I kept, drew a Rishadan Port and had mangara-lock online on turn 4.
My Question is:
Would you keep this?
On one hand is seems really strong, Thalia, Stonforge and Mangara+Karakas.
On the other hand you lack Vial(Flickerwisp is weaker) and could only play two cards if you do not draw lands in the following turns.
were you on the play? I'd probably keep the hand either way, but I think it's even stronger if you're on the draw, since that gives you an additional chance to draw a land without interrupting your tempo
I don't think the image's trigger saves mangara from himself. I'll get a ruling on this with the local L3 next time
I am pretty sure it does. it should go like this
-put mangara's ability on the stack, targeting image
-image's triggered ability goes on the stack, and resolves first. image is sacrificed
-mangara's ability is countered on resolution due to no legal target, so he lives
2. I might not be articulating this very well, but we should not value Jitte as highly as our opponent. Jitte is better against D&T than probably any other deck in the format.
does anyone else disagree really strongly with this statement? Phyrexian Revoker, Mother of Runes and first strikers are all perfect against Jitte, and D&T plays more of those cards than any other deck in legacy
When I attend SCG I always put my DnT deck in a red box that says "Goblins" on it. People always assume they know what they're playing until I drop a Plains!
I use red sleeves and always open with Port -> Vial or Waste -> Vial when I can, just for this purpose
my one desire in Magic is to have a game where I open with Waste -> Vial, and have my opponent think "he's trying to trick me! clearly he's playing Merfolk"
Pros:
Survives Bolt/ Vendilion Clique
Can cast at instant speed
Don't need to wait until end of turn for some things
Cons:
Harder to get off of Vial
(Flickerwisp can be instant speed with vial)
Not waiting till EOT can hurt...
Costs 1 more
Flickerwisp has 10 times the utility of Restoration Angel, and costs less (in particular, it costs something that we won't feel bad about setting Vial to)
is it your first time reading set teasers or what

I wonder if Stoneforge Mystic would be a viable option? I've heard that card is reasonably good
edit: actually I am not 100% sure that that's true, but even if you're right it would be far too unwieldy to work in practice
you're welcome
warning for spam ~Lantern
that's not really a hatebear. it doesn't really do anything except clear blockers for a turn, which is an effect that I'll almost never want in D&T
edit: the one relevant application I can think of is against Sneak Attack, but that still doesn't make it a viable choice (compare to Revoker)
