I love graveyard recursion and reusable engines, and the Nightmare has to be one of the best ever engines for generating incremental advantage or just pulling a big monster from beyound the grave to harass my opponents. The art is at it's Lovecraftian best, all teeth and writhing tentacles, and it is so aptly named as it creates a nightmare for my opponents that goes on and on and on...Posted in: Announcements

Personally I'm not sure 3 brainstorms are worth 4 mana either, but that depends a great deal on how often you can shuffle your library. If that is the effect you are after, Raven Familiar does a pretty good job of digging in a similar way. That said Jace does offer the flexibility of also being a bounce spell.
How do the following cards perform: Void Winnower, Progenitor Mimic, Vigor, Managorger Hydra and Signal the Clans?
I'm interested in their impact on the game and what you usually target.

Primal Surge if you're all permanents and have a haste enabler (Akroma's Memorial).
Genesis Wave if you're playing big mana.
Tooth and Nail for Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Archetype of Endurance will end the game pretty quickly while protecting your board state (or Elesh Norn and Kamahl, Fist of Krosa if you have spare green mana to kill lands)
Iona, Shield of Emeria.
Craterhoof Behemoth if you're going wide.
If infect is acceptable Triumph of the Hordes ends games pretty effectively with relatively few bodies. Grafted Exoskeleton (and a little more power) on Sigarda can easily one shot opponents.
Feel free to check out my Torsten Von Ursus deck in sig, though it's probably less aggro than you're intending to build it does play Selesnya as mean as it can be.
I have some of the cards you mention (Sword of Fire and Ice, Mind's Eye and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite) in different decks.
I recently sold most of my collection in preparation for moving overseas, which involved pulling decks apart and Nahiri was built as a way of keeping some cards which otherwise would have been sold.
I only have the 8 decks in my sig left at the moment and I can't really make any changes in the near future. This deck is going into storage until I'm settled in my new location; I posted the decklist as a way of tracking what is currently in my collection
I'm happy to contribute to discussion about the deck once I'm settled in five months or so. I hope you can wait!

Seems most of the changes are because I wanted to try out some new cards or needed cards for other decks.
I'm writing to let you know that I'm winding down my activity in this primer. There are a number of reasons for this, but primarily it is because I'm not getting the same enjoyment out of playing this deck that I used to and so I'm not playing the deck enough to test the changes that I have been making in recent times.
In the near future I am moving country (after an extended holiday) and during this time Animar will be kept in storage, which will further limit my ability to make changes based on new releases. Initially I had planned on traveling with my Animar deck, but I've decided to take some other decks that are (hopefully) more friendly to pick up play.
It is possible once I am settled in another location and found a new playgroup that Animar will come back, but I suspect this style of deck is more suitable for 1v1 play and so in the future I may change the focus in that direction. Or maybe not? I'm just not sure.
While I feel a bit sad to be leaving the deck behind (and I have invested a lot of time and money into the deck and maintaining this primer) it would feel dishonest to keep advocating a deck for which I no longer felt the passion it deserves.
The thread and OP in it's current condition will remain available as a resource and I will continue to be present on MTGS to offer advice if asked for it (although intermittently while I travel), but of course overtime it will become outdated. Hopefully another Animar player will be able to continue where I left off to ensure up-to-date information is always available on this site.
