(oh, of course the off colour land idea will reduce your win percentage. you might not know me -- ways to be weird and to have fun are higher priorities for me than winning.)
for example, sometimes i flirt with the idea of putting in a basic land of a colour i have zero use for, just to make my opponent think that i'm splashing something super powerful.
there's also the "stall when you have priority, in order to help bluff a counterspell"
for the "General thoughts regarding this format" (thank you for that high-level synopsis, btw!), does "this format" mean 2xEldritch Moon + 1xShadows over Innistrad?
that's an insightful obversation: about not affecting the board, adn about "lots of cards are good in the late game".
i think that helps illuminate to me teh arguments about why this card could be quite bad.
(and also, it highlights the plus side to me: at least it's cheap to cast!)
@Pulse: a counterspell that replaced itself would be one of my dream things to play (for my playstyle)
chaining counterspells would be a griefer timmy's dream
i'm not very good at this kind of thing, but i'm hopeful that the smart Spikes here will be able to help you out.
good luck at learning and i hope you feel more motivated as you get better at the format!
heh, that's actually more damning an evaluation than i was expecting! i was thinking that making your opponent draw (say) a land and two small creatures, instead of a potential (say) land and two good mid-range cards .. might be worth a card?
but thanks for trying to find the best case scenarios. this is instructive to me for my own card evaluation skills, when i see how far off they are.
i always loved how quirky and troll-y Misinformation was.
if it was in SOI, do you think it could actually be worth a card? which kinds of decks would want this the most?
Dire Womat, when you use the word "spell" here, in "drawing a spell is better than drawing a card", are you using it in the official meaning of spell (ie "something on the stack" ie a non-land), or are you using it in the mtg slang sense (ie "an Instant or Sorcery") ?
WyvernSlayer, how many Instants and Sorceries do you try to get in your Rise from the Tides deck? sometimes i feel that it's ahrd to get 14-16 quality instants and sorceries, enough of which actually help me stay alive. especially given that (for example) blue's best removal is an Enchantment?
huh, that's right, at least it does help delirium
it's too bad taht there are no instants and sorceries that get better with delirium, as far as i remember, though!
there's also the "stall when you have priority, in order to help bluff a counterspell"
what other silly mind games can a person do?
