Koth is our best threat. It's a 4/4 haste for 4 that evades almost all removal. If unanswered, it's basically a 3 turn clock. Chandra is better to stabilize (card draw, removal) but it can't realistically win the game by itself.
Regarding dropping Skred, I could see that if there aren't many creature based decks in your meta but it's good versus Jund, GW decks, Elves, Burn, Affinity, Humans, Merfolks, etc.

Nov 5, 201740-people tournament with 5 rounds and top 8 yesterday.Posted in: Control
Round 1: 2-0 vs Grixis Death Shadow
1-0: Thoughtseize removes P&K over Koth and Chandra but I draw another one. A second thoughtseize removes it again but I draw and play a third one. He counts the cards in his graveyard and pass so I immediately use the relic I draw and he never pressures me. Misplay from my part: I should have kept three mana open at all time to prevent him from using fatal push on the tokens. He still dies from damage in the airs and lightning bolts.
2-0: He plays a Liliana, the Last Hope that does nothing while Koth ultimates and I just kill everything he plays (Tasigur, Liliana, Snapcaster) then himself.
Comment: I believe GDS is a good matchup. We have removal for their threats and enough reach to finish them when they get too low by themselves.
Round 2: 1-1 vs Jeskai Control
0-1: 30 min game where he counters every threat I play, draws 8 with Revelation but he takes an eternity to kill me with.
1-1: Koth puts pressure early. He bounces it but bolt, bolt, bolt finishes the work.
1-1: we have 5 minutes to play game 3 and two Cryptic Commands buy him enough time to draw while I had lethal on board.
Comment: he said Skred was a bad matchup for him. it might be because he plays less counters than straight UW Control and his removal is mostly blank against us.
Round 3: 0-2 vs Abzan
0-1: I don't immediately Roast a turn 2 Tarmogoyf and a Thoughtseize removes the Roast. I take 15 from the Tarmo before I can deal with it and 2 lingering souls finish me.
0-2: I have a Mind Stone but the third land takes too long to arrive and I can't deal with Grim Flayer and 2 lingering souls again.
Comment: this is usually a good matchup. I'm a bit sad about my mistake game 1.
Round 4: 2-0 vs Storm
1-0: I draw and play three Relics. He remands everything I play (3 as well). He concedes when he tries to go off, fizzles because he needed a remand for Grapeshot and I exile everything he just played when he tries to Past in Flame.
2-0: I gain a ton of life thanks to Dragon's Claw. I give him an Empty the Warrens on Gifts Ungiven thinking I have enough Sweepers to take care of it when he plays it. He Grapheshots for 6, then Empty for 16 tokens. I wipe the board, stick a threat and kill him.
Comment: I feel like the matchup isn't so bad even though I was lucky in game 1. Dragon's Claw is very good against this deck.
Round 5: 2-0 vs Esper Control
1-0: Koth + Chandra + Blood Moon off Chandra makes short work of him. Koth kills planeswalkers easily (Gideon, Liliana) the turn after they come into play.
2-0: I remove Blood Moon from the deck and as I imagined, he still plays around it so he's a bit slow. Koth turn 3 works wonders. He uses Lost Legacy naming Chandra but it's too late and I ultimate Koth to wipe his board then finish him.
Comment: a rather good matchup. He doesn't deal well with planeswalkers, his removal is blank against us (PtE, FP) and his threats are slow.
I finish 9th and misses the top 8 by an inch. Next time!

I don't hate it. It can be either removal or it can give us a card. It might be alright. It's another card for me to preorder regardless for testing. If anything we can use it to smooth out draws maybe even pickup a missed land drop.
I like it a lot. It's a small removal which can also cantrips and it has a sweet interaction with Eternal Scourge.
May 26, 2015While her ability is good defensively, you can also use it to feed your graveyard or reuse ETB abilities.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Mulldrifter cancels the cost of her ability. Archeomancer allows you to get one of your cards back. Deep Analysis is a good candidate to discard.

I haven't read the book, just played the "beta". Is there enough material compared to 3.5/Pathfinder/4?

Tooth and Nail can be played fairly (I use it to grab Avenger of Zendikar + Regal Force). The RC has said that they don't ban cards because of their busted uses but because of their nominal uses.

The docs said the tumor looked like a mushroom and the cancer was in the cap and not the stem. The stem was attached to his stomach so that was all very low impact. He names all his afflictions and this one is "buster" because he thought it looked like the alien that busted out of John Hurt's chest in Alien. He's really bummed that he can't keep it since he normally gets to keep the stuff they remove (I believe his prostate is in a jar in his bedroom). I was promised pictures but don't really want them.
I'm happy he's doing better
Your comment reminds me of a guy who decided to taste his own arm after it was cut off ^^

To be fair, the rumor mill activity is very dependent on the spoilers season. Wait a few months and it will go back to the top.
Apr 14, 2015So, those are a rarity indeed:Posted in: Commander (EDH)
- Only 6 mono white creatures have reach.
- There are only 5 mono white elves.
- There is only 1 mono white elf with reach
This card is awesome **

I meant other than the obvious ones. I assume most people speak at least one of those in europe (vs north america where speaking only one language is the huge majority). But i meant countries where i wont feel bad by making people speak the language i speak rather than talking to them in theirs.
You can try the Netherlands and Italy.
In Amsterdam, they are accustomed to English and French speaking tourists and the city is really cool. It has a unique atmosphere.
Italian is close enough to French that you can read and decipher most common texts. They also have a tourism history and they speak english well.

Come to Paris
(And we also have cool museums and old buildings if you change your mind!).

We are not the red-haired stepchild who should be shunned by the RC and its followers. We are you 2-3 years from now: players deeply committed to the game with a firm understanding of good/efficient deckbuilding whom enjoy games with players at our level.
This is one of the most laughable things I've read on this forum.
Yeah Especially directed to the mod with 14k posts. Sure, this guy must not have much Magic experience!

You could have an alternate Doomsday wincon with extra style points.

Except the Panther has the flash we're looking for, a very impressive body for it's CMC, and it's Sun Titanable. Panther is a card I've actually run, while this guy, who I've actually never seen before, just doesn't make the cut.
English might not be my first language but I think we agree: there are no reasons to play the Paladin rather than the Panther.
Apr 7, 2015If you are interested in the capacity, I see no reason to play this over Fleetfoot Panther.Posted in: Commander (EDH)
If you are not, I see no reason to play this at all
