Dec 31, 2011ctaylor33 posted a message on Legacy BurnMade some changes after playing in my first Legacy tournament. I went 2-2, which isn't too bad. I almost won in my two losses but just ran out of steam, drawing into land after land when I just need another burn spell. I also had many burn spells countered by Daze and Force of Will in both of my losses. I sided in Red Elemental Blast but only saw one in either match. Without card draw, it is tough to get what you need.Posted in: ctaylor33 Blog
As a result of not seeing any artifacts worth destroying and not facing any aggro, I am tweaking the deck to be faster against control. Moved one Volcanic Fallout to the SB and dropped one Smash to make room for it. I removed Magma Jet all together since it felt underwhelming all night, although the scry would have been helpful in the games where I hit pockets of lands. I added a fourth Price of Progress because that card was amazing in all matchups. I only ran three due to availability but I was able to pick up the fourth I needed after the tournament. Lastly, I added 3 Flame Rift MB because the decks I played were all slow to deal damage so I can afford the life loss. The two extra damage FR provides over Magma Jet would have been the difference in almost all of my losses. -

+1 Keldon Marauders
+1 Hellspark Elemental
+1 Flameblast -
Dec 29, 2011I really like the balance of your list. In what MUs do you side in Pyrostatic Pillar? Also, is two GY hate cards in the SB enough? Lastly, how has playing 61 cards been for you?Posted in: Lactone Blog

In the deck tech portion, he says 2 Snapcaster feels like the right number in Benny's list.
This is what I consider draw-go:

This is the style of control I like to play but I feel like it would struggle against Gx Tron with such a slow clock. I guess Clique from the side helps.
For what it is worth, I have been playing Benny's list for a few weeks now and I would say Temple and Irrigated are much better than Mystic Gate and Prairie Stream. I used to play Mystic Gate but I would often have opening hands with Gate and one of the 4 brown lands. Temple is great with all the cantrips. Play Temple, then drop seas or Wall to draw after the scry. And Farmland is great late game when you are flooding out or really any time in the game when you just need to draw a card you set up off a Visions scry. Gotta love when your lands do more than just provide mana.
