I think that eventually design will get there. Firesong and Sunspeaker was a try, but once again, they kept it too safe. The might have read the fact that Tamanoa is one of the favourite amongst unofficial commanders, but failed to deliver.

The Firseing and sunspeaker design speaks for irself. They refraines feom printing it as "Whenever an instant or sorceey spell causes you to gain life, F&S deals that much damage to any target" whixh would could have allowed a lot of experimentation in the search of explosive wins. They costed it too high to prevent lifegain from going up too fast and limited tje effect to instants and soeceries and snatched away the Tamanoa dream of amassing awesome life totals out of damage or taking advantage from auto-damage (Like janking off Darien and painlands)

Another the departments I feel Boros is lacking is in the Aristocrats approach. Both white and red go with it but there's a serious lack or support for the strategy. Boros can make tons of weenies but it's hard to find something to do solidly with them.

Boros has also taken a small hit from the change of the damage redirection to planeswlakers rule.

One thing I do not agree is that Boros is not solid in the battlecruiser approach and I actually think is a good way for boros to overcome some of its limitations. Dropping threats aftee threat instead of spending your time building up rocks to make Boros be what is not is usually a solid approach. There are three opponents and a limited number of answers, so spending them in your janky Taurean Mauler has to be thought twice. As it has been said, Boros is good at killing one player and that's something to reckon.

I think the design will eventually get there, but they have been too coy. Even for equipment synergy the commanders are a bit lacking.

Well, there's been a good deal of discussion here!

I felt a bit or tbe Boros discomfort whennI first gave my Brios Stoutarm deck to my son. At first, a lor of "What do you play this for?' questions at first, but in the end, he got to be comfortable with it. Boros has, of course, its limitations, but if you want to play, you have to work with what you have, There, in wanting to play Boros, is where maybe the cultural issue manifests itself. if we don't repeat the "Boros sucks" mantra maybe more people would want to play it. In my store metaz a mix or competitive and casual. I am the only one that plays boros, and tbh, I do quite well. But I play Brion because I find it fun, not because I'm after a solid winning streak. "Boros sucks" comes from focusing on how effective is at winning a lot, but lots of people just don't care about it that much (We all like winning after all XD).

Players with more competitive mindset and I would dare to say more prestige ussualy have a particular set of parameters to assess cards and decks and that sometimes can go against experimentation. I know it might sound stupid to some, but sometimes when I'm asked why I play a particular card or strategy my answrr is "I liked this card and I want to try it." Even when a whole.community has already assessed the card and reached some.kind of consesus. Boros is not thta effective within competitive parameters, but it can float people's boat. I'm old and I play since forever, but a younger or newer player might feel discouraged by this.

I'm running it in my Kestia, the Cultivator deck along with some other control-magic like auras and I have to say I
considerr it my most important piece of removal. I have occasionally got the win out of it. I jave never played it outside Kestia but I'm building a Tuvasa hossers deck and I'm planning to run it.

I have never actually played it, but I do run Avacyn's Pilgrim and having the chance of a black one when needed is great.

Void-nothing: The mana ability is certainly odd, but I think there might be good ways to abuse it. Mastery of the unseen will let you dig for something worth manifesting for mere white mana . The copy ability is very interesting. Only complaint is that I don't feel there's intrrnal syneegy. Good callback to the block andnyour chosen card.

I would take the Dragon Throne. I tbink we should take into account the ammount of tokens we can create. I know we might not play it, but if we get to use it can have a big impact in our damage output, specially against other controlling decks.

I rather take the expensivw but unconditional rite of the serpent. I feel we're well set to be on the beathdown often and the kill shot might linger in oir hand.

picnic bomber: Bushido semilord seems interesting. I think this has indeed a good place in A bushido matters set if joined with other lords in the same vein, kinda like tje +1/+1 counter lords in Khans.

mirrodin71: I don't really like the fortification tied to a specific color here, annaira cound have worked wonders. The card gives an important flow o f tokens but at white 5 mana and many turns is just too slow to make any relevant ammount of tokens. I would like it to be volorless, and althought a fortificaction matters enviroment is posible in theory, I don't think it has enough design room to be elegant.

Legend: Nie ability, altjought it should be probably bled into white or green to eb used in set the size of nowadays. The cost for a common with such ability should be highr in my opinion, or this should be turned into an uncommon as to have it well balanced to limited play. I read about the Rath discusiion, and while uou don't really get into any real Rathi stuff, Rath has a good share of odd, generic fauna as creatures ala Mirozel or School of Piranha.

Jimmy Groove: I'm not superfond of the mechanic as it feels like kicker, but Inunderstand that this is the way new mechanics are coming up lately (ala Adapt from monstruosiy, Jump start from kicker, etc) I really like the name and flavor and the effect. I'm not superfond of the design, eitjer, as it looks like a card that would be "showing" tye mechanic along with the disenchant with bloat, and the bolt with bloat, and the raise dead with bloat, and so on. So you're not exploiting the posibilities of your mechanic. I tuink this is pretty printable and the posibilities of design for it are very good, just that you're not really selling it as well as it can be sold, if you know what I mean.

subject16: Aside the color miss, a 4/4 creature with conditional flying for 5 mana is rather underwhelming for an uncommon.

willows: I like the card but I don't think Wealth would work very well as a keyword mechanic. It's a bit like a mix of cascade and explore but it doesn't support the CMC bloat of the first nor the design flexibility or the other. While getting cards from your dying creatures feels like it vould work in black and green, the last ability just has a "reparations" vibe that's a bit too white and might fit better in an Abzan card.
