In response to the declaration of blockers, my opponent plays Boomerang targeting my Acidic Slime.
Also, this can't happen. Players can't respond to turn-based actions (which declaring blockers is).
However, both players get priority in the declare blockers step after the turn based actions are complete and one could play the Boomerang at that point.
As to your principle query, if a creature in combat doesn't make it to the combat damage phase, it won't be dealing or receiving combat damage. Likewise creatures that are in combat (whether attacking or blocking) and make it to the combat damage step, but have no creature(s) opposing them won't deal or receive combat damage.
Deathtouch (and a few other abilities like Lifelink, Wither or Infect) won't matter if the creature isn't dealing damage.
This is exactly the response I was looking for, thank you.
Sorry about that, updated the situation with appropriate cards. I was more or less asking about cards in general that either have Deathtouch or "return target permanent to its owner's hand"
I'm reading over the Comprehensive Rules and came across this section:
510.1c A blocked creature assigns its combat damage to the creatures blocking it. If no creatures are currently blocking it (if, for example, they were destroyed or removed from combat), it assigns no combat damage. If exactly one creature is blocking it, it assigns all its combat damage to that creature. If two or more creatures are blocking it, it assigns its combat damage to those creatures according to the damage assignment order announced for it. This may allow the blocked creature to divide its combat damage. However, it can't assign combat damage to a creature that's blocking it unless, when combat damage assignments are complete, each creature that precedes that blocking creature in its order is assigned lethal damage. When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures that's being assigned during the same combat damage step, but not any abilities or effects that might change the amount of damage that's actually dealt. An amount of damage that's greater than a creature's lethal damage may be assigned to it.
Here's the situation I have in my mind:
During a turn, I have Acidic Slime (assume with an enchantment that has reach, I can't find one on gatherer ...) on the battlefield. I declare an attack with it, meeting all requirements. My opponent has Angel of Jubilation and declares they're blocking with it. In response to the declaration of blockers, my opponent plays Boomerang targeting my Acidic Slime. Acidic Slime is returned to my hand before the Combat Damage Step.
Question 1) Will the deathtouch ability of Acidic Slime resolve destroying the Angel of Jubilation?
Question 2) Will the deathtouch ability apply on the inverse, that is Acidic Slime is blocking an attacking Angel of Jubilation?
I know that if I declare an attacker and that blocker was removed after its declaration, it's considered blocked still and no damage would be applied. Does the same still apply here?
I have a question regarding Frontier Mastodon's Ferocious ability as well as other Ferocious abilities that have the same rules text.
Say I have an ability that allows for multiple summons to occur at the same time and I choose Frontier Mastodon as one of them. (Liliana Vess' ultimate ability for example.) Provided all of the other creatures are at least 4 power, will the Frontier Mastodon enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter to it?
I want to say no since the other creatures aren't on the board at the time for Mastodon to look at it but looking for other's opinions.
Player A enters his upkeep step. I know both effects trigger and go on the stack. My question is, is this like other card games where the turn players effect must go onto the stack first... so that Stab Wound triggers, then Havoc Festival triggers. Resolving in that manner: Havoc Festival will reduce the player to 2 life and Stab Wound would burn the rest away.
Or does Player A get to decide the order of the effects allowing him to resolve Stab Wound first then Havoc Festival. Allowing him to stay alive with one life.
During FNM last night, my opponent attacked with four monsters (barely enough for lethal). After my opponent declares attacks, I declare no blockers.
Does my opponent have an opportunity to activate anything (specifically Bloodrush abilities) upon my declaration of no blockers BUT before the damage resolves?
The player under whose control Phage enters the battlefield will lose the game if they did not play it from their hand. When you use Mindslaver, you are making decisions for the player, but it is still not your turn, and you are not the controller of anything on that player's side of the battlefield.

Not a DB like Gatherer. (No way in hell will I ever attempt to rebuild that wheel.) A store has asked me to make a DB for the names of MTG Cards and the like. I have Scars of Mirrodin but I can't find the numbers... I remember that the cards were sorted something like

semi-unrelated question, but i don't feel it deserves it's own thread..
i lost the numbers to register online with (the small part from the bottom of my dci card) before i bothered to do so.. is there any way i can still register online or do I need to get a new dci number?
You'd have to wait and see if your TO sends back the portion of the registration card to the DCI. They'll enter it in their system and it *SHOULD* generate an email for you automatically. That or you can email wizards via their help system for assistance.
Hey I'm not sure which forum this belongs in, so I guessed here.
I'm trying to make a database of the Scars of Mirrodin cards but it turns out that I'm missing the collector's numbers. What I wanted to know is, does anyone know the numbering system for them? I know the cards are arranged by color, then sorted alphabetically and are assigned a number based on that order... But I don't know what the exact order is?
(Then to make matters worse, the multicolored cards like from Shadowmoor and Eventide don't help.)
This is exactly the response I was looking for, thank you.

Player A is down to three life remaining. He controls a creature with Stab Wound attached to it.
Player B controls Havoc Festival on his battlefield.

- Assume there is a Phage The Untouchable in Player A's graveyard.
Player A controls Liliana Vess with 12 loyalty counters.
Player A gives Player B control of Liliana Vess using [still researching this one].
Player A activates Mindslaver.
Player A ends their turn.
Player B would start their turn, being controlled by Player A.
Player A activates Liliana Vess' big ability. (Return to play all creatures in all graveyards.)
Which player would lose the game?
[Sorry about the give control away unknown, I know it's possible somewhere in MTG to give permanent control of a permanent away, just forgot how.]

Basic lands by colored mana in the order of white, blue, black, red, green.
Example 1:
Player A controls Lotus Cobra.
Player B activates Terminate targeting Lotus Cobra.
Player A activates the effect of Terramorphic Expanse in response.
Both players pass on priority.
Does Player A still get the Landfall ability of Lotus Cobra? What point is the mana added?
Example 2:
Player A controls Lotus Cobra.
Player A activates Terramorphic Expanse. Player A declares he is activating the effect of Lotus Cobra.
Player B activates Terminate targeting Lotus Cobra.
How does this resolve?
Second question:
Is Lotus Cobra's ability considered to be a Mana Ability?
