So I really like the Emerge Mechanic. I came up with this real quick the other day, but I think it could use improvements in both flavor and efficacy. What do you guys think?
I'm sorry but then the title of this thread is wrong...
Like this it means Eldrazi eliminates Paper, and gets beaten by Rock... It does not introduce the topic of "Ula<Koz<Em as rock<paper<scissors"...
Still I'm for Koz<Ula<Em. The Time Warp (Let's do the time warp again!!!) power of Kozi would, I think, avoid it being controlled by Em, phasing her "somewhen" else. Pardon, maybe Space-Time warping power... And then even somewhere else.
YOU WANNA GO M8? I'll wrek you m8, I swear on me mum!
In all seriousness though, I wasn't sure how to name the topic to get the idea across. Being pedantic won't change the fact there's a character limit.
I have a hard time telling what they'd do to each other. Best guess is Ulamog "wins" by eating mana, as opposed to corrupting things or warping the world.
Makes me think more of the fourth guy more than anything, just not working quite the same.
It's really hard to think how they'd affect each other, as they seem to only affect the worlds they're manifesting on. Kozilek can warp reality, sure, but the three Titans aren't actually in the planar reality, more like casting shadows on it. Big, dangerous shadows.
It could be an interesting plot, in the future, if they decide to revisit the whole Eldrazi thing.
If the legends of Cosi and Ula that we heard from Kiora are anything to go by Ulamog would get outsmarted by Kozilek.
Yeah, I always got the impression Ulamog was a bit of a dumb brute. Like, the guy may have the ability to consume all the things but he also has that as his only desire. I almost get the feeling that the Eldrazi would never get into an all out fight because Ulamog gives no ****s, he just wants to eat and whatever gets in his way is just going to get ***** slapped out of it and summarily ignored.
So I feel like Kozelik could definately outsmart him. On the other hand, it seems like Emrakul relies a lot more on mana then the others (Remember Kozelik's Translator? "From nothing, sustenance"?) and she needs things to be there to make them, so she'd probably have difficulty with him, even if he is an idiot.
A while back I realized that my red deck, Fire Fury, would work better if it was purely for single player, and that I should make another deck for Multiplayer.
So here's what I came up with, but I'd like some serious advice.
The idea is that the base deck is for a free for all, and the Sideboard has cards that can be shuffled in for a team match.
Wha'cha guys think?
So, allow me a brief diversion before I begin this topic.
So, those of you who've played Eternal Darkness are familiar with the Three Elder Gods in the game. (Technically there's four but we don't talk about Mantorak)
In the game, these gods have a special rock-paper-scissors relationship with each other. Zel'toth, Goddess of Madness, is able to warp the mind of Ulyath, the God of Magic to prevent him from casting spells. Ulyath is able to outsmart the brute force of Chut'tturga, and Chut'tturga is really only made stronger by Zel'toth's craziness.
And I began to think, what if the Eldrazi had a relationship like this? The Eldrazi seem to at least be more then willing to work with one another - or at the very least, not get in each other's way - but what if they fought? Would they have advantages over one another? If they had this sort of rock-paper-scissors relationship with one another, how would it work?
I'm curious to hear your thoughts, and then I'll share mine.
Not sure where this should go, so I'll just stick it here and if the mods are unhappy they can correct me.
So, what do you guys think of the possibility of a new Wastes card, now that we have Emrakul ravaging the landscape? I'm a real big fan of how both Kozelik and Ulamog got their own unique cards for their destruction, and given how Emrakul seems to be operating, I am left to wonder what a wasteland created by her would look like.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, am I the only one who's foaming at the mouth at this idea? Or are there other people with an equal appetite for such a card?
So I wanted to make a deck all about the horrors of Emrakul, specifically the glory that is Brisela.
And the problem is there's just so many fun options...
I decided to split the original deck posted here in to two. One that's based on emerge, and one that's based on whatever madness I can draw out with the transform mechanic, turning things into Eldrazi nightmares.
This deck looks good, but I have a few suggestions.
I would be remiss if I didn't recommend Beacon of Destiny. You can take something like a Banefire, redirect it, and then use your Battlefield Medics to keep the Beacon alight.
So, way way way back in the days of the first Mirrodin, I bought one of the pre-constructed decks called "Sacrificial Bam." The concept behind the Pre-Fab was "Build your machines, kill them, then bring them back from the dead to KILL MOAR."
Ever since then, I've enjoyed this deck and did what I could to make it AWESOME. The concept of machines, constantly murdering one another to regrow more machines to grind down to kill you is kind of amazing.
But as you can tell, it's outdated. It need improvement. Especially since Scars of Mirrodin happened and I feel like some of the cards form it could help here, but I can't find them.
As a Red/Black lady, I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you to try and work a Terminate in there if you can, but I don't think there's any Rakdos flavored one.
But god damn I love this.
So I originally wrote this huge reply about all of the things you guys said and why I either am or am not accepting them, but I've lost it twice now and I'm getting sick and tired of remaking it.
Suffice it to say, I'll be taking Znaccekiveli's advice and focusing on 1V1 with the deck, though I'm keeping the sideboard with a few multiplayer tricks just in case I get forced into one.
So, a while back I implored MTG Salvation to help me build an all female deck. I have, after a long time realized two things.
The first of which is that my deck is a meandering confused mess. The second of which is that it would be better as a Commander Deck.
However, I still want a 60-card R/B Deck of ladies. Hence, the creation of this deck.
I decided to tweak it a bit. Vampires are the theme here.
The story, in brief, is this:
Long ago, witches were hunted and killed, burned at the stake for their powers. A group of them fled to the dark mountains with their children and made a city there that they defended against intruders. It didn't take long until the witches found the mountain was already inhabitated by vampires. The two groups made an accord - the witches would feed the vampires, and the vampires would protect the witches. And their they have lived at the top of the mountain, vehemently rejecting all intruders to protect the things they love.
The witches specialize in fire magic, while the vampires specialize in blood magic. While there are men in the city, they are considered more useful building the infrastructure of the city and maintaining it. The women can defend it.
That said, there are some rules.
DA RULZ:
All creatures cards must depict female characters. There can be men in the picture, but it should be clear that the character the card is referring to is female.
Exceptions will be made for genderless creatures that could be summoned by the witches and for characters clothed in garb that disguises their gender.
All instants, sorceries, lands, artifacts and enchantments that depict no people are fine. Ones that do depict people can depict anyone as the target of the spell, but if they're depicting someone casting it, it must be a female (or, again, a suitably androgynous figure).
No three-ofs please. Three's an unlucky number for me, and I won't have my Favorite Deck have to deal with that.
