groundswell gives the creature +4/+4 if you played a land this turn (which he did)
1+4+4=9
As for stuff happening to me? You know a night is going downhill when you lose because of an ornithopter.
Round 1 of the m11 pre-release, I got dealt a ☺☺☺☺ty pool but with stormtide leviathan, 4-5 removal spells and 2x sleep I figure I have a chance. In the first match I'm facing a UW deck and we're in game 3. I'm clinging to 6 life but just resolved my leviathan with my opponent at 17 life.
He plays clone. cloning my leviathan. I send his team to sleep and serve with stormtide, knocking him to 9. play an azure drake and pass turn, figuring I've got lethal damage waiting.
He rips ornithopter off the top and wins. I ended up going 1-3 that night.
(in case you're not seeing it, the thopter lets him block my drake. he goes to 1 and kills me on crackback thanks to his cloned islandwalking leviathan)
Me: Forest
Him: Forest
Me: Swamp, Plague Stinger
Him: Forest, Llanowar X2
Me: Forest, Swing with Plague Stinger, he doesnt block so I play X2 Groundswell to make my plague Stinger a 9/9. He goes up to nine poison.
Him: Forest, Wolfbriar Elemental with a token.
Me: Swing for 1 more poison ftw.
One guy at a PTQ basically made me declare every trigger, every step, every priority pass once he started losing.
He even made me distribute lethal damage in a process that wasted about 5 minutes. (I was playing Jund, and he was playing NLB/Control)
I ended up winning the match, but at the end, he felt he was obligated to say "That wasn't a good game" when I offered to shake, and then insulted my sleeves.
This guy at this weekends PTQ cheated against me, I think. The scenario:
He played Destructive Force. I have a Mana Leak in hand. When he plays it, I say "Ok" and play Mana leak (by this point he already put his lands in his GY). He told me that I couldn't Leak, because I had already said "Ok" and that meant that I allowed the Force to resolve. I didn't call a judge, because the kid was close to a nervous breakdown as it was. I went on to win the game anyway, but that made me mad. I'm not sure if he was right or not. Any judges can answer?
You did pass priority by saying OK. I'm no judge, but I think Force guy is right.
And the wording sounds wrong, should be Conceal (When this card enters the battlefield, you may exile a nonpermanent card in hand that costs less. When this card is put into the graveyard from play, you may play the exiled card from exile without paying its mana cost.) Sorta like Cascade.
4 Plague Myr
4 Plague Stinger
4 Precursor Golem
2 Doom Blade
4 Duress
2 Go for the Throat
4 Steady Progress
4 Tainted Strike
4 Turn Aside
8 Island
8 Swamp
What should I do to improve this?
Also, should I use Stoic Rebuttal instead of Turn Aside?
Oh derp. I was thinking of Primal Bellow.
I must be tired. But how does he become a 9/9?
Insulted your sleeves? Wow.
