Listen, KupoKupo. I know things have probably been hard for you these past weeks. But everything's going to be okay.
They told the doctor he was insane, that the surgery was impossible, that he was a madman. You never knew that day when you walked into his office that he would be able to fix your minor neck pains for good by reattaching your head to the other side of your spine. But the Lord God guided his hands and miraculously you were reborn into a new form. Some call you an "Abomination," or a "Lovecraftian Horror," or "That freaky ass-head guy." I'm sure every day is suffering, thanks to how your digestive system works. But things get better.
Those of us that value your input and contribution to discourse on this site would like to thank you for continuing to be so brave. It's absurd to me that you can't add someone to your 'Friends' list and ask them to not play overpowered cards like... uh... Gemrazer. How could Wizards of the Coast have overlooked such a simple flaw in their system?
Anyways, please don't use the "R Word" because you really don't have to. If you change your post before the one remaining MTGS mod wakes up in the morning to skim things, maybe he won't infract you or ban you. We can't lose you! I miss KingPun and his posts so much, and he was banned just for being funny! Please slow your roll, KupoKupo.

Witch’s oven is OP?Posted in: Magic General
People passed that **** over as chaff at first.
Stop being net-deckers. Look at every single card in standard and look at how new cards react to it. If you are net-decking people are already side boarding against you and you are already behind the curve. It is acceptable to start with a net decking base but by the time the list gets to you it has already been seen by your would be intelligent opponents and may not be built for your meta (server/LGS).
I’m only seeing one companion out there that should be cause for alarm if you aren’t running removal.
Mutate will only ever be up to decent because removal exists.
Also if you are so worried about that companion, the is the anti-companion/commander card in the same set. Drannith Magistrate.
This isn’t like the days of Urza’s Saga were you went in blind to a draft. We know the cards spoiled before they hit standard.
I know what to expect by analyzing all the cards but know what colors to lean towards by analyzing the commons.
You can’t tell me Gates and mono red burn aren’t viable. Know the meta, save your lunch money and only when you have triple checked your research, then get what you need ( which sounds like you need to get removal).
This is tough love. -

TheOnlyOne652089 posted a message on Wanna kill an hour watching WotC weaseling their way through difficult questions re: Secret Lair FetchlandsThey could print entire TOP 8 decklists as GOLD-bordered decks, as they did back in the days.Posted in: Magic General
That would be by far the cheapest option of cards to get for anybody that doesnt want to downright print their own proxy cards.
To this day i play a lot of gold bordered cards that i only use in Commander decks anyway.
Secret Lair is by far the worst "innovation" they ever had and it undermines not only booster packs, but shifts all the expensive value into a "premium" product as well, which further makes Booster packs worse ... (and take note, booster packs get more expensive with time, but the content gets cheaper). -

user_938036 posted a message on Edh is the worst format in any tcg ever1. What rules are you talking about? Every format has rules. By this point every format should be the worst meaning no format is the worst. If you actually mean the politics and not some "rule" as you stated then this is present in any free for all multiplayer format and several not free for all multiplayer formats.Posted in: Magic General
2. Some people are toxic. EDH usually has the friendliest communities you can foster. Making it so far the best format based on your criteria.
3. What does this even mean? Casual play is casual play. Formats are formats. You can play a format casually or competativly. The format is simply which version of magic you are playing.
Thank you for your 3 reasons why EDH is the best format available and how you are doing your best to keep it the best by staying away from it. -

Mohawkdan sent six unbelievably altered cards that fit into 6 of my EDH decks perfectly! He also posted deck lists from the EDH decks he took them from as well as an explanation about the history of the deck and the altered card. My phone is not letting me post pictures right now so later tonight I will get to my laptop and put the pictures on here. Thank you very much Mohawkdan!Posted in: Community Discussion -

BlazingRagnarok posted a message on Tricking attractive people into playing magicWell, you first need to break that old stereotype about MTG being a game exclusively played by hideous, virginal, antisocial nerds, which is both inaccurate and damaging. If your partner can't look beyond that, chances are they won't be able to reconcile with your hobby. I'd suggesting starting by stopping giving reference to that in your own point of view of the game, even if you use it jokingly.Posted in: Magic General -

I understand a limited amount of low power cards have to make it into a set, but if the set is catered towards power, ie Modern, then eliminate as much of the low end chaff you can and fill it with more playable "powerful" cards. And if you include the chaff, downgrade to uncommon or even common and it makes it more playable in other formats possibly. And don't upgrade certain commons to uncommons because of price, keep them at common. Nobody wants Future Sight Nether Spirit Reap the Past or Genesis at Rare in Modern constructed, nobody. And nobody was clamoring for upgraded to Uncommons Battle Screech Pillage Crypt Rats or the Cycle Lands in Modern constructed either. Draft drove these stupid upgrades and keeps 25 cent rare turds popping up like Dandelions. I don't want power creep through the roof but I don't want predictable draft chaff in Premium sets designed for Constructed either. WotC needs to do better, period. -

