Long time player here, though I started designing cards about 1.5yrs ago. Been frustrated at WOTC's lack of completion of cycles, and also to complement my Cube.
I'm sure there're a few who cube find that some archetypes cannot be supported, i.e. artifact/affinity. This is one of the reasons why I custom make cards. Thankful that I've a playgroup who playtest my cards, but it's also because we love magic in general.
I have so far made hundreds of cards, enough to fill 1.5 fatpack boxes. Take note that these custom cards are of Cube power level, but not of the power 9 level.
I find that it's easy to make the coolest of rares or mythics, but it's a greater challenge to make customs that are of common or uncommon level.

Like I mentioned earlier, my cube supports affinity. However, we need something more versatile. Here's the result:

I understand that mono black can be difficult to draft in cube. The answer is to get 'glue" cards, and make them built around it.

Put four 1/1 black Wolf token creatures with deathtouch onto the battlefield.
Everyone loves lands. I felt that WOTC takes too long to give us the wedge lands. Here's the end product:

Legendary Land - Plains Mountain Island {MR}
T: Add R to your mana pool.
T: Add W or U to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to cast a multicolor spell.
I supposed all these cards would look better with images but I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post them. Anyways, I'll share more in the coming days. Thanks for any feedback
