Started a build based off of what you have going on; looks super fun. The playgroup arms race has certainly spun up a bit in my playgroup; excited to build this out a bit.

Have you considered Darksteel Mutation? 1v1 it's incredible, multiplayer it at least shuts down a general and makes it trickier to remove.

Is your list current still? (Sadly I'm without a few of those fun spendy cards, but making some fun changes of my own :P)

    Thank you!

Re: Darksteel Mutation, I like Prison Term better, but it's an okay substitute.

Not quite up to date but nearly.

Among others, I picked up a Teferi, Master of Time and a Hullbreacher.

We could ask Osie if he wants to move his french poem game to MC once sign ups fill here (if the people currently in it are amendable to the plan). As part of the trial of MC I mean.

    I could certainly do that.

    Question:

Birgi, God of Storytelling plus Tuskeri Firewalker or is that too far down the rabbit hole?

Imma test Tibalt's Trickery for sure. I love the fact that you don't see it coming, and I'm looking forward to the time I'm countering my own Curse of Opulence to reveal a Warstorm Surge after using SDT.

Also, I really overlooked Pyre of Heroes. I'm not a Pod fan in commander, but as you know I do run the goblin package. And saccing a token to fetch Goblin Welder. Also, the chain would go Norin the Wary --> Mogg War Marshal --> Squee, Goblin Nabob --> Krenko, Mob Boss.. Unchecked off course, and slow, but still... that's sweeeet. And good value and alternatives along the way.

    You can Krenko into Kiki-Jiki...

not to burst anyone's bubble but...you can't SDT in the middle of resolving tibalt's trickery.

Yeah, so it might just nombo, but it's worth a try if the deck lends itself to the card. My feeling is that it won't be nearly as exciting as ideal, but oh well. (I picked up an ugly-border (extended art) Tibalt's Trickery from the one pack of Kaldheim I opened, so I'll at least goldfish it some.)

    Kaldheim Review:

Divine Gambit - Not a terrible card but there are better options.

Reidane, God of the Worthy - If only it was non-basics instead of just snow lands, I'd consider it more readily.

Righteous Valkyrie - This card is nuts synergy with Geist. Definitely at least testing it out.

Alrund's Epiphany - If the foretell was for 1-2 mana less, I'd seriously consider this card.

Depart the Realm - Cool card, but not quite as effective for its cost as I'd like.

Karfell Harbinger - Okay for Wizard tribal, not quite what I'm going for here.

Mystic Reflection - Interesting trick... Not quite worth it though.

Ravenform - Again, interesting idea. If this was an instant and Foretell didn't cost so much, I'd consider it more readily.

Niko Aris - Meh, Shards are just too mana intensive.

Gates of Istvell - Not worth the cost.

Glacial Floodplain - Cool that it's fetchable, but I'll run the cycling one first.

Hengegate Pathway - Well, it's not fetchable, but it does ETB untapped, and as such, is an easy consideration for the landbase.

Tyrite Sanctum - At the moment, this is a soft consideration given the fact it only produces colorless mana. This may become more of a consideration at some point, actually, since it seems incredibly good for what it is.

    Kaldheim Review:

Burning-Rune Demon - Interesting concept, not quite effective enough execution.

Draugr Necromancer - I'd consider a 3-drop version of this.

Dream Devourer - This seems really damn good. Setting up combo pieces and hiding them from people is solid, and playing, say, Painter's Servant, on turn 3 for 0 would be actually ridiculously good.

Replicating Ring - Too slow, but kinda cute.

Tyrite Sanctum - If the land slots weren't tight as is, I'd consider running this as a backup plan card. I might still consider it. Attacking with XHD is always fun.

    Kaldheim Review:

Birgi, God of Storytelling - Both sides of this card are quite interesting for Norin. Definitely a consideration, though at the moment, I'm not QUITE there on it.

Goldspan Dragon - I sorta like the idea of going all-in on a treasure subtheme, but at the moment it's not quite good enough. This would be a definite contender for that subtheme.

Magda, Brazen Outlaw - Same point as Goldspan Dragon about this being good for a treasure subtheme.

Quakebringer - Meh. For 5 mana this doesn't do enough, and the foretell ability isn't enough to justify it.

Tibalt's Trickery - This MIGHT be worth it. I do like me an unexpected counterspell, and you can use it to set yourself up, particularly if you get lucky with the numbering.

Toralf, God of Fury - I sorta want to do some shenanigans here too, but again, the effect's not quite worth it for its cost. A bit too niche.

Pyre of Heroes - Norin meets Pod? Might be good for the Goblin decks.

Replicating Ring - Too slow, but kinda cute.

As a theorycraft for the lolz, this is what the start of a treasure package might look like:

I'm less and less interested in playing around with neighborhood chats after seeing this and the game on MC that played with hood chats.

I've been unexcited by chatty games for a WHILE now, yeah.

Many of the DLP regulars play here, but they only post signups in their own forum once in a blue moon and their forum software is... maybe worse than Curse for mafia, truth to tell
It's hard to think of a forum software less suited for mafia than DLP's, especially in recent years.
    And I've played in 2+2.

Badly modded Xenforo I suppose is worse than unmodded Xenforo.

    JESUS. *******. CHRIST.
What made you decide on Bur over me? Did you get fooled at all by my attempt to draw the NK?
Nope. We blocked you just in case though.
Actually before that point, I was going to shoot you.
Awww. So I blew it with my more overt attempt near the end there.
    Sad now.

Yeah I was passively gaining Vit. I was trying to get you to shoot me.

If Sloth had drained you in addition to the NK, he still could kill you. Vaimes was the only player truly bulletproof that night.

These are really the only cons, to my mind? Besides upkeep costs if the site continues to grow, anyway

There's an argument for increasing the yearly costs for the hosting space to increase bandwidth and all that jazz, if the site grows significantly. As mentioned, I'm pretty sure we could keep things stable, as for growing? Probably slowly, but there's definite possibilities.

I do prefer the MU vote counter/history features but I do without them here and at DLP where I've played occasionally (I... actually have a spreadsheet rigged to give me basically the same info, I can just keep using that tbh)

Already looking into the difficulty of implementation on this. Wink

I would add to the cons of MC the fact that they themselves might have to move, and therefore going there could result in us having to move a 2nd time. The smaller playerbase con would also be that we would still be struggling to fill games most likely.

Honestly, if we pull together the larger site costs of 2022, we could pretty much keep going until 2025 just on the strength of recruitment power from the current MC senior staff (ScarletCelestial, Kaitou, Osie, Prophylaxis, Wisp). There are two major reasons why talk of MC as a site shutting down has even been in peripheral vision, which are the pandemic and the site costs. The site costs are a little hefty for one person with the pandemic negatively impacting site traffic, but split between even 3 people, let alone something like 5+, are not a big deal.

Like, personally, the $200 I believe we've got coming for the larger 2022 payment isn't the end of the world, but if I'm handling it solo, that means that there's not enough interest in keeping things going. Even if 3-5 people together only covered half of that, I'd be much more comfortable covering whatever's left over.

Mafia Universe and MC, a (relatively) fair comparison:
