A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

Still doing some testing but this deck has been extremely solid for me. I have played 17 games and have won 13 of them. My only losses are to wolf run(2) and BU zombies(2). I've beaten those decks as well and am 5-0(10 games to 4) against Delver. Wolf run is tough, I basically need a turn 6 win at the latest and BU zombies with lots of kill spells ruins my steam. Delver is a good matchup but they don't have the blockers. Then when I side in Grand Abolisher, a 4th Fiend, and another O-Ring it's usually pretty easy.

Huntmaster, Paladin, and Mauler usually are the difference in general. Blinking Huntmaster for life/tokens. Paladin when the opponent is tapped out or if I have Grand Abolisher out often wins games. Mauler+Paladin/Bladehold ends games.

I'm back and forth on taking the Pilgrim out for more Doomed Travelers and mid-range win-cons.

    Cloudshift is awesome.

    Rancor obviously wins games.

I know there's nothing groundbreaking here and it's certainly not the first of it's kind but it is different and I'm the only one playing this in my area at least.

What do you guys think? I just started playing again this summer(wasn't a fan of SOM block at all) and I don't know if there are cards that I'm missing that could work better/are better so any advice is appreciated.

Save yourself the hassle and just sell them on Ebay.

These guys will eat you alive with their lowball offers.

I pulled two Stoneforges out of booster last summer and almost traded them at 2.50...whew! Then I traded for two in October at 4 a piece and bought a foil for ten in january.

The card is really frickin awesome at the moment and it will see play until it rotates......though it would be nice if they reprinted it.

I've got a play set up on the bay with a sword. Just a couple hours left and its in the mid-60's including shipping. I also have a foil that's at 23. It sucks that foils aren't in such demand. Most shops are selling them for over 40 but ebay they're under 30.

Supply and demand is not hasbros concern. They make NO money off the secondary market. Prices are what they are because of the secondary market and it's supply and demand.

Mistakes that are made during the printing process (pokes baneslayer in M10 and Jace in WW) are accidents. They are not intentionally done by wizards or hasbro.

Rarity has an impact on price. But it is hardly why Jace is at what he is at. Same with Tezzeret.

Do you think it is a coincidence that average contents inside a booster box come out very close to the cost of one at msrp?

Bull☺☺☺☺, if wizards doesn't care, otherwise they would not make say ~5 really good rares/mythics a set and the rest meh. They control how powerful a card will be since they're the ones creating these cards to interact with each other; they know how good each one will be.

*Booster Box contents average around msrp
*Wizards make the damn cards, they know how well they interact with each other

Would people buy boxes or booster packs if every rare/mythic is worth less than $5?

They do care about the secondary market.

They technically aren't but I certainly don't think they see it that way. Seeing all that stuff go for less than half its current value can cause such thinking.

Most store don't reconise the shrink that can be caused by a bad reputation, they just see the potential profit in front of them being lost.

I am not condoning their actions, I'm just saying its not that suprizing for stores to do this with a product whose value is so fluid.

Oh yea I hear ya. Shady business practices are commonplace. Its ultimately their loss in the end.

Thats not quite fair. Can you think of any other business with such quick apreciation on products? Something can literally go from $1.50 to $5 in an hour in the mtg market. As deplorable as this is to refund orders business put up a lot to stay afloat in the card market. In warzones example they are losing HUGE amount of profit by selling at original price.

I do not this that justifies their actions but I expect businesses to act nothing less than a business. They percieved it is in their best intrest to refund and relist than so be it don't buy from them.

Whoever said strikezone is bad is wrong, strikezone is probably the best online store centered in the midwest over here in texas. Large inventory with competative eternal and standard prices makes the store very appealing. It is also good about conditions.

How are they losing money? The price was low because no one was buying them. Then people started buying them at their low price and consequently their price goes up due to higher demand. Its supply and demand quite simply.

If stores are so concerned then they should charge a minimum of $5 a card. If a store is banking on a card drastically jumping in price then they're doing it wrong.

Basically all I'm saying is that you cannot lose money if a product wasn't selling in the first place. Besides I'm sure there have been times where these stores allowed someone to purchase 200 commons at $0.25 a piece.

Man I hate when stores do this. I'm sorry the ridiculous profits they are making off singles doesn't offset when they underestimate the value of a card like Contested War Zone, which was 2 bucks and is now crazy expensive thanks to Kuldotha Red. If I bought Venser when he was 35 and he dropped to fifteen the next week, do I get 20 dollars back?

Thankfully I had my orders on MBS filled already, and I already limit my quantities to 8 even if I am speculating.

The only reason I didn't go for more than 12 @ $.75 is the higher likelihood of being canceled due to speculation.

I ordered 12 from TopDeckHobbies and they have been shipped; just waiting on them. I also ordered 8 from Cardkingdom and they also say they've been shipped. We'll see but I was definitely thinking they would be canceled or reduced.

    brozilla firefox.

I'm in a similar boat, except I make enough to pay for what-would-be the cost of my books (FOR SEVERAL SEMESTERS :trey:) given that after at least a year of being in the red, I am finally in the black.
Doing making money on Magic cards and also not cannibalizing yourself is a difficult balance if you're just a small-town boy making trades and husslin' errday, but if you're patient, you, too, can bounce from just this dude with a binder to just this dude with 5 binders and the default go-to guy for values and cards. Yeah kind of. Except time reversal was speculation, this is simply their price being out of date. Basically you found guaranteed profit if they honor their price, its not really the same thing as time reversal. Unless ofcourse you make a habit of buying cards from people that are out of date the other way?

I was referring to the shops that cancel orders due to being behind. I bet they weren't gonna cancel an order of those Time Reversals when the price was plummeting.

I wonder how many refunds they'll be giving out. I picked up "the last 8", as I'm sure many others have, and there's been no change in inventory. Maybe they only listed 8 to prevent people from buying more than that at a time, but I expect to receive an email sometime this week about my order Slant

Yea I'm one of those guys too.

I got an email confirmation for my previous order of 12 @ $0.75 that my order was shipped. This is a relief because I didn't want to have to type up a negative review thread. Like it has been pointed out by many with regards to sellers honoring their low prices; sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I'm looking at you Time Reversal.

It's rising above my expectations. I picked up 12 for $0.75 but I hesitated in picking up more. I had a really strong feeling(to me the card is amazingly good) but I'm still fairly new to the game and I didn't want to face palm.

I agree with your weariness. I really like his deck idea but at least 2 equipment or more sounds better for more versatility and consistency.

I'm not a fan of 4x JTMS so i would throw some BSA's in there.
