id say 3 color still or 2 If anything...all youre doing is splashing red for a charm.... hate to sound like a knowitall.... but we did that **** a year ago....none of the cards you are accessing are new... we tried boros charm... I mean ffs youre not even running madcap skills anymore...which was honestly more intriguing than boros charm for our build. you guys ever heard "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

nothings broken still top 8'ing still top 1'ing where im @ so I don't know what the sudden excitement over a set that offered us next to nothing is doing to our ideas, but post m14 still a tier 1 deck, post rotation, that's another story... ITS CALLED STANDARD. GET USED TO IT.

no one here runs selesnya charm they all netdeck... which runs simic :p lmao id love someone to back this up now... that you don't have a pro writing an article that proved useless on it this week... which I will link the article and the page that everyone 100 switched to simic cause it top 8d a real tourney when all the people on this thread only fdm...or the thread wouldn't die with some success. I think everyone on here is happy with their 3/4-0 at FNM... congrats

GW on the subforum guys, thanks for everyone sticking in there.

Now that we can categorize our information instead of having one conglomeration of topics, sideboarding should be one of our main focuses

if anyone wants to mini-primer something for this im at work right now, but I will get started over the weekend with some sb testing/data.

obviously it depends on your deck, but im pretty sure we all pretty close.

welcome... just to let you guys know I held it down in Oregon for us... no 1st as I hoped but not too shabby Smile

honestly fencing ace is and will always be prolly our best carry IF HE DOESNT GET REMOVED.

caverns wont really help him that much... its not him being countered were worried about its removal/azorius charm he gets rocked by.

I am a firm believer in sgeist and smiters/voice from here on out... I win the same games without ace I woulda won with him

ground seal > rest in peace in our deck for sure... though I still prefer beckon apparition for gy hate if I sb any at all... depends where I play. I don't see a ton of rites lately..

on the whole fencing ace thing... there are just times when they don't have removal but still have a good hand. then their good hand loses on turn four to 20 dmg from a fencing ace...sometimes you get 2 for 1d the goal is to play around the 2 for1 his upside is still huge

we're talking about spell rupture over negate in the side.... not over simic mb...

I have tested spell rupture to great success... you think every game against midrage or rites is autowin...ITS NOT!!!! (especially games 1/2/3against jund)

and the thing about spell rupture it doesn't just counter creature spells.... it counters TARGET SPELL and against a 6/6 lifelink trample smiter/geist on turn four that card in hand is better than negate hands down...(most of the time scoopable...(sorry bout your resto angel/azo/snap bs)

it is a card that will win us games 2/3 when sided in against the right opponents who don't have any/much instant removal/have to use their removal in requirement not play choice. if its not good against them...guess what DONT SIDE IT IN

imo it solidifies wins...you don't side cards in that don't improve m/u's this one does... and if youre not scared of rites and midrange why side against them with gy hate... when you can beat agro or control (the hard M/U's) by adding another card to the sb

even if not negate is this not better than RIP/Green enchantment that's worse, but cantrips...(honestly too stoned too remember)

so far in my testing the 2 arbor elves are a lot more valuable lately, and have turned me from abundant growth.

I would rather have the charms mb... or a 1/1 body, sometimes the cantrip changes the game though...

its hard to take abundant out I just think its once of our "filler cards" and with the new goodies I think it is the first to lose from the 60

lol.. the deck finally starts doing well. and now none of us are on the same page..

for weeks the deck was mediocre at best and we all thrived on playtesting and finding out what works best...

everyone take 5 days to playtest w/e version youre running and if anyone wants to playtest on mtgo or **** I am game. getting a new comp in two days so im stoked.

    currently im running

    4 avacyn's pilgrim
    4 geist of saint traft
    4 invisible stalker
    4 strangleroot geist
    2 loxodon smiter
    2 arbor elf
    2 silverblade paladin

    4 ethereal armor
    4 rancor
    4 spectral flight
    3 unflinching courage
    2 simic charm

    19 splits 2 forests

im not moving from the dorks or smiters until I see a little more success from VoR

both the list were running smiters... yet all 3 of you here I agree with developing the most don't seem to run them at all...

    why is htat?

well happy to see that ive been moving in the right direction...

my list is the exact same as Josh Huron's -2 VoR -1 smiter +3 strangleroot
ditched the silverblade idea and put 3 smiters back in mb... I like the style.

gotta say unflinching courage is pretty impressive though.

    Quote from Bonerfleximus
Oh my bad, I was assuming you were suggesting it as reanimator hate. I don't see how it's good against Jund though and vs UWR there's better cards.

I think that's true for some decks but not for this one. There are some decks that have very few bad matchups but also are not extremely potent in most matchups either. Examples of this are pretty much all the midrange decks (UWR, Jund, Naya) and Naya blitz. These types of decks would tune their sideboard against the decks the expect to play against first, with diversity in mind.

Then there are other decks that are polarized in their matchups, they're very strong against some of the field weak weak against others with less of a middle ground. This would include decks like Bant Hexproof, Esper control, and Junk Reanimator. These decks would tune their sideboard heavily toward the matchups they're weakest against.

@ above beckon better than purify for us imo

Bant hexproof is already very strong against most midrange decks, so you don't gain much advantage for having sideboard here. It's best to focus on Aggro / Control (arguably our least comfortable matchups).

If you're implying that the field will be diverse after a new set is released, that's historically not true. Usually people start off playing the most proactive decks possible which is typically aggro. In today's standard this could also include reanimator as another proactive option. Reactive decks later start to form based on the most successful proactive strategies.

youre right. honestly i don't see dgm adding anything monumental to any deck except naya, which i don't think will end up running any of the 30 dollar cards mb at the end of the day anyway.

the deck is poised in the meta fine... not to sum boner's words up cause every time he posts he knows what he is saying and takes his time saying it (probably more than i do)
but a new set coming out has nothing to do with the current standard evolving... that really isn't even up to wizards....more to the players...there have been lots of cards designed to impact the game priced @30$WTF a card before they are even played... printed does not mean played... just like testing does not prepare you for every situation known..

we got good adds. lets stick with what we know... we know we beat junk/most midrange. we got a good card to work against aggro... lets find the best 60 and do this thing for about the next 6 months Smile
