Day of Judgment. Most aggro decks in the current meta aren't going to care about this silly angel, And killing one titan for six mana is just retarded. Bad.

No vengevine is not a "MUST" for this deck to be competitive I have been playing leatherbacks in their place since i cant afford them. I do very well at FNM normally first place. Only decks you might have trouble with because of no vengevine is control so u/w b/u. I also dont run fauna shaman because i only own 2 and finding slots for em is like finding a needle in a haystack.

FNM is not competitive. Control decks make up a large portion of the meta, which is why vengvine is so good.

Personally I would recommend the white weenie quest deck. It's pretty competitive and I believe the most expensive card there is stoneforge mystic. It's been doing pretty well on mtgo, and I don't believe that deck sports any mythics. Smile

I agree with this. The entire check is super cheap to make, and it is pretty competitive. The other option would be elves, apart from Fauna Shaman and Eldrazi Monument, the deck is just super cheap. Even those cards aren't expensive. And Elves are tier 1.

No, I think I'm playing it right.... or.. not playing it more like it...

I don't play with Nissa, I use 4 Garruk's so I don't have the fodder to throw to the Monument. All of the elves in play I NEED to cast Ezuri, Renegade Leader's overrun or so that I have enough elves attacking so that the overrun actually has a few bodies to boost. When I start losing elves, my manabase goes down by alot and my attacks don't seem as devistating.

I only run 18 land, meaning most of my games I only have 2,3 or sometimes 4 land in play all game. With this mana base it just seems impossible to get the Monument in play when I could play a multikicked warcaller or an ezuri overrun to win the game.

That all being said.... I have alot of playtesting to do ...

If you can pay for Ezuri's overrun you can cast monument. What you are describing makes absolutely zero sense. When you can't stick Ezuri, they remove the warcaller, or garruk isn't going to be able to overrun, do you just lose? Those three things happen often.

Allies roll over elves most of the time. They pump each other for very cheap, and Kabira evangel slaughters the deck, period. You can't remove the allies, you either have a faster hand, or you lose. Sticking a monument won't even save you, since they can just call prot green and alpha strike you. Luckily, Allies fail to board sweepers and aren't very competitive.

I would go with Wurmcoil Engine. Inferno Titan is good if they have creatures out, but if he doesn't stick you just payed 6 for a bolt. 6 mana for two zombies isn't that exciting either. Wurmcoil Engine is good even if he eats Doomblade or Shatter. Also, Sarkhan to blow up your artifact hate creatures after they come into play?

T3? How can you get three counters on Zektar Shrine on turn 3 with that list?

Lol that's what I was wondering. Three counters on the Shrine, and you can drop a spires?

It looks like everyone just quit playing WW over the weekend. That...makes me sad Frown

If you were to continue playing, would you run a "traditional build" running student of warfare, kazandu bladmaster, BTE or would you run the quest build?

Well, I am still going to keep my Students, K blades, and other staple weenies. I would run the traditional build with baneslayers or sun titans for late game. It is way more consistent and you don't automatically lose if you don't get a silly combo off. I still love WW though, I'm just switching to a different deck for a while.

    Cyan,

Do you think that any form of white weenie could be considered at all competitive at the moment? Or is it really just not a viable option...

I think that a sort of equipment build would be fine, but not tier 1. We still have powerful cards to use, but U/W and Ramp are such a pain. I am probably going to run elves for a while, at least until a solid meta is established.

I have heard that someone won Idaho States with this.

I hope that is true, I didn't stick around to see the top 8 matches

I don't know. I was having to mull quite a bit, wasn't getting the quest or getting the right creatures, removal completely shut me down, naturalize hurts, Elves are insane. I even lost to a janky vampire/mortician beetle sac deck in the fifth round, because I couldn't get an armor out on time. I hope someone else had better luck then me, otherwise I am tearing this apart and going to start trying a new approach.

I ended up 30th at states, lol. I only got one quest online the entire day. Some of it was bad luck, but I don't believe this deck is consistent enough to be very competitive. I also sided expecting lots of ramp, but mostly saw WU and Elves =(
