Feb 21, 2011i guess what im looking at is that i dont feel like its an optimal card. burst is a great idea, and im finally liking spell pierce more and more. also you basically win the control match just like mythic did in the past. for the sole purpose that you have more threats than they have answers. im fine with frost against aggro, he does plenty imo and is always worth playing. i really like how the deck plays, but i was thinking that maybe force would be better as another mana leak or something to help stabalize and get to the titan game o.0Posted in: Terrapin Guts Blog

Feb 20, 2011so, i really liked the look of this deck, because i think it could out threat alot of decks, but i tested all last night with it, and i cant get d force to work with anything well enough. like it feels like its only good if you have jace or garruk and seal off victory, but if you have a titan out, it feels like you are already winning =[Posted in: Terrapin Guts Blog

I believe vyrn's prodigy is worth a slot. Didnt really notice anything else recently worth playing. Maybe the new double regrowth mythic dude or the bellower that tutors.
Maybe i will post my new updated list just to maybe get some juices flowing. Decided to play manacrypt and sol ring with null rod. Its just too powerful not to play
also, has anyone tried treasure cruise or dig through time? i haven't since i hate exiling my cards, but they are always in the back of my head. i don't feel like the deck needs draw power which is why i haven't added them, but they seem way too powerful to not include.
also, bane of progress is literally the best possible adition because it can be natural ordered or green sun zenith'd and never blows up any artifacts because we dont play any, well i play crucible but very few enchants so it is always a bomb.
other than hermit druid into lab man being this decks saving grace, ive been playing variants of this deck for multiple years and still love it. best edh archtype
i know gaka wont like it because its an artifact, but im not as stiff about artifacts. definitely interesting. and we do play a lot of creatures to make it work. only thing in this list is that we lack actual dredge cards due to color restrictions. i dont think i would run it but in that budget list it would be super sweet because it could make up for the loss of bazaar and some other hyper self mill cards
This is based off of gaka's list but i think that if it were to be a budget list it would look something like this or at least be a good place to start. must haves with *

Yeah it has been said and yes you could easily build this deck on a budget however it's cards like bazaar and Gaels cradle that allow you to to explode and take advantage of the extreme card advantage of Edric as well as the graveyard. But when I initially hilt the deck I did build it without the expensive cards and it was very fun.
Also natural order and some tutors are necessary to get the right creatures before you mill them sometimes if you mill all of your recursive cards and can't find genesis or he gets exiled then the deck can a feel super clunky.
Gaka what's your opinion on dark I depths and thespian stage or Vesuva? Seems super easy to slot in and very easy to slot in due to the ease in finding loam.
sure sure. give me a bit and i will assemble and post it. i dont have it saved it a doc.

planning on fitting hua tuo, honored physician, lady sun, mana drain, vendillion clique, exploration (for burgeoning), dark depths with thespian stage (and vesuva) for somethings soon as i came across them recently.
a little more combo oriented, but very proactive rather than comboing for an insta kill
let me know what you think. i would really appreciate some feedback as well as seeing you're list
i wonder how good that would be... its interesting, but kinda slow and encourages you to not play cars.... weird
i dont really see how those help with the goal of this deck, much beyond attacking. and i think that them making your hand size smaller seems pretty bad for a card drawing engine based deck like edric. if we would need that effect then flying men and his functional reprints would get the nod first.
i am however impressed by the llanowar elf type creatures for turn 2 edric. makes for many lovely new cards
Ya, the one that costs 2cmc my bad. i like him better on the curve, and he has the same utility imo
Edit: omg trickster mage is soooooo good. i like her in some ways better than waterfront bouncer. sometimes all you need is to tap down some dumb fatty to get in deep. it also works very well with the strip mine, wasteland, tectonic edge plan. i also play terrastadon to NO into if i can early. i effing love this deck
imo, the only notables would be Biomass Mutation and sylvan primordial. both are expensive, one is obv a natural order target, and the other can be nasty, but not much better than a card like Triumph of the Hordes. im not too excited about either, but i think that syvan primordial might be a good addition as we lack ways to interact. not that i want to interact, but sometimes i must.
Also wanted to say that i am currently testing cyclonic rift, and it has been very good for me. sometimes it just tempos them out by bouncing a general, and sometimes its a one sided upheaval + Tidings
Actually going down to my shop now to get:
- Survival of the fittest
- intuition
- exploration
- trickster mage
- veridian shaman
(to replace wickerbaugh elder because im sick of paying 5 cmc to nuke a perm)and a loaming shaman to replace scavaging ooze (obv not an upgrade, i just can't justify buying that card, not that i cant borrow it, but edh is not the type of format where playing with borrowed cards is cool lol)
once i do that, the deck is complete =] gonna start the real fun. Just saying, i always love playing this deck because i feel that it is doing very powerful things, but still plays with the "fun" edh players very well (no one can complain when they lose to lab maniac or 6 card combos that require 5+ creatures on the board haha) Thank you for sharing your deck, as i feel i can represent all of the people in this thread and prolly more people when i say "this is the most fun edh deck ive ever played"
anyway, surprised no one said anything about valacut and the one drop. idk if its better than omen but idk. prolly isnt better
