Can we talk about how many things we are getting from MH2 to bring this deck back to the forefront?
Endurance - Probably better than Faerie Macabre, and much preferable to hard cast. After a resolved LE it also removes your opponents bin so they are starting with 0 in the yard which can be relevant against dredge. Grief - Probably going to be a format staple from here on out but let's you clear quite a path for your combo turn without a mana investment, plus comes back after the LE to do it again Obsidian Charmaw - Possibly a strong sideboard card against Amulet Titan or Tron in addition to your fulminator mages since it can also hit on turn 2 Glimpse of tomorrow - Good Sandbag option if your opponent brings in a bunch of gravehate against you. Probably needs a build that can generate more permanents in play like Bant Sojourners or Shark Typhoon Scion of Draco - This is castable turn 2 if you fetch a triom turn oen and then a shock with the other types. Will probably drive a different style of deck but it is a lot of power for a lot of your cards. Mogg Salvage - Free sideboard artifact removal is good to prevent them from landing hate against you.
Just pointing out this actually caps at 6/6 with wastes. I really like it in the Goyf slot though. Can shrink Goyfs and slow graveyard strategies, is not dead to gravehate, and can even support your own goyf's growth or Madness cards.
There are not as many forests matter cards as there are swamps matter cards, or at least relevant ones, so this feels more tame to me.
I would find it hard to believe to think that any 4 or 5 color commander in green would not run this, especially 4 color since they do not have access to the world tree for fixing.
As someone who has played a bunch of pauper reanimator, I think that you can still get It that Betrays or Ulamog's Pathraiser out of the yard with this is damn good. Splash in some stuff to give it haste and it is hard to lose if you swing in that early.
Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar is low key an amazing card and I think it might surprise people. You can turn one her off Street Wraith which draws you the cookbook where you can either go the reanimator route or maybe use her as part of a Burning Inquiry build with arclights and Hallowed ones. Def getting a playset, the question is really extended art of retro frame. Im not sure you can put together a fully retro frame build though.
Card is good, I expect it to be a roleplayer in any sort of affinity shell, even as just a fun of copy over the first arcbound worker. On it's own it already dies to put 2 counters on a thing (I think?) and makes ravager that much better.
Maybe Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar isn't a real "Madness" card, but it's something like, "Pay [mana cost], Discard [some number of cards]: Put this card onto the battlefield from any zone."
Not sure how it would work, but that could be interesting and would at least work for Commander. I'd be kinda bummed if he couldn't be cast from the Command Zone in some way.
Isn't the storyline around that character that they actually were mad? It fixs if so. It also makes sense that they woulld print this into a set with cascade and with new Restore Balance style cards. Likewise the evoke for a pitch cards seem inline with our expectations of the set, though without flash we will see if they hold a candle to the last pitch cycle.
Now they just need to fix the fact that banning SSG hurt the deck in a real way.
