Well do we need the second market to enjoy the game?
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The biggest buyers of new, sealed Magic product (the only product that WotC profits from) are online internet dealers; many of whom will open the product for singles sales. Take away the secondary market and it no longer makes sense for them to purchase so much product; thereby making Magic not as profitable for WotC/Hasbro which could lead to anything from an overall lower quality game or a discontinuation of the line.
And such is the great cosmic joke of collectible gaming; collectibility is required to make the game profitable and yet collectibility has nothing to do with one's skill at the game. After all...if someone wins a tournament with a counterfeit Tarmogoyf in their deck does that make them a worse player?
I've got 2x Mutilate to get around the fringe indestructible creature; in many cases it may as we'll be a 5th and 6th copy of Damnation. I looked at Black Sun's Zenith but it just didn't wow me; I could see running it as a one of if I were also running a tutor.
But yeah...I do need at least one more Phyrexian Arena, don't I?
Made some updates....going with this list for now. Eventually I'd like to put together a stable of creatures that I can sub in for a handful of spells should I decide on a whim to play with a more creature based deck one of these nights.
Taking some advice from some recent threads as well as information from the Cz's guide into consideration, I've decided to make some updates to my multiplayer MBC deck. Any input is appreciated...
I'm struggling with whether or not to run Mutilate over Damnation...I'm considering dropping 2x Blood Tithe and running 4x Damnation and 2x Mutilate. Also I think 4x Kokusho is one or two too many but for whatever reason I'm hesitant to cut any of them.
Yeah...Gideon is an afterthought side theme; something that can survive a Wrath and attack once the board is empty. Heliod could do the same thing though without the drawback of being directly attacked.
Are you really saying that removing bad 2 drops for SFM + Batterskull/Swords/Umezawa's Jitte doesn't make sense? Because it makes a lot of sense to me.
I don't recall you suggesting adding equipment in your previous post. I suppose it was implied...but it could have also been a general statement. Like Tarmogoyf is better than Steadfast Guard.
Scepter of Dominance was in the deck when it was a 1:1 deck, as was Path to Exile. The two drops aren't much until you start in with the Flickerwisp tricks. They combo well with Sun Titan & Emeria, the Sky Ruin recursion also. Yeah, I guess Stoneforge Mystic would otherwise be a better choice than my 2 drops...but since I'm not running any Equipment it doesn't make much sense.
The general game plan is to perform the Flickerwisp dance until I wipe the board and either drop a Sun Titan or turn Gideon Jura into a creature. By then I usually have enough Plains to bring back multiple creatures each turn via Emeria, the Sky Ruin and an attacking Sun Titan.
Yes the deck can be slow but it does have early game plays to provide some defense. Maybe Leyline of Sanctity and Gideon Jura can come out for some mana rocks?
I recently rediscovered an old casual MWC deck of mine that I'd like to revamp for multiplayer. I've already replaced things like Path to Exile and Oblivion Ring with better multiplayer options but, as you can probably tell by some of my card choices, a few sets have come and gone since I've last played; and there may be better options out there for what I'm trying to accomplish.
I guess it all depends on how much work you're willing to do. The ebay prices are already starting to come down...so you have to ask yourself if the time and effort of reselling multiple Mind Seize decks is going to be worth the hundred or so dollars you'll make.
Might make more sense to sit on them for a year or two before reselling...
I am in favor of strict moderation in terms of social interaction; foul language, insults and rude comments have no place on these boards.
My one and only warning happened when I replied to two messages in the same thread; my posts were merged and I was called out for spamming even though I contributed two unique responses to two different posts. In my eyes this is a bit excessive; though I'm sure the mod was just following his marching orders.
