I quit during Onslaught block and resumed playing in Zendikar, but have a very keen interest in knowing about Mirrodin + the adventures of Glissa and friends. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
The thickness eventually normalized after a few days of playing with the cards.
It just became a habit after that.
The new M13 card Murder can be useful too. Probably to replace the 2 Dismember, because paying phyrexian mana with life can make the damage race difficult, espescially if your opponent has burn spells.
Is that directed at my post? The dredge player I played against wasn't really dressed like a freak, just dressed in casual black shirt with 3 or 4 chain necklace around his neck. Must be some sort of street fashion from where he lived. And what I meant as "a little funny" is how another player reacted that day after playing against Dredge.
Turn 3 to 4 indeed. My first Legacy tournament several months ago, is the first time I encountered a Dredge deck. Opponent is dressed in black and had long chain necklace. Wondered why opponent chose to go 2nd and discarded something? Then a few turns later, there's this boros creature which gave +1/+1 and haste. Lost because my creatures can't hold back all the zombies and revived Ichorid (4/2 because of the boros creature). Game 2 my creatures put up more aggression and I get opponent to 5 life, but it still ended the same.. death by overwhelming number of undead. A little funny during snack time much later that day. I came across two people talking. One of them asked "What did your last opponent play?" The one asked replied one word "Ichorid" referring to the Dredge player I had a match with earlier.
After that day I learned to always bring at least 4 grave removal to tournaments.
Yes, a lot better. If there are many black decks with black creatures in your playgroup, Doomblade can be replaced with Smother or Go for the Throat.
While this deck is intended to be powered down because it will be played mostly against precons and budget casual decks, being a little more in theme doesn't hurt. The transfusions can replace the Spectral Flights.
Ok, with the latest suggestions..
-2 Vexing Sphinx +2 Rimewind Taskmage
-3 Spectral Flight +3 Rime Transfusion
Manabase adjusted as well.
-2 Snow Covered Island + 2 Snow Covered Swamp
-1 Ponder +1 Scrying Sheets
4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
4 Blizzard Specter
4 Frost Raptor
1 Rimefeather Owl
1 Balduvian Frostwalker
2 Rimewind Taskmage
3 Ponder
4 Ice Cage
4 Frozen Solid
3 Chill to the Bone
3 Rime Transfusion
8 Snow Covered Swamp
4 Frost Marsh
3 Scrying Sheets
4 Blue Elemental Blast
4 Ratchet Bomb
4 Deathmark
3 Gorgon's Flail
But I can't use it because it's not in the deck's color.. thanks anyway.
Personally, I would cut 5 or 6 removal for some Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek.
The Taskmage seems like it could replace the 2 Vexing Sphinx. Also gives the deck a 2 mana creature, at best he taps down large creatures and at worst he's another early blocker. Thanks for the suggestion, will test.
Mouth of Ronom's ability is decent, but I can't add it anymore because too many lands that produce only colorless mana result in me getting mana screwed. It's ronom or scrying sheets. Have to choose the sheets because the potential card draw is more helpful than 4 damage to a creature. The deck has plenty of other creature removal anyway.
The champion is still better in my opinion. Depending on your meta, he can be either 3 or 4. I prefer using 3, so it's easy to replace all of him with sideboard cards in matches where he won't do much (like combo decks). If your meta has a lot of aggro, he's strong.
Factory is no doubt a good card. But the blinkmoth has flying. A factory with a plating will trade with a large creature (such as goyf), but a Blinkmoth can fly over blockers and do damage to the opponent. Blinkmoth can also block Delver.
I don't play Standard, so I don't need that many cards.
Just going to buy 12 Tormod's Crypt (will give 3 to a friend and the rest will be distributed to the sideboards of my Legacy decks :)). And a playset of Rancor, Sublime Archangel, Master of the Pearl Trident, Smelt, Serra Avenger and Hellion Crucible for adding to my binder.
Thanks for the help.
