At least more than 2 as there's also one that cares about rarity.
Jun 29, 2017Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype DiscussionQuote from Star Slayer »A land that becomes a spell later is really, really useful. Even if it is a bad spell, it is basically an additional spell drawn for free. And sacrificing a land is a negligible cost later in the game, unless your deck has a really high curve.
A spell land for a higher cost is okay.
Sacrificing a land for a good effect is okay.
Putting together a high cost and sacrificing a land is where the problem lies here.
Jun 29, 2017Our Planeswalker desnsity is insanely high, so I'm pretty sure this is going to make the cut, especially since a lot of our blue based control decks end up as UWr or URw most of the time anyway.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion

We drafted Pelakka Wurms so much that it earned a permanent retirement home slot in our cube..love that card.
This card is slightly weaker in that it probably will never gain as much life as the wurm, and doesn't give you a card back when it dies, but Scrying is always nice and it's easier to cast, so there's that.

Give me instant speed Strategic Planning, or Strategic Planning that digs for 4 (or both!) plz WotC.
Anticipate and Impulse but they don't put the cards in the graveyard, so I guess it's different.

Catch // Release
Gain control of target permanent until end of turn. Untap it. It gains haste until end of turn
Each player sacrifices an artifact, a creature, an enchantment, a land and a planeswalker
this is a card I'm definitely happy with running, although the color combination makes me wonder where to put this...
We have a slightly larger cube so we're going to run it as a UR card.
The RW half is too expensive to even be playable really so we don't mind having Release just dangling there onto Catch.

It's alright..you're like the 100000th person to read the card wrong.
This completely hoses card draw.
You can't play this guy in response to them tapping the mana for the effect, as it happens in the resolution of the card.
You could have this guy out already and then tap out on Minds Aglow by yourself and have everyone draw the X, which would in turn make you draw all the cards instead.
Apr 16, 2013Spicay posted a message on [[DGM]] Notion Thief (Worth Wollpert preview on Twitter)Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from MonopomanBecause that is a completely different card. This card actually gives the opponent the opportunity to think twice with this guy on the field to draw a card on your turn since he hasn't drawn a card.
I also believe if he casts sphinx's on your turn and you flash this guy in he still gets the first card drawn.
Not to mention if they ever make an emblem that gives you another card every turn or you have a token that gives you cards like a token of an Ophidian then your version does not interact with those.
The card specifically mentions that if it's a card drawn other than their first one at their draw step, then they skip it and you draw instead.
So as long as this guy is out..Think Twice is also a dead card and Revelation gives the Thief's controller all the cards.
Quote from CactuscorpusSo if a Sphinx goes off for 8, and I cast this in response, do I draw 8 or 1?
They gain 8 life and draw 0, and you draw 8.
Apr 15, 2013Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from immapwnerThis card isn't terrible, will probably see some play in block, definitely not standard.
But it can deal with with varolz, lotleth troll, and tajic quite nicely. All things that need more answers in block.
If Death Wind saw play, then any removal spell can see play.
