The haste ability on the Phoenix should have not been dependent on Tribute.

Still isn't as big as Desecration Demon Frown
I totally agree. The card would be less complicated also. It's still a cool card

Hero of Iroas is fantastic.. it'll be fun with Fate Foretold and Hopeful Eidolon

What if, it sounds crazy but it would be an interesting approach, the new garruk will not be green but black. This way they can reprint both chandra and garruk from M14 and also bring something new for us. For blue I can see Jace Beleren and for white maybe Gideon Jura or Elspeth Tirel? That's just wishfull thinking but they should print garruk caller of beasts at least two times consecutively to follow their established tradition.
    We'll see.
This is my favorite idea so far. I really want to see the Planeswalker subtypes to become relevant, and the only way for this to happen is to crowd up options for the Lorwyn Five, though I'd also like to see Jace just stop being a thing

Hunting bigger game, tying into Big Game Hunter, tying into madness, tying into discarding, tying into Waste Not. I've solved it.
    Yes.

I'm embarrassed I hadn't thought of this earlier, but has anyone else thought it would be very appropriate to see a Muse cycle in BNG or JOU?

Reprinting the last cycle would probably be a lot less exciting than making a new one. Personally, I'd be happy seeing another monocolored rare cycle or a multicolored rare cycle. Or are there any myths that would translate well into a Legendary creature card?

If I could have my way, I would want a rare cycle of enchantment creatures with abilities that trigger at each upkeep. Has anyone else given this some thought?

I think she's fantastic. I'm totally ok with planeswalkers sucking in standard and fuzuckin' ruling in casual, as god intended

I really really like the idea of loading up with Hidden Strings, Mizzium Skin, Scourgemark, and Fate Foretold as the primary heroic enablers with at least 1-2 Agoraphobia (as a "5 drop" to repeat the edict effect). But with only 4 Agents, it definitely seems necessary to load up on Heroic triggers so you don't end up with a hand full of "half cards." Tormented Hero, Artisan of Forms, and Triton Fortune hunter are the cards I'm looking at to turn it into a UB Heroic deck.

Far // Away seems really great. As a 5-drop, save your Agent and double-edict them, or use Away on yourself to sacrifice a creature enchanted with Fate Foretold in niche situations..

1 Aetherling as a back-up plan in a slow game, and I have 1 Jace, Memory Adept for the side-board in case it's a non-reanimating control deck.

I thought there was a lot of fussing over maintaining the balance of the colors, which was the point of printing the scrylands in the same groupings as RTR/GTC, so that each color is represented evenly? (I guess they could have shuffled them a little bit, right? Like swapping Boros w/ Azorius and Dimir w/ Rakdos? Whatever, so not important)

I'm really really interested to hear the reasoning

I was thinking the fates would make a neat general until I realized that it's adorable with Fate Transfer...but technically blue is too much blue! So based on that alone, it looks like a regular casual Fates theme-deck will be more fun. And yes, "fun" means I'm sleeving up a playset of Prophecy with an Ihsan's Shade :p

    Flametounge isnt standard legal.
I know, I called it 2.0 for the sake of comparison, though I think the Minotaur seems even better.

Would Peak Eruption be good in the mirror, or is this deck usually never going to care about losing a land? Also, new 1-drop Satyr that just got spoiled seems kinda cool, but 2-mana firebreathing that burns you seems dumb.

I'm a little bit shocked that only one person mentioned Fanatic of Mogis. Cackler, BTE, some 1R dude, Reckoner, and Flametongue Kavu 2.0 seems pretty good on paper

I haven't played standard in a long time, but if this deck has potential I think it looks like a lot of fun. I'll bet some of the same-color hosers would be really good sideboard cards (the green one is crappy, I don't know how useful the red one is when you don't care about damage, but maybe gainsay is worth a few slots?).

Do you think Obzedat's Aid has any potential in this deck, like if your gates get blown up or milled? It seems like grabbing one of your gates that way speeds up your Maze victory pretty significantly and could make things really complicated for your opponent.

Do you really need 4 Maze's End? I imagined 2 or 3 would be more reasonable since you really never need more than one, do you?

I don't know what to think about this card. All of the abilities make perfect sense, and it's definitely not underwhelming. I feel like it should have costed more, but at 3, it seems like it's almost always going to hit the board as an enchantment, then become a creature, which is how the design needs to work to make sense.. and it's neat to have the Gods be a real part of the battle instead of just flashy finishers at the end. Does it need all 4 abilities? I guess scry is the one you'd have to lose but there's so much flavor..

Oh here's a funny rules question... If you wanted to Birthing Pod your God, do you need to meet the Devotion requirement, or is Devotion an ability that only applies on the battlefield, making it lose a card type it would otherwise have in hidden zones?

I hope the Minotaur is RWU, but maybe RW is more likely

Witch's Eye!! I'm sure it'll play nice with the new witch. So much witch love, witches are the best

All of this is good news. Everyone knew there'd be Fates, and I'm sure the Prometheus card will be rad as hell Grin

"Gain control of target planeswalker" wouldn't be a terribly confusing sorcery (but I guess the aura would have made more sense memory-wise and for the enchantment theme). Each player sacrifices a planewalker, target player sacrifices a planeswalker, Target planeswalker is an enchantment (hahaha no). I think a new Dreadbore seems cool, maybe RG that hits Artifact or PW?

    Stuff
If you really want to avoid the social contract and avoid paying taxes, you really do have two choices. You can forgo ALL benefits that come with accepting the social contract, but that would involve you going into non-protected wilderness and not working for anyone who also benefits from the social safety net. Death Valley probably has some places for you or the mountains in the Rockies. I am not telling you to leave the country, I am telling you to leave society. The other choice you very really do have, is to get a bunch of like minded people together and have the law changed.

We give up rights to live in society. We give up the right to kill other people. We also give up the right to keep 100% of stuff we work for. If you don't like it, tough. You might as well be complaining that the sky is blue or that the sun rises every morning.
Sure, people have choices in any situation, given enough ingenuity. But when the situation involves one party initiating violence against another, there is no ethical response for the victim. Do you resist the armed gunman or give them your money? Ethically, it's a meaningless question. All ethics can do is say "the gunman is a hypocrite for asserting their own right to property while denying another's." No one ever "gives up" the right to murder or to steal because they do not have those rights in the first place. No piece of paper grants a human moral superpowers or changes their fundamental nature. More technically speaking, government doesn't actually exist; like all social constructs, it is real in it's consequences, which is manifested as a terrorist organization that asserts a monopoly on the use of violence. The reason social contract theories require a retreat to "consent by tacit" precisely because it recognizes that it is not genuinely consensual.

Society is built upon mutually voluntary arrangements. People enter into such arrangements because both parties view it as win-win. Every time a person initiates force against someone else, they do so because they want to create a win-lose situation. So any initiation of force (including government, the most common example) is better understood as the opposite of society.
