I run Slinger and Waif at 500 and I'm reasonably happy with both. Neither is uncuttable. I prefer them both to some other cards you are running, namely Fireball, Red Sun's Zenith, and Hellkite Charger.
The rest looks good.
Cheers,

I think you're off to a fantastic start. Keep on practicing and improvement is guaranteed. The wargear looks great, I like it better than the one I did (not sure how big of a compliment THAT is though :p). You did a great job with the yellow-orangish smoky color, in my experience yellow is the hardest color to get right because it's so hard to mix the correct shade you need. I like the purple on the ingot but the yellow-orange light in the top left looks a bit rough still. I'd try and make the beam itself lighter (notice how in the original art it's very light yellow) and try and make a smoother transition to the purple background - maybe use some lighter violet. The fade to black is very well done.Quote from JujuAlso, I've started altering some cards in my spare time recently. Bear in mind I started with absolutely no painting experience here, so I know it's going to be a long road to getting good (particularly with details etc.)
Keep it up! -

Phantizle posted a message on [Offtopic] Community ThreadPosted in: The Cube ForumQuote from JujuI figured I'd update with my 3rd and 4th alters (respectively, left to right). I'll keep them to my thread and/or the altered art thread from now on.
I found a set of 10 Golden Liquid acrylics online for about half the price I would pay at the art store near me. They should hopefully let me get a thinner coat than the crappy ones I'm using now.
Dude, you made me some alters without me even asking or knowing you at all? That's really kind of you! I'll pm my address.
(They look great, btw) -

Usman posted a message on [Offtopic] Community ThreadI think they're quite good and considering that you haven't painted much, that's pretty impressive. (for both these and the other 2)Posted in: The Cube Forum -

Humpty_Dumpty posted a message on [Offtopic] Community Thread@Juju: the colour matching looks good, and that is often the harder part. What paints are you using? You might get smoother results with thinner layers of paint, and beyond that it is largely a case of practice to get a feel for how the paint flows.Posted in: The Cube Forum -

Fredo posted a message on [500][Unpowered] Juju's CubeGuardian Idol has been decent here to fill out the mana rock section. Otherwise, I'd prefer including some signets/talismen before something like Prismatic Lens, which I honestly don't like much. We run Idol, Izzet Signet, Talisman of Dominance and Talisman of Progress on top of the ones you're currently running, and that's at 450Posted in: Cube Lists -

Also lol at the terrible timing of my prediction of Dragon's Maze with the information about the PR going up the same day.

Humpty_Dumpty posted a message on The Cube Forum 2012 Secret Santa ThreadHi everyone.Posted in: The Cube Forum
There have been a few posts in the community thread about whether the Secret Santa will be happening this year. MagnetMan did a great job last time, not only coming up with the idea but also organising it. Unfortunately he is busy with studies and exams, so I have offered to coordinate this year.
Below are MagnetMan's original FAQs from last time, I have added a few comments in blue.
Quote from MagnetMan
"?">Secret Santa is a Western Christmas tradition in which members of a group or community are randomly assigned a person to whom they anonymously give a gift. It offers a way for many people to give and receive a gift at low cost, since the alternative gift tradition is for each person to buy gifts for every other person. In this way, the Secret Santa tradition also encourages gift exchange groups whose members are not close enough to participate in the alternative tradition of giving presents to everyone else.
Like the definition said, it's a way to give/receive gifts from people you wouldn't normally have that kind of interaction with. It's always fun to get things in the mail that aren't bills or junk.
It's also a lot of fun to send something that isn't a bill payment or similar.
Don't worry, you're just picking out a gift for a fellow forum member, not a fiance. From similar events, I've found that something in the $10-$15 range is average. Factor in shipping and you can easily make someone's day for under $20.
There is a real mix of people on this thread, from impoverished students to relatively well paid professionals. Other people may have artistic talents, and a few alters were sent last year. Participants should understand that this is quite different from a trade, and give what they can afford.
Once I've got a list of everyone who wants to sign up, I'll shuffle up the names and randomly "hand them out" to another person.
Luckily, we all share one very common interest =P To make things a bit easier, I'm gonna ask that everyone participating send me a "wishlist" of any length along with the rest of their info. This way, no one should draw a complete blank when coming up with ideas.
Of course not! Be creative! That's what makes this fun. The wishlist idea is just something I thought of to make things a bit easier.
Remember that the bigger the wishlist, the easier you make things for your Santa.
First thing's first, post in this thread, then send me a PM. In your PM, please include:
-Name
-Address
-A wishlist of any number of Magic related items you may like
I'll keep an updated list of everyone participating at the bottom of this post. I'll wait about a week or so before I close off entry and start handing out names.
As soon as possible! Since we all live in a wide variety of cities, states, countries and even continents, the actual date we all receive our gifts is going to vary. Don't rush out and grab the first thing you see, but do your best so that your recipient gets their gift before the end of January.
We may be able to get some of the gifts in time for Christmas this year!
One cool thing I've seen done is a gift reveal thread after the exchange. So once you get your gift, take a picture with/of it! Once the presents start rolling in, I'll start up another thread so we can show off our shiny presents and thank our fellow cubists =D
Like last year, we can probably just keep this thread going to show off the shiny presents.
I'll give it a week or so, and update this post with the participants. Please PM me with details as above.

1. With the removal of damage from the stack, you can no longer have your cake and eat it with cards like Sakura Tribe Elder. You now have to choose between dealing the damage or geting the land when you block with it. This is a change that has made combat decisions harder to make and more complex.
But...
2. Looking at it from the other perspective, with the new rules, you can usually attack your opponents without much worry. No longer can you fear them boomeranging their guy in response, or saccing their dude and killing both of your guys. Taking away damage from the stack has only made it easier to "atack with your mans" as it were. The decisions of whether to attack have become easier and less complex now.

I just got a judge foil Survival of the Fittest. I'll post a pic when I get home. Next up on my list: Bitterblossom, Vendilion Clique, Vindicate, Karmic Guide

1. He is hard to cast in any deck that isn't heavy red.
2. Most heavily red decks didn't have a huge amount of use for him, as they were typically all about doing the most damage in the shortest amount of time, hence Keldon Champion, Blistering Firecat and Hero of Oxid Ridge being the better card in most of those decks.
If you think people are willing to play these in more midrangy or contolling R/x decks with plenty of ETB guys then absolutely go for it. I'd be willing to give him another try too.

That's not the point exactly. It should optimally be played like a black Armageddon. If you can establish a clear board advantage, dropping a Nether Void "seals the deal" as it were. Imagine playing 1-drop 2-drop, 3-drop into Nether Void against a control deck before they can stabilize and bring out their big guns (or wrath as it may be).
