The art on booster is always the art present on a card of the set. But what if both this art and the one from the article the art for liliana PW card, as she glows when she use her magic ? another double sided planeswalker can be funny.
What bother me the most we this possible reprint of Vendillion and Tarmogoyf is the slot taken by them at mythics. with 15 slots for mythics in this expansion, the almost already known 2 buddy of Emrakul and the mox opal it leaves not a lot for colored mythics.
Indeed it will not be a shame to not have the dragon cycle but, as this set is also made for limited, it will not be impossible to have another cycle of mythics oriented commander / limited but not for modern playability.
My guess, and because the price of the booster pack are really prohibitive, wizards will make an annoucement of the kind :
each booster pack contains 8 common, 3 uncommon, 1 rare or mythics, 1 rare or mythics fromm MM1 and a foil. Or something along the line of planar chaos where the plane shifted card took the place of an uncommon.
This land are not shocking good, but they play also differently. Their goal is not to smooth your play this turn, but to smooth your play next turn which is not something we saw so often (Halimar depth was the only example that come to my mind).
And for the rarity, as this will be pushed as an uncommon because scry 1 is more powerful than gaining one life, I think it is rare to match the emphasis of playing mono color in this block, but this is my 2 cents thought.
Why? Why wouldn't they just reprint it? I don't understand at all. Reprint Searing Spear, don't just print a brand new card that is 100% the same as a relatively new card! Makes no sense.
The question is, does this will create a critical mass of direct damage for modern burn
The collection number of the giant is something like 192/301 but it is really hard to read due to the red frame and the smallness of the printing.
For the elf, i don't think it is so overpowered as you may think. Ok it's a token genrator for free (i.e. no resource spent outside mana), but the token has no real power (contrary of the one created by discarding a card in future sight) and you have to wait one turn to activate its capability, than wait another turn to attack with your fresh token and thus spending mana (ok only G but spending mana however).
And I confirm it is uncommon, despite my daltonism I do not confond silver et gold color for the moment ;).
Elves was and will always be strong in number, each one making other stronger. So I think this card fit well in the elf category. but if we look back to Onslaught block, remember the number of anti creature card which it contains and the power of the creature present too :).
Sorry but I do not own a scanner, if you want i can describe the illustrations but I do not think I can give them justice due to my subjectivity about taste in drawing :D.
Faerie spellmesser 1U
creature faerie and wizard common
Flash

When ~this~ comes into play, counter target spell which converted mana cost is equal or less than X, where X is the number of faerie you control
1/1
I have the month edition right under my eyes and so can confirm the information you discussed about :
First the counterspeller fairies is worded as said before :
Counter target spell of converted mana cost X or less, where X is equal to the number of faeries you control.
in addition there is also two new cards that I do not know if you have already heard about :
Dolmen's door 2
artifact rare
prevent all damage deals to attacking creatures you control
illus : Richard Sardinha
256/301
and
Perfect Imperalist 2G
creature : elf and warrior uncommon
other elfs you control gains +1/+1
G,T: put a 1/1 green elf warrior token into play
2/2
illus : scott M Fisher
220/301
this last screams for abuse in constructed I think, but is a solid pick in limited at last
As for the informations about the giant lord the exact wording is as expected :
Lord of the mourn (I hope is the english translation for french "levant" which means beginning of the day) 5R
creature: giant and warrior rare
other giant you control gains +2/+2 and trample
He has instigated a hundred generations, he has crushed under his foots a hundred armies, and despite this, he has not spoken more than an hundred words, each more venerated than an hundred books
illus: William O'Connor

if the goal of your deck is fatty green beef with haste maybe look upon suspend as this give haste . the time spiral baloth can be devastating coupled with another haste creature as your opponent will not know which one you'll buff and the ivory giant might be the timbermare 5-8 in this deck.
i agree it is less interessant if you draw them later but it might worth a try
First of all, ok I know it is my first post but this card is extracted from the french magazine "Mana rouge" (Red mana) and despite it is another big blue unplayable card it is real (damn)
"Briffaud celeste" (celestian big worm) 3UU
creature: leviathan R
flying
When Briffaud celeste comes into play, target opponent gains control of all permanents you control.
8/8
"Could you give the world for such monster?"
artist rk post card number 96 (?)/165 (the number is really small)
Do not flame me that it is a fake (go buy the magazine to know that it is true) but you can flame me because it is such an unplayable card :wink2:
if another french reader of this magazine could provide a scan, I would be happy, because i do not own one.
if there is a good addition to a death cloud deck in bok i think it will be the nezumi patron. in fact it break the symetry of death cloud by adding another lose life to the sacrifice of land and creature :grin2:

when ~this enter the battleground you may search for a mage creature in your library
If so, this little one may become much more valuable to play, to share this type of goodness with other
