I got a booster of Masques that every card in it is progressively more and more miscut as you got into it, so the Uncommons & Rares are the worst. (You see the bottom of one card printed on the top of another one.) Probably fairly common, but bizarre nonetheless.
I'll check my Mirrodin cards...probably got some of those blue/yellow blotchies.
Yes. A friend of mine designed a nice cycle of these types of lands for a set of cards we created last year.
Imagine a series of Uncommon dual lands, not unlike the Torment 'Tainted' series...but without the ability to tap for :1mana:. That's the only drawback.
This land produces...
White & Green as long as you control a Plains
White & Blue as long as you control a Plains
Blue & White as long as you control an Island
Blue & Black as long as you control an Island
Black & Blue as long as you control a Swamp
Black & Red as long as you control a Swamp
Red & Black as long as you control a Mountain
Red & Green as long as you control a Mountain
Green & Red as long as you control a Forest
Green & White as long as you control a Forest
Sweet, eh? I soooooooo wish they'd make duals like this.
Back on topic....if you're looking for a way to keep yourself from blowing your wad early with a burn deck, toss in 4x Scent of Cinder. It's worth up to 7 points of damage (for 1:symr:) if you wait for it, and by that time you're probably sufficiently juiced-up manawise to end it on them. It helped me learn discipline and I don't run out of cards anymore.
It's also kinda fun to watch the blood drain out of their face as you show them what's coming their way. :fingers:
...one thing i said on 'news is that name matters would mean the set wouldn't be totaly tribal, but few understood what i ment, so in essence: In Onslaught the creature types mattered, and practically every thing in that set, creatures, other spells, artifacts, were all geared towards the tribal theme, BUT in name matters the tribal theme would remain mainly inside of the creatures effecting the other creatures. suggestion (with a better name than "orangutan-clan" this time) is this:
Eagle Guild Flightmage 3UU
Creature - Human Mage
UUU, TAP: All creatures with Eagle Guild in their name gain flying until the end of turn.
1/2
Arishi, Eagle Guildmaster 4UUU
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
2UUUU, TAP: All creatures with Eagle Guild in their name are unblockable until the end of the turn.
3/3
meh, not much better, but still better, either way that would be an example of what i am talking about.
I think you're definitely on to something here... :yikes:
Despite the song and dance they (Randy & MaRo) gave us months ago about why they decided to do the 'Class/Race' thing and the soooo many good reasons to do it....this has got to be the REAL reason why they did it. In light of your theory, a block with that type of focus would make perfect sense now.
Kudos to you sir. As I've been predicting for a while now, I still think this block will resemble The Dark more than others (like MM, for instance)....hope I'm right too!
Harbinger of Spring is pretty lousy but Beloved Chaplain is quite useful actually. Ever heard of a card called Empyrial Armor? (Or E. Plate...more recently) You can routinely reduce someone to a fine red paste with those two.
Mudhole, Pale Moon, Sorrow's Path, Chimney Imp...all junk.

Another interesting possible twist w/Shuriken would be .... Creature gains :Xmana:: This creature deals X damage to target creature or player. Any player damaged in this way, or controller of creature damaged in this way gains control of Shuriken.
A true missile weapon. The injured party picks it up off the ground and can can throw it back at you!!

I've seen a really nasty casual deck using Upwelling w/Seedborn Muse & Fireball (or any other X-spell). This would be a nice addition to that deck. In a multiplayer game, it just gets silly.
To clarify... I was 'Augomancer' on the old MtgNews site. Now I'm Morphling.
That is all...back to lurking in the shadows. :fingers:
EDIT: @ DotP: Huzzah indeed.... :tongue2: Good to see you...

Pedantic Learning. Does a card even exist that specifically 'puts lands from library to graveyard'? When would this thing ever trigger?

+ Megrim is even better...
OH, why not just toss in 4x Underworld Dreams + 4x Anvil of Bogardan and/or 4x Howling Mine....ohhh, the fun.

Behold!! The awesome power of Aven Trooper!!!
Wow...I actually predicted the shuriken!! (Sort of...) WOOT. (Sort of...)

Not sure if this has been mentioned...
