It's just so boring is my problem with it. You hype up and build up to this big dark secret culminating in what could only be described as a wet fart of a card.
I hope that wizards has gotten enough Oath sales now that Eldrazi has completely destroyed the format, now they can ban it and get things back to some sense of normalcy.
I stopped playing after Khans, I couldn't keep playing for hours a night with college winding down, and honestly the community of people around me are really distasteful.
I now have only one EDH and modern deck, which I plan to keep for the future in case I get the urge to play again for whatever reason. I look back and regret a lot of the money I've sunk into the game, especially on pure chaff like Theros. I'm playing Hearthstone, and love the fact that I can dive into a game for a few minutes if I want to play with an amazing UI and no secondary market to tie up the value of cards.
I will say this isn't the most disappointing set I've been around to see. That distinction would go to Dark Ascension, Dragon's Maze and the entire Theros block. however, returning to a plane that I started playing magic in, and for how much people clamored to finally return to Zendikar, it sure is a snoozefest. The mechanics are all boring, allies don't interest me whatsoever either, and a lot of the meat of the set is uninspired.
If I'm going to buy any of the set it'll probably just be one box for fun, but otherwise I have no interest in wasting my money.
I wouldn't call this a bad card, it's more just so mind bogglingly boring, like a lot of cards in this set, especially the mythics for some reason. I'm sure everyone was totally hyped up when they announced Return to Zendikar for Dragonmaster Outcast to be a mythic once again.
We get these kinds of effects every new set, it's like R+D have a checklist now of things they need to print. Time walk effect that's overcosted and exiles itself, check. Big dumb hydra in green because we can't make interesting fatties anymore, check. Underpowered red mythic that sometimes is just zany because it fits in no other color? check.
I think everything really went downhill after Return to Ravnica, where they started to force the "guild" theme for the next few sets onwards, with Theros and the Gods, and Khans with the.. Khans. You knew what to expect from every set, and it's just become so boring.
I'm glad they didn't change the art at least, I love it too much.
I think this is the fist time outside of a core set we've seen a mythic reprint. Guess they had literally no idea what to give red this time around, and a big stupid unplayable enchantment might've made people too angry.
I feel as though this has to be an error on their part. They wouldn't make it a lottery where one guy's box was actually worth hundreds of dollars more than he paid for it. The god pack was reasonable because all the Gods really weren't as expensive as Goyfs or Bob.
