Goyf barely sees any play (if at all) in eternal formats these days. It's been eclipsed by bigger and better things.
Even in standard it would just be ok. It's a vanilla creature that gets stone walled by a 1/1.
Getting lands in the grave is pretty hard in standard.
Most card types we see are:
1- Creature
2- Instant
3- Sorcery
4- Planeswalker
That makes it on average a 2 mana 4/5 with no other abilities. Personally, I think it would be just fine. People might think "wow goyf in standard" and then never actually end up laying it cuz green has better things to do than cast a french vanilla cookie monster. I can buy into this.
I'm confused about how y'all distracted by the pretty picture and the ultimate because this card is damn awful.
1) It starts with 2 loyalty, which means the ONLY thing you can do is tick it up.
2) That first ability effectively does nothing.
3) In order to activate the second ability (making it make a 4/4 flyer), it takes two turns. And a 4/4 flying token on turn 4 is pretty much on par with the curve. Which is to say, nearly unplayable unless it does something else.
4) Why on earth would you play this over Narset, which impacts the board immediately and generates card advantage???
Seriously guys, this is unplayable chaff, just like the 3 mana Jace. Too bad cuz the art is great on it.
Any good 0 CMC instants to cast as well for added value? Only one I could think of is Evermind but it seems too much of a waste of a deck slot just to make finale cantrip.
Nope. The only other instants are pacts, and it's probably not a good idea to cast those on T2.
This is not a card that's intended to be played fairly. You could have this on T1 one (mountain, SSP, electrodominance). That's...a lot of power on T1.

I'm amazed that they'd be willing to print something like this but am definitely pumped.
For example, Nexus decks in standard (UG/x) struggle big time vs a deck like Mono Blue.
This land alone answers problematic permanents like a one drop enchanted by curious obsession (they have so many counters to back up the threat that it's impossible to get rid of it).
And all you need is 3 other mana. That's huge game.
this will hopefully get confirmed later (otherwise ill look like an idiot...) but i was told (from the Chinese tabao boards) that ugin would be like this:
6 mana 4 loyalty
Colourless spell you cast cost 2 less to cast
+1: create a 2/2 spirit. Exile top card of your library face down, you may look at it. When the spirit leaves the battlefield, put the exile card into your hand.
-3: destroy target permanent thats one or more colours
considering what we've seen so far, that seems on par with the power level.
