I'm quite shocked and disappointed to say the least because I ordered the artifact Secret Lair x4 which hasn't even been shipped out yet, and now I can't even use the cards!
WTF Wizards?
What kind of scandalous bait and switch is that?
Do you like intentionally upsetting your own paying consumers?
Step 1: Design pushed competitive game pieces
Step 2: Design obvious combo piece to synergize with and improve competitive recently printed game piece
Step 3: Sell premium alternate art copies of said cards directly to the consumer at a mark-up for people who may have missed them the first time around
Step 4: Ban them so players who haven't even received their reprint shipments yet can't even use them in the formats they were intended for.
Really?
Can anyone explain the logic behind this process?
Can combo decks only exist in vintage without players getting upset when they lose to them?
I specifically ordered that lair because I didn't have walking ballistas or arcbound ravagers (I couldn't care less about darksteel colossus which I was planning to sell immediately), but now I feel like a sucker who paid a premium for nothing, and I don't even have my order yet! Unbelievable! Is the combo even viable in modern? Seems way too slow, and I certainly don't need ballistas for commander. I had bett4r open some sweet stained glass window walkers in those lairs to make up the loss or I'll never take the bait for one of these overpriced special edition products again!
WotC spoke before about the ballista/heliod combo and how they were watching it. That alone should have given you the sign that ballista was on the chopping block eventually. I think you'd need to be a bit silly to think that they'd never ban it in Pioneer. You can still play it in modern/legacy though.
As for who was talking about Legacy...Legacy has NOT been healthy for quite a long time. They finally got around to banning astrolabe though. But I assure you that Legacy is not fine. Oko is a huge problem still. The only reason why you think that legacy is doing "ok" is because it's barely played on any level of competition.
The more i see of this the more it's become obvious that this set was a mishmash of rejected EDH reprints and whatever was left over from an angry nerds meeting.
And they are charging over 100$ for some packs. If I didn't think Hasbro was laughing at us suckers before, I sure do so now.
Why on earth did you preorder, it‘s been the same with those sets for years now.
Especially ridiculous given the pricetag of those boxes...
Well with the few leaked cards I thought it looked good. Plus the last masters set i cracked quite a few boxes off and was pretty happy with it. This though...I should have known since it wasn't targeted specifically at Modern...(even though it almost seemed like it with the advertising).
I'm waiting for the cycle of the Kami Gods getting a reprint here now at Mythic lol
So guys/girls....this is probably a dumb question but double masters...is this all modern legal cards? Like...is Exploration now modern legal? If that's the case, that alone gives me a reason to play garbage fire modern...
This was my point too, it would suck to open a $16 pack and get a $3 rare or mythic. It would also suck even more to buy a $300-$400 box and find out all your rares and mythic amount to about $150-$180.
I mean if you buy a standard box for $110 and you get $60 worth of rares/mythic it already feels pretty bad, but imagine buying something 3 times as much, the feeling should be 3 times as strong. I mean if there is only one $100 card in the set and the rest are $50 or less in value then it'll be hard to justify the price of the box at $300 unless you can get 6 of those $50 cards in the box whether they may be rares/mythics/foils or whatever.
It's like buying a Collector's pack for $20 and when you open it you get $8 worth of cards in value, or even $10, it feels bad.
As someone who bought an Iconic Masters pack and pulled Channel, let me tell you - it sucks.
Just want to point out that you can do so much worse. Go check out Alpha Investments opening videos. Recently there's one where someone threw money in the trash by buying a box. That product was such a joke AND a rip off at the same time.
quite an ironic necro-thread, if you think about it.
I get what you're trying to say, but this word does not mean what you think it means.

At 6 mana it's too expensive to see any real competitive play, but holy smokes my johnny senses are tingling. When you can get the value out of this it's awesome.
I disagree wholeheartedly. Anytime a card offers THIS many options, it's entirely worth considering. This card is NEVER dead. I think you better prepare yourself to see this thing...A LOT. Take note that the bouncing portion of the card does not state "opponent"...
I don't know if anyone has ever seen or posted this video, but this particular lawyer directly addresses the reasoning behind why WotC painted themselves in a corner with the reserved list
However, this gave me an idea. WotC made that promise. What if...Hasbro simply dissolves WotC entirely? Hasbro was not the one that made that promise. Would they still have to uphold it?
I've always a hard time wrapping my head around this thing.
So if you cast this, do you draw 2? Because it counts itself no? If the spell checks the grave for copies upon resolution, wouldn't the card itself be in the grave at that time?

And with so many of them, you're guaranteed to hit half your box full of complete garbage. What a sham.
Well when you wake up tomorrow, you'll have cards to wake up to! it's the same for me, it's 9:57PM, Monday right now. Not so in the states...
That feels really underwhelming...maybe those lands will be super sick...

Basically, it just can't be done by WotC.
