Well it was about time WOTC solved the color philosophy problem of having black as the removal color but being always second to white thanks to path to exile.
WOTC bans cards based on 'dominance' and frequency on top 8, may i ask why haven't they banned tarmogoyf yet? I think if you check the number of tarmogoyf vs splinter twin in the top tables tarmogoyf may come out ahead, yet they don't seem to mind.
How does cavern of souls work with the new eldrazi? im guessing that it doesnt add C so you add a random color and pay C with another colorless producing land to get the desired uncouterable effect?
Also if we drop the processor mechanics then we can try another color instead of white. For example, green has ancient stirrings and world breaker.
I voted to unban dread return because the unbanning of golgari grave-troll didn't really get dredge going, which i feel would help diversify the format.
I also uncautiously voted for the unban of jace, the mind sculptor because while he was very powerful during his standard run, we already have his partner in crime in the ban list and i believe we also have the right tools to fight him. This is a risky decision, one WOTC would not make, since i believe jace was a mistake in the first place.
Great UR manland, you shouldn't have expected it to be overpowered. Allied fixing is always stronger in eternal formats, and even standard, so there is much more to compete with, while enemy fixing has less strong options. It will see tons of play.
It's fine that green has a good cantrip-like effect. Blue's share of the pie is obnoxious and is the more unique aspect of the whole game. This card isn't something green can't have access to, it's just a bit pushed since Nissa is the central pw of the block and this cycle is supposed to be high profile. It may see some modern play but nothing overpowered.
<> clearly isn't merely colorless.
if it would be, then why cost kozilek 8<><>?
eldrazi consumption takes away from basics its mountain, island, etc, status and renders them simply 'wastes' basic lands.
just as it takes away 'color' from normally colored cards, rendering them devoid.
this way it doesn't mess up with previous mechanics power level. its an elegant solution to avoid errata.
you can pay the colorless part of mana costs with <>.
you must pay <> mana symbols with <>.
just as with other specific mana requirements.
if you think about it, it seems the most intuitive and simple way of things. and thats something WOTC aims for.
if you follow my logic, other claims are invalid.
also, the uncharted realms stories have pointed out that the lands the eldrazi have fed on, be it a forest or mountain, have the exact same chalky consistence, suggesting corrupted basic lands are undiferentiated.
Very solid cards all around, the blue one i like the most but between fetches, trilands and the new tango lands i think we are going to see an awful lot of multicolored decks who can't afford to play these.
Great card, will see play in standard. WOTC have been doing their best to keep standard diverse and balanced, this is a step forward to that goal. Countering is a powerful slice of the pie and they need to keep it restricted on the low CMC spells. People who complain probably want to bash teh n00bs with their island. This rewards metagaming.
Also if we drop the processor mechanics then we can try another color instead of white. For example, green has ancient stirrings and world breaker.
Really solid, i look forward playing it in BW modern eldrazi!
