They will probably always have equips in every set or block and there is no way they will ever run out of ideas for the keyword. #2 Banding should have been #1. I mean come on man.Posted in: Improbable Things

Some say its a bad topdeck. I cant see that when I would only play it against fae. It looks alright at any point against that deck.
4 Volcanic Fallout
4 Firespout
1 Scapeshift
2 Realms Uncharted
4 Fulminator Mage
4 Great Sable Stag
1 Masked Admirers
1 Spellbreaker Behemoth
1 Wolfbriar Elemental
1 Thornling
4 Demigod of Revenge
4 Cloudthresher
2 Cream of the Crop
1 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle
4 Rootbound Crag
3 Raging Ravine
8 Mountain
6 Forest
3 Spellbreaker Behemoth
3 Vexing Shusher
Just basically throwing out an idea and seeing what comes of it.
4 Suffer the Past
3 Doom blade
4 Sign in Blood
2 Profane Command
4 Tendrils of Corruption
3 Mind Sludge
4 Bitterblossom
4 Everflowing Chalice
2 Liliana Vess
4 Leechridden Swamp
16 Swamp
2 Tectonic Edge
3 Hideous End
4 Tombstalker
4 Deathmark
4 Consuming Vapors
After playing a few rounds, I have to agree with you. It would appear that going back to the tutors would be a good idea as well as maybe Repel the Darkness. Repel is a bit weak when your looking for something, however it is so good when your facing a few guys. I'm thinking that maybe Repel in the SB and doing something else altogether in the main.
Cards likeFood Chain, Kill Switch, Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero, Squee, Goblin Nabob, and Tangle Wire would also degenerate the format.
Also as far as being fun Daze, counterspell, although it's in 7. :-/, are just not. Skill based cards, yes, fun? Not even close.
At the same time I really want this format to exist, so if I would have to take the good with the bad, and I can accept that.
They are an absolute must imo. However it appers that some has decided that it's not really that important to run Baneslayer.
15 Plains
2 Mistveil Plains
3 Arid Mesa
3 Wall of Omens
4 Kitchen Finks
2 Transcendent Master
4 World Queller
4 Baneslayer Angel
4 Path to Exile
4 Oblivion Ring
4 Day of Judgment
2 Lightmine Field
2 Martial Coup
I've noticed that since Wall of Omens stalls and cantrips that we have more time to look for spells so I dropped Tutor in place of a big finisher. Coup is also ok for just throwing out a few more blockers or getting a few more guys to push thru damage.
Control will need both Baneslayer and Gideon. However you can play WW without them. If that is the deciding factor then I would strongly suggest going with Weenie.
From this end, I have no desire to do that. Casting Ulamog and waiting next turn to attack isn't really too great imo. I would rather spend 5 mana and those 6 creatures needed to make that extra 6 mana could be used to steal all of their lands. If I'm playing elves then I'm going to try and make it druid elf.
something like this
EDIT: Ok I just had a wow moment. If it's already been discussed in another thread then forgive me for bring it back up. Coat of Arms with Devoted Druid and Gilt-Leaf Archdruid is basically draw your deck and take all lands in play. We could go that route? You won't really need all in play when you go off. Just active Devoted in play then cast Coat, if you have a few guys in play then you should be able to bring down Archdruid also then proceded to go off casting all your elves and making extra mana because you would eventually draw into a Heritage Druid. After that you can draw your deck and finish with whatever you choose.
Maybe take out the Regal Forces for Coat of Arms?
I never noticed the interaction of Lightmine Field and Gideon Jura before.
One thing we are expecting to see however is fae in mass. So I would suggest changes. PtE should probably move to the MD. Oust is ok, but I don't really want to see most fae creatures enter play even once much less twice. Plus it's sorcery speed so you can't hit a 4/4 flier with it either.
The Endless Horizon is probably not needed either unless you put in a few Mistveil Plains. And maybe some fetches. That'll keep your removal and enchantments returning to play for repeatable offences.
I'm not a huge fan of Twilight Shepherd either. I don't want a creature that makes DoJing better. I want a creature that makes it so I don't have to DoJ. Baneslayer Angel comes to mind.
Devout Lightcaster Looks like it also has promise to battle some fae as well as Doran, the Siege Tower and others.
Maybe something like this:
4 Emeria, the Sky Ruin
15 Plains
2 Mistveil Plains
3 Marsh Flats
Creatures
4 World Queller
4 Kitchen Finks
2 Transcendent Master
4 Baneslayer Angel
4 Day of Judgment
4 Path to Exile
4 Idyllic Tutor
4 Oblivion Ring
2 Runed Halo
1 Lightmine Field
1 Luminarch Ascension
Planeswalker
3 Gideon Jura
1 Greater Auramancy
4 Stillmoon Cavalier
4 Kor Firewalker
2 Transcendent Master
4 Devout Lightcaster
CARD]Joraga Warcaller[/CARD]. I would suggest taking out the Coat for Warcaller. It's tutorable and can be played early to combo out with Heritage Druid. As well as beats for 1 at the very least.
Joraga Treespeaker may or may not have a place but it looks like it could do some things here.
If you want to combo out like curio did the best I can tell you is to play Gilt-Leaf Archdruid. It combos since almost every elf in here is also a druid and you would be able to steal all lands so you don't have to worry about wrath like cards.
Elvish Hexhunter is still an option for a little while atleast.
Scattershot Archer appears to be a good sb slot since we should be expecting fae.
Joiner Adept should maybe be on your mind if you need to cast something out of color.
Mul Daya Channelers not likely the card for this deck. Maybe SB against Zoo or something?
Lastly is Rhys the Exiled It's really not a bad card and can really help in some matchups.
Edit:Quest for Renewal looks like something that could do well in an elf deck. What I don't know yet. Still working on that.
