So, this'll be my first draft, ever. I have been doing some research into the basics of how to "not do horribly," and even doing simulated drafts of KTK to get familar with the current set.
I am finding that I am more interested to play Mardu and Azban. In effect, Black and White splashing out. I like the idea of gaining lots of life and stalling for a bit, plus all those little bits of extra growth with Outlast and direct damage that can be found. But I don't know if that is a viable strategy.
What should I, and anyone else, be looking to do with that one and only Fate Reforged pack? Should we go all in the clan/wedge that has the strongest card in the first pack or should we stick to our interested playstyle?
I am also a bit nerved about only having a few chances at the new cards. It's a new set, but we only get 1 pack. hm. That bit annoys me but I know there is nothing I can do.
I really do want to keep costs down and go for Plan A, as it were, the basic non-foil original release. But we shall see. That Korlash promo looks mighty cool!
The only risk to this plan is the annual Holiday Gift card WotC prints, like Mishra's Toy Factory. These cards are foil and completely new, and of the nine released so far they have yet to produce a zombie.
Well thank goodness for that!
I didn't even consider other languages. I'll stick to US English versions to keep my sanity.
I'm a simple guy, just want my collection of Zombie creature cards.
I just want one copy of the original release of each uniquely titled card.
But, alternate arts, foils, and reprints exist! What should I do in this situation?
I don't mind going for alternate arts when it is reprinted, but going for the same art multiple times can be boring.
On top of that, certain promotional only alternate art cards can be tricky to find or quite an expense.
And after all that, foils! It just seems to never really end.
So again, what should I am for? Getting just the first version of each card? Getting all alternate arts? All foils? All reprints?
As well I have not owned many A/B/U/R stuff, so understanding the difference between them will be hard for me.
IS there a guide to tell them a part?
One final question, is there a really awesome collector's guide/website/online price guide that has images and notes on every version of a given card?
For instance, Korlash, heir to blackblade. Local store has the normal and an alternate art. I can't find much info about this alternate art on wizards site. I am sure someone has a good documentation for all this do I can figure out what I want to collect without missing anything.
