  • posted a message on MTG card prices; StarCityGames vs other websites
Starcity gives out thousands and thousands of dollars every month in store credit to players in their events as well as judging staff and for trade ins. There are only a handful of people shelling out $250 cash for an underground sea in actual nm condition with great service (although these people do exist. For example, I met someone who had been burned by several other stores who will only get cards from starcity because they are very reliable.)

Store credit on the other hand is alot easier for people to part with. Win a standard open and want to get into legacy? Use your winnings for legacy staples and it still feels like valu-town regardless of the price.

Loam strategies have always been a thing in legacy, an unpopular thing. Only a certain type of player likes to play these stupid grindy decks, even though they are capable of winning. This deck really isn't bringing anything new to the table and I'm pretty sure it will fall by the wayside when people start playing more grave hate (which is due) and/or more fast combo. I don't think there are going to be many people investing in all the expensive crappy cards in the deck and DD will probably settle under $30 when everyone realizes it's not going to be a popular choice.

Fist of Suns looks pretty dried up on ebay.

Through the Breach looks like its moving as well.

I saw someone streaming a deck with both of those cards in it is as well as Goryo's Vengeance the other day, I guess some speculators were paying attention.

I'm not sure how good fist is, but being able to cast eldrazi's definitely has upside. I think that might make me like it better than egg? Breach definitely seems awesome I'm going to try to get myself a playset or two if I can before it hits $10.

@Uldan foil arena basics seem like a good buy right now if you can find deals. Foil old frame basics are very cool and seem under the radar.

Anyone know where I might find some non foil russian cards? I'm searching for an infernal tutor, a mystic gate, and a couple entreat the angels. Btw, I started building miracles after years of exclusively playing storm variants.. lets see where this goes...

I cracked 4 cases of theros for someone else. The only packs I actually want to crack are for Kaijudo drafts.

I'm in NY now to see family and friends and of course, Giants baseball. I went to Citi Field for the first time last night, it's a great ball park and I recommend going if you have the chance. Tomorrow I go to see the Giants take on the Yankees and I get to check yet another stadium off my list. I'm super happy to be visiting but it's also pretty emotional for me. I went to school in NY and moved back to LA about five years ago to deal with some health related issues. In LA I degenerated in my lifestyle and never really got anything going on for myself until recently. Coming back I realize I have tons of friends here who all have fun and succesful lifes and I feel like I never left. It really feels like I fit here. On the other hand in LA I just started a job acouple months ago that I like even though it will probably never make me much money. I dont know what to do with myself

I haven't been around lately. Been working a ton but mostly I've been balls deep in kaijudo... went off the deep end with that one in a fairly degenerate manner lol.

was anyone at gp oakland? it was ****in crazy.

any yall play kaijudo? i've been thinkin about goin deep, the local shops going to start supporting it, and theres a couple qualifiers in cali for the championship this winter... figure i have a good shot of making it if i get good. i dont think the formats really fully understood so theres room for new players to get in.. seems pretty cool, helps that i ripped a couple packs and got like $100 of cards. the cards are cool i think im going to open a buy list on here for cards. can i open a thread for buying just kaijudo cards in the sales lot or is that against the rules?

Will redemptions effext the supply enough to bring down the price?

How am I the first to give you the most obvious advice? Buy cards on the reserve list.

Sealed product is also fairly safe since players will still want to draft it after its out of print, or for novelty. Modern Masters was really popular for drafting and even the most savvy players couldn't resist cracking. I imagine sealed MM has nowhere to go but up.

I love melee, I never knew it was a truly competitive game until recently. Back in my college days I crushed most in my dorm with young link. I love the responsiveness and finesse of the controls.

Too bad the idiots running Nintendo have absolutely no clue. I reluctantly bought wii because I still wanted to believe.. but the magic died a few years ago for me Frown I sometimes say I'm over it but deep down my hearts still broken.
