I'm trying to withhold judgment until I see this in person, but I'm not super crazy about that art. Reminds me of a YuGiOh card, character with a nebulous sci-fi background. Which I guess works given the concept of the card, but oh well. I bet it looks amazing in foil, though.
Dumb name. I get that it fits the Magus cycle, but this name just feels like it's pushing it. What's next? Magus of Abrupt Decay? Magus of Fatal Push? It should be named Pondering Magi.
... Did you read the actual card? The thread title is not the card name. The card is Pondering Mage.
The problem is Gifts is used in Storm because there are redundant piles you can create where there is no "bad" way to split the cards. This is random in that it grabs the cards off the top.
When I saw there was a DailyMTG spoiler on the same day as the B&R announcement I allowed myself to hope they would unban SFM and include it in MH1, but that has not happened. Oh well, business as usual.
I mean, it has to be of a certain type, and only if they have no more than 1 of any color of mana in their cost, but basically yes. Also comboes well with Horde of Notions for Elemental tribal.
Edit: I was misremembering what Horde does, does not interact at all.

Yeah, limited fodder that calls back to a strong card, that's what I expect from the commons in this set. I'm ok with this.
You absolutely misread it. You can destroy 1 artifact, or 1 enchantment, or 2 artifacts, or 2 enchantments, or 1 artifact and 1 enchantment.

Was the Veil destroyed? I couldn't find that in the novel.
I haven't played a lot with my Mythic Edition I cards, but they have remained totally flat, which is really nice considering the outrageous price tag.
