I appreciate there being some interest in reading my post. But, I really am at a point where I don't know the best option for this project. I've played off and on for the past 20+ years, so I'm sure there are plenty of options I've never even heard of. Please help a guy out. Thanks.
Greetings. I am a huge One Piece fan. As such, I wanted to build a commander deck that really fits with one character. I plan to do a number of them. But, I wanted to start with Roronoa Zorro. For those that don't know, he's a swordsman that aims to be the best in the world. So, I had the idea to build a volition style deck with all the swords I can. The question is, who would be the most accurate candidate for commander? I know there are plenty of choices. But, I don't want "oh, here's X. Just pretend." Like, I've thought about Godo. But, I'm not sure if he's the best option. I'm looking for playable, but FLAVORFUL. I plan on getting a copy of whatever commander altered to show Zorro. If this goes well, I'm excited to try the rest of the crew. I don't have a decklist because I'm still trying to figure out who best feels like Zorro. Thank you in advance.
Ok, so this seems to be the most active thread on Saskia. My question is, is there another way to go besides hatebears, infect, or like human tribal? I was thinking something like using the damage doublers and maybe Bedlam effects to make games quick. Any thoughts?
Thank you Teysa_Karlov, and the rest of you. While I'm not super excited to play blue, Azami is pretty insane...and, the nice thing is that blue does two things, really...permission, and draw. And, as long as you can meet certain conditions, less expensive options exist for the more expensive options (i.e. Foilor Thwart for Force of Will, Gush for Ancestral Visions, etc.) I love green. But, not having access to a "real" Gaea's Cradle makes things waaaaayyyy harder. With that being said, I guess it's off to the drawing board...lol.
I actually have a slightly related question. A few guys in my group actually have finely tuned "competitive" commander decks i.e. Food Chain Prosh, etc. I would like to build something that could stand up to that so they don't have to keep those decks boxed to be "fair". While I appreciate that, I would enjoy playing against those decks, if I have a chance. Which brings me to my issue. I do not have a large budget. Are there any ACTUALLY COMPETITIVE commander decks that can be built on a budget? I have been searching high and low, and I can't find anything that's really competitive that I'm not having to buy swords or Cryptic, or whatever for...I'd like to think something non blue mono-colored could work. But, what??? I'm not trying to hijack the thread. I just don't know where else to ask the question.
Hello all,
I have googled this, and I could no find anything clear. What exactly is the ruling on Inala, Archmage Ritualist with something like Docent of Perfection? Meaning, say you cast Docent, then you create the copy with the Eminence effect, then you play any instant or sorcery with a third wizard on the field, do you both Docents transform? I feel like there's an easy answer to this. But, I've been wrong, before. Mahalo, in advance.

Ok, so I'm sure this is a terrible idea. But, here's the deal. I was going through my cards, and I came across <c>Faerie Noble<c>. One of the only lords for the far. Now, I've been looking for some ideas for a Faerie commander deck. But, everything I see is B/U Oona. Or, something in that vein. My question is, can a fairly decent far deck be built? Googling fae in MTG comes up with a few options in almost every color, except red. Your thoughts?
I'm not sure if this has been asked before. And, frankly, I think it's a silly question. But, I'm wondering...if I'm playing, say Bant, and I attack with a Black creature. Then, the defender blocks with a pro-black creature, could I use the ability to say that the creature still takes the damage?
I know what the words are on the ability. I just don't know if saying "damage cannot be prevented" is different than saying "target creature loses 'protection from X'". Thank you in advance.
Thank you, Gashnaw and Funk Dragon. And, to everyone else. I'm really looking forward to building this IRL. I hope to be able to post my findings, as well. As I said before, I'm on the fence about running the oaths like Ajani's and Jace's. Aside from Oath of Nissa, is there any of the oaths that I would truly be hurting without? Looking at them, Ajani's and Giddeon's. Would likely be the ones I "justify" Having walkers cost less and come in with one more loyalty seems pretty good. But, maybe I'm just better with ramp and proliferate? The mana/land from ramp would help with more than just walkers. And, the extra counter can be added other ways. But, having the chumps could be big...I'm only asking because people are always asking if I'm adding them when I mention the deck idea. The last two cards I'm thinking of running are Call the Gatewatch and Deploy the Gatewatch. Are they worth the slots? I mean, it's not like I'm only running a few walkers I want to find specifically...like looking for Elspeth in a Soldier deck. Still...thoughts?
I'd like to stay away from that if possible. Think of it as a deckbuilding challenge. That gender bending does sound interesting. But, I'm already on the fence on even including the oaths from the male walkers. I know the ladies don't play well with each other. I'm really wondering what I can use to fill in the slots after 37 lands and like 37 walkers...unless I just use two versions of each lady...
