@deathandcatmix there are some cards missing from the list in your report. I'm guessing 4 Leonin Arbiter and 2 Tectonic Edge?

Well he mentioned that the Staticaster was cut so there's one slot. I'm guessing one of the Forked Bolts is the second to go because it shares duty with Electrickery.

I'm still running the 2 Curiosity. What are you running now?

    Your last post

"Core -1 Wooded Foothills, +4 Simic Charm and 2 Curiosity. But I'm thinking of cutting the Curiosities now for the Foothills and a fourth Denial."

is a little confusing. What are your flexes with the Foothills back in?

So I've been goldfishing with 16 lands lately.

Most of the time I get gas for days, but the number of mull-to-4 and still no lands games happens much more often now.

    ...it's scary.

What? Probe and Serum Visions aren't cantrips?

Interesting idea, I'll give it a try sometime.

Any other Totem armor auras that might be borderline decent?

Also what are you cutting in the board to make room for the umbras?

And are we just cutting all the probes in the BGx/Grixis matchups? Since I assume you'll be wanting umbras PLUS Curiosity?

Have you tried Simic Charm Alix444?

The versatility of Simic Charm more than makes up for its 2CMC. Hooting Mandrills and Delver do not give you reach (I'll concede that they are evasive creatures). It's the Lightning Bolts and the Charms that give you reach.

The +3/+3 lets Mandrills trample over problematic creatures that we get walled with like Angler, Tasigur, Goyf, and Rhino. Bouncing something at the right timing can give you a huge tempo swing.

If you are cutting Charms for "better removal" then I wish you good luck. Removal doesn't really get better outside of Bolt in this deck. I think you'll find that you'd much prefer Bolt or Charm in your hand.

I've found 2 Snapcaster to be underwhelming in my games and I've switched to 2/1 of Charm and Snapcaster as well.

Have any of you tried cutting the last Snap for a Clique maybe? Extra evasive creature with an awesome effect?

    @ashtonkutcher

Just a quick question regarding sideboarding that you reported a couple pages back against Grixis Delver:

    GRIXIS DELVER

    DRAW
    -4 Disrupting Shoal
    -3 Thought Scour
    +4 Huntmaster of the Fells
    +2 Simic Charm
    +1 Dismember

    PLAY
    -2 Curiosity
    -1 Thought Scour
    +3 Blood Moon

Is your sideboarding on-the-play in addition to the changes you made G1 on-the-draw? TIA

Also should we board the same way in the identical mirror?

Hey guys, I would like to pose what I think is an important question:

When and how should I use Thought Scour in conjunction with fetchlands?

Is it true that you should always fetch before Thought Scour? Or are there situations where the reverse order is appropriate?

If there is a land you must have, you should fetch it before TS, no doubt. BUT, is there ever a situation where your need of a land is several degrees less than dire, and in which case you can fetch afterwards?

    Situations:

    - Need specific land
    - Cycling Thought Scour (just want a good card)
    - Binning for Snapcaster

Maybe some of you probability whizzes can help out.

I prefer Outpost Siege set to Khans for longer games. Also thinking about testing Olivia, and maybe even throwing in a Thundermaw Hellkite. I've played many games where my Abzan (Wilted or otherwise) opponent topdecks a Lingering Souls to save their ass, then proceeds to beat me to death with Wilted 2/2 flyers.

    This is my list:

Probably going to cut 1 Leak and 1 Deprive for 2 Remand. Deprive is so awesome but I've been hating it when I draw them early without double blue or when I need to be hitting land drops.

Also I almost want to cut a Bolt for another Electrolyze or Forked Bolt, soul tokens are SO ANNOYING. Maybe cutting a different card is better. Bolt-Snap-Bolt has been so clutch for me.

One more thing: why are you guys devoting so much sideboard hate to Twin? I find that the matchup is so favorable for us. Siding in a Rending Volley, Spell Pierce, and Vandalblast has been enough. I feel like I can't lost when I am paired with Twin.

Took the following list to a $1.5k even yesterday with about 50 or so people at the event.

Round 1 vs Splinter Twin (1-2)
As per usual with me and playing in events, I whiff this match.
G1: Opponent mulligans to 5 and is never able to find an answer for Tasigur and a couple of flipped Delvers
G2: I keep a questionable 1 lander and get punished for it.
G3: This is the game that I punted the hardest I have a single bolt in hand, and draw a Slaughter Games. Instead of fetching for a second red source, I opt for a basic Island. I eventually lose the game with double bolt in hand, and my opponent at 6 life with only 1 red source among my lands.

