No problem, I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around the Cavs being better than Sundering Growth, when the mono colored version of Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers are not cubeable (or borderline at best) while the mono colored versions of Sundering Growth are in almost every cube. Apologies if that wasn't clear. I guess none of those creatures have vigilance, but I don't think I'm underrating that ability.
Ah, I see your point now.
To me, the disenchant effects are played because they're necessary. They won't get played by every deck (or even mainboarded in some cases), but they need to be in the draft pool.
Since green and white already have ample disenchant spells / creatures, I wouldn't want to take up a hybrid slot with another boring (yet effective!) disenchant spell. I would want a card like cavaliers because of the impact it has on combat.
I think that Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers is significantly better than Sundering Growth. Back when it was in my cube, we used to fight over that card. the 4 toughness and vigilance let it bring the beats while still being able to block and live.
That's the way my cube has been from its inception, and I have no plan to change it. Legacy is the best format (balanced power level!) and my only gripe with the banlist is Survival of the Fittest (because it was dependent on exploiting multiple copies of vengevine).
I guess I thought it could add value because it's a colorless card that people wouldn't be wasting their top picks on, but could still play like a reach card if picked late in the game. In other words, if, for some reason, you haven't drafted that extra relevant dude or extra removal spell, this would work like that.
It also seems fun because it can abuse attacking triggers. Although I understand that Hero of Bladehold doesn't need any more help winning.
It's probably a mediocre card... it just seems like it has potential.
Artifact, 2
Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to attacking creatures you control.
I was debating about adding Reconnaissance based on some discussions I've seen, and somehow found this gem.
While cards like Tangle Wire, Ankh of Mishra, and Winter Orb are standard colorless cards to push aggro decks through, people have been fiddling around with other cards to see if they can fill the same purpose (Jinxed Choker and the like).
This card seems like it could actually be pretty viable. Without having to worry about combat damage, your aggro dudes can swing away while only having to worry about non-combat damage and kill spells.
The shadow guys are very key for black aggro and aggro-midrange. The Specter is a good general value card. Nantuko Shade very rarely gets played, and seems a bit underwhelming, so I'm leaning in that direction. Am I crazy?
I was trying to find room for blood scrivener as well with those same choices. I also went with Nantuko shade. I think its time is up.
I also think it beats Savageborn Hydra because I don't want to pump all my mana into it. I'm fine throwing it out as a 3 drop and letting it get giant while I play other dudes on curve that they also have to deal with.
Once I get a few drafts with Bellowing Tanglewurm and Overrun, I think I'll throw this guy into my Testing Zone.
I was trying to find room in my green section for Kitchen Finks so I could keep Loam Lion, Sigarda, Host of Herons, andMirari's Wake (the obvious cut), and realized that colorless is the only section where I never have trouble finding a cut. A tight cube should always have a hard time finding cuts, so it lead me to this:
I'm cutting my colorless section by 5 cards (down to 70) and adding a card to each color (73).
Also (speaking from someone with a similar cube), if Obzedat isn't cutting it, I think the next one to add is Desolation Angel. That chick single-handedly wins games.

Yes (I prefer the casting cost)
No
Absolutely
Sorry, I was bringing up Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers because I thought this thread was talking about hybrid cards specifically.
Green and white already have plenty of cubable disenchant effects. I like the value that cavaliers bring.

I hope you like the format!

Yes, Finks is the green card.
...and crap; I should have mentioned Keiga, the Tide Star ---> Aetherling on the next update.

Synergy: Battalion (Legion Loyalist), Flickerwisp, Battle Cry (Hero of Bladehold), Titans, Hellrider, Jackal Pup, Against First Strikers
Does anyone have any experience with this?
So far, the additions look like this:
(new slot) --->
(new slot) --->
(new slot) ---> Liliana's Reaver
(new slot) ---> Shrine of Burning Rage
(new slot) ---> Kitchen Finks
The best card I can think of for white is Ronom Unicorn, Reconnaissance or Kjeldoran Outpost.
The best card I can think of for blue is Ancestral Vision or Lu Xun, Scholar general.
However, neither of these feel like they are the best choice.
Which cards am I missing?

I feel ya. That's why the colorless section has been at 75 this whole time... it just looked nice.

Here are the 5 that I think are weakest:
Chimeric Idol ---> (empty)
Puppet Strings ---> (empty)
Bonehoard ---> (empty)
Palladium Myr ---> (empty)
Vesuva ---> (empty)
Anyone disagree? Am I missing anything?
Loam Lion or Sigarda, Host of Herons?
