrifice artifacts once they have lived past their usefulness so both of these cards are better here than elsewhere.
Sep 11, 2018I've enjoyed playing artifact decks since I started playing magic. My first experience with the archetype was a kitchen table affinity deck my friend used to ruin everyone's fun. I built my first artifact deck for commander in 2012 which featured Bosh, Iron Golem. Ever since then I've been building and dismantling different artifact decks. This year with the release of Commander 2018 I toyed around with Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer. I was not in love with this commander. I did have a very fun game where I had an early Sai, Master Thopterist which is part of the reason why I wanted to build this deck.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
This deck is a work in progress. It aims to create artifact based synergy, use creatures as a source of mana and cards, and then hopefully win with big combo turns or large flying tokens.
Sep 11, 2018It sounds to me as if the tuning has gone well. I love Crystalline Crawler, it is such a powerful mana creature in Atraxa lists. I even run it in superfriends. It is free if you use 4 different mana to cast it and its ramp if you have any counter increasing cards.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
