Hurray!... so that means the next challenge is-... *scrolls up* ....wait for the winner -.-

On a sidenote: "You changed Counterbore into an Extinction-Extraction-Counterspell.The flavor text doesn't fit anymore though. This would absolutely destroy a Tribal deck.. In 60 card format not really that powerful because of the 6 converted mana cost, but in EDH resolving this agains the Sliver deck would get you ostracized " The underlined sentence made me laugh so hard I nearly fell out of my chair.... Imagen someone's face if you countered their spell then exiled mainly their entire deck O.o

    Necropotence + Wound Reflection

Need some clarification the board state was as follows:

Opponent controlled Necropotence, I controlled Wound Reflection.

Can the opponent get cards into his hand via Necropotence without being effected by Wound Reflection?

The only way I can see the possibility of this is if he activates it after the reflection trigger resolves BUT, those cards would be put into his hand the next turn instead of this one.

I've added some more cards to the lists as well as updated some of them, as well as added the two questions I've added to the bottom to try and stir some more posts to better further the goal of this thread. While I want to avoid this as best as possible I think it would help to figure out the popularity of a card in the sideboard if we post some lists also maybe find some cards not included yet in the lists. It doesn't have to be YOUR sideboard and you don't have to post only a single list but- Posting them as well as the type of focus and possible a date if it is from an older list can help.

    For example:

OT: Take out Guresome Encore, Purify the Grave, and Witchbane Orb. I've never even seen a list run any of these cards in the 75 and I don't think I've seen suggestions to run them either. Take Consecrated Sphinx out as well, I've only ever seen it run mb so it doesn't really need to be listed in a sb discussion thread. As a pro for Frost Titan: Locks down pod decks. Pro for Bloodline Keeper: Creates fliers that can block inkmoth.

There were a couple of lists online on other forums and some players were trying them out- Though I agree we do rarely ever see them they were played at one point or another. Once all the pros/cons are figured out I'll try to set up another tag saying how often that it is in a sideboard. Since this thread is trying its best to show the numbers of options and so forth for a single card for the deck I think removing a card would be counterproductive- even if it is very focused on a single aspect or deck.

As for the Snapcaster Mage arguement- This thread is focused upon the sideboard not mainboard, now- unless your suggesting to sideboard some of them lets try to avoid arguements about it. The original question I asked is if it could affect the amount you played of spells and the diversity of the board you play.

    Onto another topic then:
Sun Titan's plan seems to be dropping in popularity as of recently in our decks. Do you think though that playing a Sun Titan or more can/should affect the choices you have in your sideboard? Maybe for the possibility of recursion or not to a point it wouldn't be good enough if you didn't play Sun Titan?

My thought on this question is Yes- I'll use the example of Dead Weight here. Without Sun Titan it is a slow, 1 time use, -2/-2 but, with Sun Titan it is a recurring kill spell that can even hit Giests.

...So- I open the page from the last entry and begin scrolling back and up.... Litterally on my mind I am saying- "Why the h*** is everyone making counterspells and U/B no less! wtf!... Seriously can't any- *gets to the judging post changing* ....ooohh---"

...Will say though- IT DIDN'T HAVE TO BE UNCOMMON COPY CATS! *pouts* :p

Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, exile it, then search that spell's controller's hand, library, and graveyard for any number of cards with the same name and exile them.

It might also be people who haven't spent some decent time with their decks. I know when I originally was roughing out my list I was getting mana screwed left and right. It took a bit of time, but I'm sitting at a pretty decent land base.

This also^ usually first created lists that aren't copied 1 for 1 get mana screwed. If you get mana screwed the unresilient give up faster and tend to not try again.

So a majority of u then arent getting color or mana screwed...why is it then so many people suggest that and stick with UW or UB for the more stable mana base? I'm confused >_<

Early game you can occasionally have that ackward hand of "I have no W" or "no U" or "no B" but- late game your mana is fixed and ready regardless. Theres very few times early game you worry about not having a color- the ONLY color you really need is U. As long as you run plenty of U sources your fine. If you notice out of my 26 lands 13 of them are blue, 12 are black, and 10 are white. This is because we need U always! mostly just a single U but two is best. While black we need atleast 1 also early game and two if we want to cast Liliana early game. White however the only time we worry about it is for Day of Judgement or the occassional Oblivion Ring. By turn 4 you'd like to be hitting an unburial so we need atleast 1 W.

People may say they're getting mana screwed or fear it because 3 colors are in fact more than 2.

The Sun Titan package is in my opinion cute but- not ignorable. I've prefered running 1 Sun Titan now mainboard and 1 Phantasmal Image in the sideboard. Sun Titan is definantly a threat and the recursion warrants alot, even if it is just a land it ramps you giving you more mana to possibly counter that kill spell or forbidden again before your next turn. The Sphinx on the other hand- I've grown to dislike it.

  • posted a message on [SCD] Ponder
Ever since Ponder was shined upon by Chingsung Chang it seems a lot more people are willing to play it- even some of the people that denounced it before that. Let me be one of the few to say I disagree with his assessment. While I definantly agree the Sun Titan plan is more cute than effective I think it isn't completely denounceable as it acts as a defensive and offensive threat for us. Thats another point for elsewhere though-
On the subject of Ponder I still prefer Think Twice over it. I have tried a couple of games with Ponder and a couple of games with Think Twice with Ponder on mind. I rarely thought of "Man I wish this Think Twice was Ponder!" Instead I thought the opposite. I found it more annoying that my Ponders where in fact- Ponders...

Ponder's one saving grace is it lets you see the top three and if they are all dead cards or cards you really don't want at the time your able to shuffle them away, while Think Twice more or less forces you to take two of those cards and draw the other one. Ponder's downside however, is unless you have snapcaster mage you can't reuse it and in my opinion reusing a ponder via snapcaster tends to not be that great as well as making your opponent have an easy opportunity to kill the snap as well as play more cards since they know now that 3 of your mana is down.

The question to ask here is how often do you shuffle with ponder? Very often? Not that often? If it is often than Ponder is probably doing well in your lists. In my playtests I would rarely shuffle and simply just change some cards around maybe making it a situationally better Think Twice.

Late game Ponder isn't as great as Think Twice, Midgame Ponder is decent and Think Twice is decent, early game Ponder definantly is better than Think Twice but- are we an early game winner or a mid to late game type deck? We're mid-late... Setting up the cards that your gonna draw anyway no matter what you play doesn't do much for you.

Guess I must be pretty insane since I used to run 23 lands. Tongue

I've slowly worked up to more lands and I think I will start running 25 or 26. I feel 27 is just a bit to much.

I ran 25 for a very long period but, I would occassionally miss my turn 3 or 4 land drop which in this deck is massively problematic.

--and yes- 23 lands... you sir are near the definition of insane :p

Land count is commonly 25-27. I've heard some crazies running 24 but, the possibility of mana screw is so high I'd rather not attempt it. I recommend 26, 27 if you feel your getting a little screwed yourself.

I definantly recommend having at least a single Ghost Quarter in your land count as Inkmoth is a big problem for us- as well as a Nephilia Drownyard if you want a nice match up any mirror or control match up.
