Oct 21, 2014ShiroeTheEnchanter posted a message on Off Topic: Analyzing AurasI'm seeing this stuff right before each TCG decklist. It's basically some kind of JSON data representing the actual decklist which follows.Posted in: Articles
I checked in Firefox and Chrome, and I see this in both. If you're not seeing it, it may be restricted to my machine.

The only way that I can see the "choose creature or removal" philosophy will work right now is in limited and post-M15 Standard. Eternal formats like Vintage, Legacy, and Modern are stuck in a rut, because their total card pool includes cheap removal.
I think the best way to realize your vision (and Wizards) is to create a new eternal format and re-baseline it at M15/Theros going forward (or M15/RTR). That way, most cheap removal is gone, and there is design space for better Auras (your desire) and more balanced removal (Wizards's desire). However, that could result in a customer revolt from long-time Modern players. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Are those numerical ranges in the card text the dice roll itself or the result of (dice roll minus your hand size)?EDIT: The activated ability says that if the result is 0 or less to discard your hand, so the numerical ranges listed after it must be the possible results of the subtraction.
I had a Commander game where this interaction happened, and the entire table misinterpreted Void Winnower's ability.
That depends on the format. In Commander, I would still choose Aegis, because it's an enchantment for my Commander. If we ignore the card type, then the guard is better overall.
It's not an instant.
This will need some cards to build around, so you can draw the card you put on top or cast from the top of your library.
Thanks for informing me of how Auras work in D&D. I haven't played D&D since First Edition. I agree with your theory that this precon could introduce that new Enchantment subtype Mark Rosewater mentioned. MTG Auras where the aura grants benefits to other permanents as well as the enchanted permanent would be a mechanic that Wizards has not done very much. Making cards like that would make it less usable in a Tuvasa/Sythis deck that isn't Aura-focused. (I wouldn't use it in my Tuvasa deck.)
Sythis and Tuvasa care about any enchantment, including Auras.
It's possible for Wizards to make a Commander restricted to "Auras matter" like Siona, Captain of the Pyleas.
That is way too much of a logistical challenge that Wizards wouldn't want to waste their money on to set up. More likely, they make the text change in Gatherer and make an errata/text change announcement. When they print new versions of the cards in future product, they will have new text.
Out of Time
If I have Solemnity on the battlefield and cast Out of Time, you can't put time counters on Out of Time.
However, since Vanishing's ability has an intervening if clause and a triggered ability that only triggers if I remove the last time counter, does that mean Out of Time stays on the battlefield until it is removed in some other way?