Round 2 vs BG Rock (2-1)
G1: Goes as you would imagine. 1 for 1's me until I have nothing left and he eventually wins the games off the back of Treetop Village
G2: Opponent mulligans to 5, and a turn 3 Blood Moon finishes this game really quickly.
G3: I manage to keep his board clear of cards for a long time, killing any creature and countering whatever I can. Eventually, he lands a Batterskull to face off against my Tasigur. He attacks the germ into my Tasigur to gain some extra life. I swing back the next turn with Tasigur to put him onto a lethal attack the next turn. I then cast a defensive Olivia Voldaren, as he has a Treetop Village in play on the other side of the board. At this point, I am tapped out, neither of us have cards in hand. I have lethal next turn. He does not have enough mana to activate and equip his manland with the Batterskull. Draws an Inquisition of Kozilek off of the top and concedes the game.

    Round 3 vs 4-Color Mentor (1-2)
G1: He is able to flood the board with Young Pyromancer and Monastery Mentor tokens and I am unable to answer them all.
G2: This time, I manage to kill off all of his token generating creatures before they can gain him a huge advantage. Once his board was clear and he no longer had cards in his hand, the game was locked for me.
G3: I flood out super hard this game, and cannot keep up with his Mentor tokens, unfortunately. 8 out of 10 of my draws were lands after an opener with 4 lands, 3 being fetches.

Round 4 vs 4-Color Jeskai Asendancy Combo (2-1)
G1: He does his combo thing and I am unable to flip 3 Delvers for 5 turns.
G2: Slaughter Games naming Jeskai Ascendancy locks out this game for me.
G3: My opponent is able to resolve 2 Jeskai Ascendancy's, but is unable to do anything with them, as I beat down on him with Tasigur and Young Pyromancer tokens.

Round 5 vs Abzan Liege (2-0)
G1: This was the most intense game of MTG I have played in a long time. My opponent beautifully curves out with T1 BoP, T2 Voice of Resurgence, T3 Kitchen Finks, T4 Siege Rhino. I eventually kill the VoR off, leaving him with 2 Elemental tokens, and opening him up to resolving a Lingering Souls and flashback. I have to trade 5 YP tokens and a Snapcaster Mage for 1 of the elementals, and terminated the other one. Somehow, I manage to stabilize the game with me being at 1 life, and my opponent at 18. I begin to bear down on him with more and more Snapcasters, and Young Pyromancers. The best play in this game was my opponent blocking a YP token with a Wilt-Leaf Liege, and me casting Kolaghan's Command to shoot him for 2, return Snapcaster to my hand, Snapcaster, flashback Lightning Bolt to kill the Liege after it took the 1 from a token.
G2: Bolted every mana dork, countered every other spell, until I lock him out of the game with a Blood Moon.

    Round 6 vs Jund (2-1)
G1: Similarly to the BG Rock match earlier in the day, my opponent grinds me out of game 1.
G2: Keeping his board clear and him stumbling on mana allowed me to resolve a Blood Moon to lock him out of most of his spells
G3: Turn 2 Tasigur and a lot of counterspells allow me to out tempo my opponent out of the game.

I ended this event 4-2, finishing in 14th place. Not bad for my first time piloting this deck. I'll be at another 4 round event today and will give a report later tonight.

I was there watching you. GJ on your finish!

I scrubbed 1-4 and dropped myself. Made so many mistakes and racked up two GRV warnings...

I personally prefer 2 Spell Snares but I think I will try out your split of 2/2/1 Leak/Remand/Deprive.

Do you guys board out Leaks and Deprives against BGx decks? I have a bunch of these in my meta and I need help boarding.

I want to bring in on the play:

    2x Blood Moon
    1x Flashfreeze
    1x Outpost Siege
    1x Keranos
    1x Engineered Explosives
    2x Deathmark

    I guess I take out:

    3x Mana Leak
    1x Kolaghan's Command
    2x Deprive

    I don't know what else.

What is Junk's plan against us? How many, if any, of Rhino/Liliana/Souls/Tasigur do they board out? Maybe just 1 Deathmark is enough? And if they keep Souls I should bring in 2 Explosives?

On the draw I don't think I should bother with Blood Moon because it might be too difficult to create an advantageous board position before I drop it.

Thanks in advance from a novice player.

If you flip the Delver, do you race? Or do you block the Guide?
