There is a large cadre of people who will adore this card, and a larger group of people who will roll their eyes every time they have to sit down at a table with someone playing this.

I started foiling my list because of the release of the expeditions and not having much else to do under COVID, and I realized I did not really notice any tech for this deck come out of Zendikar. The one card I thought could work was Valakut awakening but it seems more cute than anything else. Likewise Agadeem's Awakening and Kazuul's Fury could provide some utility we didn't have otherwise, but awakening is to costly and Fury may be too corner case.

Did anyone have any finds in this latest set?

This would honestly make things worse, not better. In older formats having a variety of fetches, including in mono color decks, is a prominent strategy to protect against wasteland/stripmine effects. It is also common to run multiple named versions of these fetches so you are not blown out by a spyglass naming it. This just adds +1 to the count of fetchlands those strategies could have and further weakens the counter strategy to them. Take the budget aspect away from your Boggle deck and you'll see you now have access to 4 real fetches, plus this 5th fetch, which still means you are giving up some value if you only go the budget route.

It's more landfall, more delve fodder, and can still fetch up problematic cards like Mystic Sanctuary. You'll notice that the move WOTC has been making lately is away from this type of fetch and instead printing things like Fabled Passage or Prismatic Vista.

Seems fine in a deck that wants to use Siguardias aid style stuff, maybe Syr Gwyn. It's probably not as good as Jitte and some of the swords but that deck can probably find a spot for it.

There a source on Lucile anywhere? This is the first time I have heard it.

It's an efficient colorless beater with the ability to scale and resilience to spot removal. Those traits have been fairly well coveted for years in Magic, I suspect this guys will have a home in a bunch of places.

There is a spot for this in Pauper walls for sure.

Bloodghast this is not. For that matter Prized amalgam, Sliversmote ghoul, Ichord this is not either. I guess it will see play somewhere but it feels very grindy and not that great for a grindy card.

There are any number of modern decks that have no other strategy but to fetch into shocks. This guy on turn 2 as a 3/3
is not only gonna happen a lot bit it just means hes vulnerable to bolt (but so is so much else,) and he's gonna grow into a 5/5 and beyond with good certainty

T1 goblin guide into this is gonna be scary.

I think this is the most powerful card in the set by a mile. Nit a high bar for this set but still.

Where as deaths shadow is basically limited to deaths shadow lists, I can see this being run in just everyday grindy lists like jund. Not as good as goyf early, probably much better late game or in a topdeck war. Kicking it against a control match is also probably huge game.

Just tried Jund against RG Ponza in Modern for a few rounds. Scourge of the Skyclaves was a 3/3 or smaller for too long (for one notable game, Jund was at 20 life for the first 7 turns of the game).

Scourge is absolutely nuts late-game, but I need a suicidal aggro deck to make this worth playing early- or mid-game.

I dont imagine playing this turn 2 will always be the right call, but I don't think it's hard to believe by turn 2 both players have fetched and shocked at least once. You can control the loss of your own life pretty well and all you really need to do is hit once or twice for this thing to be a must answer.

    A slightly worse Adventuring Gear.

Not really though. Free equip is a big gain on turn 2 before you play a land.

I read it as STRONG MAD TREACHERY

This feels really strong. Counters + easy to turn on flying for 2 mana is a lot. On turn 3 its easily 3/3 flying with a fetch, 5/5 on turn 4? Totally punches above it's weight.

Modern jund might just have room for this. Going over the top with flying is likely worth it. It is very pushed.
