  • posted a message on I'm concerned about the "entry cost" for Magic Arena. Should we be worried?
If I can't qualify for a world championships using the software, then I have no interest in it.
Aa pay to win game like that with only loot-boxes better have a reason to keep me interested other than looking nicer.

"Threshold of X permanents in play!"

That's all I needed the rules page to say. But it isn't worded the way the usual new Thresholds are with "Threshold- Whatever do a thing. (You have Threshold if blah)

    Keep trying wotc.

Ascend is such a wonky mechaninc. I hate all of these Ascend abilities.

Unstable went too far to be different and non-black border, and because of its complexities I will not be participating in what was at one time one of my most looked forward too product releases. Same as Dino world, which was ruined with pirates & return of good merfolk, though drafts of that are still great.

I always look into pre-orders for these before the full list is out and it is always well above msrp, $50 or $60 dollars easy. But once the list comes out, the numbers are crunched, the formats the cards legal in are considered, and interest of the included special d20 is noted. I always look back on the ones I did not buy and feel good about not buying. Yes they had cool cards, but most of the really cool stuff isn't legal or highly improbable for me to use.

    ~~
Wizards agrees to promote a sale on buying 3 standard-legal boosters, and everyone flips out. "Support your LGS, Can't play magic at walmart!"

Wizards lets LGS double or triple the MSRP of a very limited product with only reprints that appear to be only for collectors and fans well established in the game, everyone expects this and encourages it. "Stores should get to make extra money."

Stores should also be able to price match the 3pack deal if they really don't want me to buy from walmart.

Magic cards are not gendered as a game mechanic. Using new art does not change anything about these nonlegendary creature representations.

Late to the party, but I finally found the reddit threads about it and checked my 3 dfcs. all are errors. great.

Has anyone's local store refused to take these in?

I suggest you test it out for us. Go to multiple large and small events, and see how you do.

Canadian Highlander is not EDH/Commander. It is a 1v1 hyper competitive format.

Each deck may contain up to 10 points per 100 cards. I.E a 200 card deck may have 20 points but a 199 card deck may only have 10.

With that quoted, do you really want to sit down with someone like me that would bring a 1000 card deck?

A point list is arbitrary, a ban list is a solid acceptance of how broken a card is. Sol Ring is broken in 40&60 card decks, and only marginally acceptable to me in 100 card decks. I would put it at 10 myself. Because I hate it. Why is Treasure Cruise a 1 point cat, while Ancestral Recall a 6 point? They do the same thing at the same cost.

As a zombie collector I have no reason to buy this.

But it is a nice overall product. Very playable, and replayable. I think the price should be junked down to $20. The set symbol is fantastic.

A much betetr monoU v monoR deck than jace v Chandra where Jace always loses if it doesn't hit land drops.

I'd like an ancient aliens type of set. Where the visiting planewalkers are regarded as dieities to the indigenous. Cause they yknow, have magic powers and can disappear at will. Also theyd look different. So this would probably just a goblins and such 'monsters' type of place.

It takes all of 3 seconds to make sure a O-ring doesn't bend a page. And even then, pages are cheap. Cards are not. Use a few as spacing.

    What are your needs?

thats really neat, and probably okay for a few people who dont worry about dust or have the space in a cabinet.

The 5 slot makes me think of the land stations.

i myself am not into custom deckboxes/cases.

  • posted a message on Tokens - WOTC or Custom?
You're playing a deck that makes tokens. Maybe only a few, maybe everything is a token, maybe only one like a Clue token.

Do you use the ones WOTC supplies in packs or do you go for custom tokens?

Does it matter for a 60 card modern competitive deck versus a 100card singleton format?

Lastly, what are your favorite creature/thing tokens? I want to know what most popular tokens are.
