  • posted a message on Why do people still play AVR?
OK completely different point of view here. I like AVR limited. I like being able to play a creature that doesn't immediately eat a removal spell. Being good at combat math makes you good at AVR limited as you are basically crashing creatures against each other. Making optimal combat decisions is the key. I have played it A LOT (enough to open 3 bonfires) and I really enjoy it.

Essentially, it is less about the deck you draft and more about how tightly you play IMO. There is, of course, the occassional bomb or miracle that blows you out, but that is a two way street and thus fair for both sides.

That is a pretty bad explanation. Double the english counterpart? No. Many Japanese and Russian foils are many times the value of their english counterpart. I bet the Signet in particular will surprise you. I can not claim knowledge of any of these exact prices, I just don't want to see you sell them for double the english foil value without some sort of confirmation that this would be the correct price.

In this case you have highly liquid highly playable standard stuff in pile B for very fringe eternal stuff in A. This is one of the only times where I would take the standard stuff.

Trade A I like restoration angels. They are going to be a defining card in standard for two years.

Trade B I like temporal mastery side. Wurm and Elesh Norn are dropping fast upon rotation. Temporal could go up if it finds a home.

$50 is way way too low IMO. It is worth whatever someone will pay. I have never seen one personally but I bet it is closer to $250-$300.

I can't believe how many people posted before mentioning Thragtusk.

Actually Lightning Mauler with Hero of Bladehold or Silverblade Paladin is the reason to play RW instead of the other color combinations. I couldn't disagree more with the advice given here.

    Fiend Hunter is also spectacular.

I do NOT see this angel as a $10 mythic. Restoration Angel is going to be a better 4-drop in just about every deck with the way WotC has pushed EtB effects. If I have enough creatures that multiple exalted triggers is helpful, wouldn't I rather attack with all of them most of the time?

I think this is basically going to see zero constructed play in any format.

50-60% of NM in my opinion.

One more option for you: Turn the whole place into a rental unit and rent both apartments. Then find yourself a better place that suits your needs perfectly.

I find it odd that one would advocated dropping Champion but keeping Doomed Traveler. I personally don't even play Doomed. I prefer Elite Vanguard. Elite (with Champion) gives me two cards to play on turn one that put the opponent on a clock.

The new Cascade bear also works very well with Vengevines/Mana Dorks/Intuitions. I could certainly see Intuition for three Vengevines on turn two and cascading out two creatures on turn three being a nice start.

These last couple of lists just seem pretty bad. No Champion of the Parish takes away your best chance for an explosive start, and no Hero of Bladehold takes away your best chance for an explosive ending. I do not understand the logic.
