I would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me a little bit.

Opponent casts Bloodhulk Ritualist kicked 5 times.

I respond to it coming into play with a lightning bolt.

Does my bolt preempt the discards, or do I still have to discard 5 cards?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I do not want to offend here, but this deck just seems like an inferior version of RDW with higher casting costs and a splash for BBE. It seems like it would be extremely difficult to get the 2 Green mana to reliably cast Vengevine on turn 4. I would recommend, if you want to make this as competitive as possible, switch to either RDW or Vengevine Naya. If you want to keep the current build, I think it would benefit you greatly to go -4 Vengevine, +4 Plated Geopede, -4 Colossal Might, +4 Staggershock.

I have been using Wall of Denial here and it is good for a couple of reasons. It really shuts down opposing heavy hitters like Baneslayer and Jar Jar. It is also a good card to sideboard out for negates if you are playing against a creatureless deck.

I see a lot of great Grixis lists here, and I have read a bunch of the thread, but not the entire 170 pages. Why isn't anyone using Pyroclasm to kill multiple manadorks and other early game creatures cast by quicker decks? they have been great for me in MWS testing as a 3-of alongside 4 EQ.

I tried something similar when I first opened RoE packs. I saw the Hand and thought... wow, easy to get out on turn three or four. Honestly, the spawn tokens are too valueable to sacrifice for him! You end up 4 for 1'ing yourself when he gets path'd. It seems more effective to just load up on spawns and then Garruk Ultimate or Overrun or even Broodwarden FTW. Just my .02

Kiln Fiend goes perfectly with your entire strategy, especially distortion strike.
