Everyone is just screaming "THEY'RE BANNING SotF TOMORROW!!!!" at the top of their lungs because it's the card everyone is speculating about.
I hope Survival does not get banned. I guess I am one of those people not afraid of the "big dumb green deck." Worlds didn't have a problem with it, so I'm not concerned if this is only causing a problem for SCG Opens (have you ever seen top 8 replays from SCG Opens? They aren't exactly high level tournaments).
So, lets say I have a Survival of the Fittest and I am being enchanted by my opponent's Wheel of Sun and Moon. I activate Survival and discard Basking Rootwalla. Can I play it for its Madness cost, or is it now at the bottom of my library?
The Fortress event fired and went well. Some of the people even had enough time to go to Evo after, and they already had 8 people before the Fort people left, so I'm sure they are getting enough to have a tournament.
After looking through the spoilers, I thought SOM would be an amazing set and preordered 3 boxes.
After playing in the pre-release, I think I just preordered half a case of Betrayers of Kamigawa.
Yeah, sure, there is an Umezawa's Jitte somewhere in those boxes, but the rest of it is terrible. Just. Terrible.
Also, the limited environment is awful. I played against Engulfing Slagwurm. Is there an out to this card that doesn't involve going ultimate with Elspeth? I held it off for a few turns with Tumble Magnet, but eventually it just ate me.
This set is so bomb centered, its like an old school core set.
Phew, those are some rose tinted glasses you have on there, calling Ravnica era standard affordable. Remember the manabases back then, at $20 a pop for lands? And thems 2005 dollars! Not to mention most decks had to fit in x4 Umezawa's Jitte while it was standard legal, and that card is still $20 even after rotating out of extended.
Still, it was pretty fun! Solar Pox, Angelfire, Zoo and Dragonstorm, among others, all living together. It was a good time.
If you check US Nationals results, you'll see UWx Control lists have opted to go with Baneslayer Angel over her competitors, Sun Titan and Gideon Jura. That has buffeted her downward trend, and her price has stabilized at $25-$30.
Primeval Titan also had a strong showing, getting into the top 8 in two different lists (Ramp and Destructive Force). His price is around $40-$50.
You guys are thinking too hard. Precons with sideboards, a die, and a "strategy guide." Tada! I'm not expecting some serious tech here (or something to begrudge as lame netdecker fest, or whatever).
Might not be terrible for impulse "I think I'll try my first FNM" types.
I have no idea if Marsh took his grinder deck to the GP, but he finished 203rd, a little below the cut for Day 2, but above Luis Scott-Vargas (270th) and Brian Kibler (271st). The deck looks awesome (but check out the Scryb Ranger in the sb... It works with Mangara and saves lands from wasteland... the extra paths help vs aggressive decks... I dunno, doesn't seem terrible).
People still don't understand why Mystical Tutor remains banned, and sure, unban Time Spiral, but nothing else. Sounds fine... er, what?
So confused.

"Equip" is an activated ability, not a spell, so Redirect does not interact with it.

As you can see, it is not an even trade.
