hey guys i just started cockatrice & its not bad, a few jerks here & there but overall i have been getting in more EDH time since i am not going to the LGS for now. whats your experience with cockatrice?
EDIT: i stopped waiting for D3 when i learned it requires internet just to play, i like single player since a lot of jerks made D2 really unfun online
hi folks, an interesting situation came up last night, i had Karn, Silver Golem & an artifact in play. using Karn's ability i animate the artifact, after its a creature i cast phyrexian metamorph targeting the animated artifact.
does the metamorph enter play as an exact copy (i.e. an artifact creature w/ P/T & abilities), or does it revert to a normal artifact (non-creature) at the end of the turn?
DO NOT use rubbing alchohol on your cards, as it removes the protective coating of the card. as for the smell the cards likely need to sit out in open air, if the smell persists as you say for years, then double sleeving your cards should do the trick.
hi folks, i have been thinking of interactions with Olivia & Karn is one of my favorite creatures. & i am almost certain that there will be ruling disputes regarding this in the future so i am asking beforehand.
ok, so i have both Olivia & Karn in play, i turn an opponents artifact into a creature (for example, lightning greaves, so it automatically detaches from any equipped creatures when it becomes a creature), ping it with Olivia, then activate her control ability to gain control of the artifact creature/ vampire.
so long as i control Olivia i retain control of the artifacts, regardless of the fact that they are no longer creatures, is this correct? does this also apply to any permanent that you have managed to steal via Olivia so long as she is in play under your control?
locally i see a lot of players fold to blood moon & their ilk, most of the time players are not prepared to answer the card & get locked out (mainly because almost everyone around here plays 3-color decks). i dont usually fold unless its impossible to proceed, but i have found that when blood moon is played, either it needs an immediate answer or its going to stall the game. while i agree that you should be prepared for such situations, in my experience playing no one has been able to draw up an answer in time (we will start looking at the top deck, just to see if an answer is coming, most of these games end because no one has a colorless answer on the way...).
on the flipside i agree that most players are too comfortable with their mana bases being generally untouched. i think blood moon borders on "unfair" (but still allows you to use your basics to recover), while contamination is absolutely a griefer card.
i was introduced to EDH by a really cutthroat player, who ran an arcum infinite combo deck... just to stay on par with him i made a Zur deck, only to find once i found the local EDH community that this guy was a real jerk for playing EDH in such a way.
after i met the group i made a drana tribal deck which was pretty fun.
i find it interesting that no one thus far has mentioned reanimation effects, which i would say are the most frequent use of other peoples creatures. whenever i see a consphinx or ptitan being stolen, 7+ times out of 10 its via a reanimation effect (locally).
along with uncle itsvan, i wouldn't mind seeing ali from cairo, sindbad, & abu ja'far as legends. i agree with the concept & wouldn't mind having some more generals to choose from.
i run a welder in my Godo & Zedruu decks for different reasons. Godo because he acts as a form of recursion for red, & in Zedruu the welder is used more for disruption & mischief.
i do find the welder is the target of hate more often than not when i play him, but i dont see him played that often.
EDIT: most of the games i played were right in the mid-range, not cutthroat but not casual either

depending on your build, enduring renewal can totally catch people off guard.
cauldron of souls would be my favorite method of retaining your creatures.

thank you guys for the feedback, this is exactly what i was arguing & he just wouldn't budge, claiming he was a DCI judge & all...