hrvl posted a message on Why does WoTC think 20 Rat colony decks are legal in singleton?112.6m. An ability that modifies the rules for deck construction functions before the game begins. Such an ability modifies not just the Comprehensive Rules, but also the Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules and any other documents that set the deck construction rules for a specific format. However, such an ability can't affect the format legality of a card, including whether it's banned or restricted. The current Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules can be found at WPN.Wizards.com/en/resources/rules-documents.Posted in: Magic General
Wizards must see the "one-of" rule as a deck construction rule rather than a matter of card legality. Though the tournament rules don't apply here, they show how Wizards seperates these:
6.1 Deck Construction Restrictions
Constructed decks must contain a minimum of sixty cards. There is no maximum deck size. If a player chooses to
use a sideboard, it may not contain more than fifteen cards.
Except for cards with the basic supertype or cards with text that specifies otherwise, a player’s combined deck and
sideboard may not contain more than four of any individual card, based on its English card title.
6.2 Card Legality
A card may only be used in a particular format if the card is from a set that is legal in that format or has the same
name as a card from a set that is legal in that format. Zendikar Expeditions and Masterpiece Series cards may only
be played in formats where the card is already legal.
Cards banned in a specific format may not be used in decks for that format. Cards restricted in a specific format
may only have one copy in a deck, including sideboard.
Rat Colony is legal in MTGA's Singleton event, so its ability modifies the deck construction rules to allow multiple copies of itself. The MTGA Singleton event has no stated restricted list, so that doesn't come into play.

At no point has playing Magic been about who and what cards can be played, except around a kitchen table where it is a friendly gentleman's agreement about what can be brought. If you're looking for the kitchen table experience, Arena will never be it. I understand not liking playing against certain cards, but the majority are going to bring what wins. If you don't have an answer for those cards, then, yes, you're gonna lose and lose a lot. Arena forces you to be part of the meta, just like any other format.
At this point, after reading several of your threads, I think your expectations are way, way weird. Just accept that online magic isn't going to be your happy table experience where you can dictate what not to play against. I highly doubt wizards is going to change.

As for your situation, I'd have to say that you'd be in your rights to write a nicely worded e-mail letting them know that you did receive a card in a condition different than what you expected. Overall? I don't think it's a huge deal if the card is really in LP condition. And really, how often are you going to find a signed Beta card? I'd feel lucky, honestly.

I agree with everyone who says that if you have to be conned into having a child, don't have one. If you're not ready and do not want one, do not have one. Don't let anyone "convince" you to have one, as it will only lead to issues further down the line.
OP, no one is going to be able to convince you. There's no reason to. Your arguments are all quite valid to yourself, and that's all that matters. Only if you, and only you, can say to yourself, "I think the benefits of this situation outweigh the costs I've outlined," will you ever feel right about having kids. You shouldn't have to feel like you should have one, even if your wife does. I say this from firsthand experience.
Let's keep that honesty thing going. For quite a long time, I did. I made the mistake of conceding to my wife that it was the right time to have a child. I didn't feel quite ready yet and told myself that I would be ready in the interceding 9 months. I was scared of being a father, having helped out exceedingly with my sister who is 12 years younger than myself. I hated the experience. I really quite hated kids as it was and didn't want one.
However, I knew my wife wanted a child. She felt ready and that it was the right time. I knew it would be a thorn in my side, so I acquiesced, hoping my feelings would get better. They never did. I hated all the time my wife was pregnant (a nasty side effect of having kids) and didn't really enjoy the birthing. It was stressful and awful. I felt a little happier with my child in my arms though.
Through some awful economic-based issues, I ended up being a stay-at-home father. I had to raise my son, not my wife like we had discussed. I hated it. I hated him. I couldn't stand him. I took care of him, but more like someone at a daycare would. He was fed, clothed, changed, entertained, but I did it out of duty, not out of love and caring. He was never abused, but I'm sure I could've been a more caring parent.
I completely and utterly regretted my decision to have a kid. I came very close to leaving him and my wife behind. I hated myself for letting her con me into having the child. I didn't want him and now I was taking care of him full time? Regrets. Always regrets.
But he slowly got older and became a little more self-sufficient. I could communicate with him and soon came to enjoy watching him learn and grow. He started spending some time at daycare, giving me the ability to have a break from him. Now, honestly, I'm glad I had him, because I enjoy many of the other feelings the other parents posting in this thread do. But, to be very honest, it took two or three years before I stopped regretting my decision to have him. Now, he's generally a source of pride and joy, but not all the time. And sometimes, during those times he's being a little ****, I still have those times where I wish it was just me and my wife.
TL;DR: I agreed to have a kid when I wasn't ready. I regretted that decision for a long time. I now enjoy my kid, but it just about cost me my relationship with my wife.

@Snow: WE STILL DON'T HAVE ANY!!! GRAAAAAAAAAR! This is my favorite time of year as we usually have around a foot or more of snow (it starts in late October), but it's been warm and clear for the last couple of weeks. I don't want to have a brown Christmas!
@Holiday Exchange: I sent out my cards to Galspanic yesterday. I'll post pictures here when they get received on the other end. Once again, my whole family participated and 13 cards were shipped out. 5 tokens by my 4 year old, 6 from me (including a recent cycle and a promo dressed up in holiday spirit), and 2 from my wife, using her customary favorite creature (a dragon!) and another promo.
@Kahedron: Huzzah! Glad you won.
@Digi: Congrats to you too!
@Stardust: Yay! Awesome sigs! Go you!
@Mafia: Why wasn't I invited? I'm still a member....:crying: Am I not cool enough to play a Crafters Mafia?
