Jin, thanks for bringing that up. I think this should be worth a little more consideration. Pringlesman posted this on the Legacy mainpage recently (hello 700+ fetches) and it's also something I've been thinking about a lot recently: Duals are not the reason colorfixing is so easy in Legacy. Duals are definitely the reason Legacy is so expensive, but without fetches duals have to be drawn and therefore lose a lot of value in terms of fixing. It's almost absurd in some ways when you consider that you can go Wooded Foothills -> Tropical Island on one turn and Scalding Tarn -> Plateau on the next if you really wanted.

Fetchlands are literally the most ubiquitous cards in the format, and banning them would shake the format up way more than some of the cards we're discussing would (no, not Necro, don't be stupid, but banning the fetchlands would surely have more impact than unbanning Worldgorger Dragon or whatever). I'm in no way suggesting a fetchland banning - and it's in no way likely - but people should recognize that when the average number of fetches per deck is 6.6, the fetches have a pretty dominant grip on the format.

Bread Connoisseur, do you really think that people would run Rocky Tar Pit and friends or Thawing Glaciers? That would slow down the meta more than Misstep ever did IMO. I can't see a competitive tricolor deck doing well when the only fixing is CIPT lands or Scars lands.

In relation to this deck, Phyrexian Obliterator is also on the rise.

    LOL...on a lighter note...I think:

K-Mart here is charging $4.49 per booster pack of DKA. I WAS going to buy a couple packs up until I had seen THAT hike. I know it's only a $0.50, but I can't turn a profit like that, especially if I get jank rares. Muh

Also note, Market Street rules have changed. It's rather odd that we can have "Hall of Shame" lists, but not "Hall of Fame" lists. Does anyone else find this...odd?

Hah....Ha. Go check out this thread in CI. Most of us here commented on it already. Glad to see that they finally did something about it.

Thanks Aardvark Grin Yeah we did do a LOT of transactions haha. I think I'll hold the top trader spot on the iTrader system for quite awhile even after I'm gone Wink

Really sad to see you go, Josh Frown I know we also had close to 10 transactions (nowhere near 30 though). We''ll miss your presence here.

PsiJet - This is like the only time I ever get an event this close Smile Big legacy events and IL is like a twice a year thing. Looks like only Malacoda and me are going though, I'd give him even odds of making top8, his deck is certainly a beating for several matchups.

Yup. I always have to travel if I want to play Legacy. Thanks man, I hope so! Been testing a lot against Maverick and I have to say that resolving a Cursed Totem is often GG, really glad I put it in the board.

so your argues for the Tower of the Magistrate are all thing that Maze of Ith can do, but the Tower can't resolve other problem like 4^ Maze of Ith, right?

it doesn't seem a good choice..

It is a sideboard option for Stoneblade/Maverick heavy metas. You're correct in saying that it isn't Maze of Ith. You're incorrect in saying it's bad because a) it produces mana where Maze of Ith doesn't, b) it gets around things like Needle on Maze or Waste Maze -> Surgical Maze, and c) it actually kills the token rather than just fogging it. Please try playing with the cards before blindly discounting them. The card isn't going in all builds of the deck and it isn't always good. But when it's good, it's really good.

It is also one of our best options against the Forgemaster deck since they use Lightning Greaves and Maze of Ith sucks against Greaves.

    Error Cards

You've got a ton of really awesome stuff. Can you tell me what the error is on the Desert and the two red cards? I know about the Shadow Lance and Gruul Guildmage ones, but not these.

You're right in that Batterskull is rarely a problem. However, I run 3 Maze of Ith. I'm not guaranteed to have one. A 4/4 can kill me pretty quick if I can't answer it. Tower of the Magistrate destroys the token instead of stalling it, forcing a Batterskull bounce or a re-equip to another creature. It also prevents things like Jitte from getting activated, which can kill my dudes (Dark Confidant) postboard, and prevents my opponents from getting huge advantage off, say, Sword of Feast and Famine. It's just a nice option to have against Stoneblade, and it's a strict sideboard card. That wasn't made clear in the posts above you Grin

I was talking a few days ago about this with someone and recently and found out that they can be worth a fair amount. I see regulars selling for 35-50, but are japanese ones worth 100+ as I've heard?

And why do japanese cards demand such a high premium?

    Ones of what?

So if everyone knows about Japanese foils, what is the next pimp style to be cornered in the market? I would like to know so I can get an early jump on it.

Russian, and you're a bit late Grin

I'd like to see the Unopened Product as well. The only thing I can find at Wal-Marts, Targets and Meijers in my area are Precons, Vintage packs and some Commander Decks.

I'm not sure if showing a pic would help, but at least I'd know what to look for then. Does anyone else live near Central Ohio that knows of a Wal-Mart or Target that might carry these?

I'm in Northern Ohio and the Wal-Mart I went to today had absolutely zero MTG product whatsoever in stock.

Interestingly enough, junk foils are a lot harder to find in foreign than staple foreign rares. The demand's there for it. For instance, it's taking me a lot longer to find a foil Russian Capricious Efreet than it took me to find 3 of my 4 Russian Life From the Loam.

You can always try eBay.__ for the respective countries. I used cardplace.ru for my last big Russian shipment - just be careful navigating the website. MKM and MOTL are very good sources for these kinds of things too as they have a lot of European and Asian members.

Ancient Tomb would help with ramping pretty decently. Keep in mind that you can only use Braid of Fire mana on your upkeep.

I get that Mordant Dragon is a 6 as opposed to 7, but I think Balefire Dragon is just better. I would probably run Seething Song in here still, maybe over some of the burn.

If you put an English Vault next to a foreign Vault, you'll notice that the coloration and definition is way better on the foreign ones, kind of like Unlimited vs Revised duals (but actually more noticeable).

I don't recognize the autograph on that Chrome Mox. Slant

Also, how rare are Marit Lage tokens with a line through them compared to one's without? I can't claim to have seen very many of either kind.

Yeah, me neither. No idea whose it is :\

Eh. Cutline foils aren't hugely rare. Value-wise, they're close to the same of minor misprints in general - niche, but sometimes you can get a bit extra.

That said, given that this is a Marit Lage foil, it could easily be worth a fair bit more.

I'm sure there have been threads devoted to a similar question before, but do any other members or friends of the Guild collect one certain card (or card type, like in Psi's sig) for any reason? 1) I'm curious, and 2) It gives me better ideas for throw-ins on deals.

I have another Beatdown Sengir for you as well Smile

I kind of collect a few:

    Scythe Tiger (have about 40?)
Moon effect cards: Blood Moon, Moonhold, Turf Wound, Pardic Miner, Magus of the Moon (I have about 3 sets of Blood Moon and a few of each of the others).

And I somehow ended up with about 3 sets of Life From the Loam which is actually pretty cool because I have 9 copies in current decks XD

I used to collect StenchskipperFoil. They were decently hard to find, actually.

I just posted some of my latest pickups in the Pimp thread.
