Yeah no. The uncommons that are legal for the pauper format on modo shouldn't be in pauper cubes. I ran them and have since cut them, not because they're bad or because they're oppressive, but they aren't true commons.
I don't want to but I'm gonna start building Pauper decks in real life and to do so it follows the online pauper metagame so I'm considering the cube to as well.
So everybody already knows Chainer's Edict/Beetleback Chief/Battle Screech are great uncommons that were printed common online only. I am considering finally cracking (even though I despise the idea) and adding then to my cube. My question is what are opinions on lesser known and not as good cards printed common online? Brindle Shoat, Exile, Goblin Commando, etc
Also this brings up a topic I'm curious about. How do you keep a playgroup interested in all commons? Some people I know in other cards games I have cubes off hate balanced cubes and want to play stupid broken stuff all the time. I feel they don't understanding cubing and refuse to hear about the balancing process that goes along with it. What do you say or do to make people understand all commons can be better and more fun than powered cubes? How do you keep people interested? This ties into the fact that I feel foiling it out a little makes it look less dull and like "ugh its just all commons" to a cube worthy of even the spikiest of spikes (I am one of those) and may make them choose it over powered. I got bored of powered and underpowered really fast but never got sick of my peasant until my playgroup just disappeared which led me to sell it (and it was 80% foil). Even then Peasant is not as cheap as people think.
I just bought the cheapy cheap ones for now, but I would love to finish it. Sad part is the mana base will be the actual pricey stuff. Also I don't like Skimmer. I wouldn't play a 2/4 flier for 4 and it can't block and kill something or be blocked and take something with it should it be doubled.
I'm thinking I'm gonna cut my lands that aren't duals. Desert is about the only good one. Quicksand is very poor and Expanse/Wilds/Vestige aren't needed when we have bounces, gainlands, and gates. It's either that or I just cut the gates all together to make the latter more useful. I already don't play Brainstorm because it's mediocre without shuffle effects so Expanse and Wilds don't serve any higher purpose a dual can't obtain.
