Semi-off-topic : I wouldn't mind having some info on the event, or at least on the shop, always nice to know where another belgian EDH-community is located
(If you would give me some notice, use pm )
I second that!
On topic: I think zur can be made for less than $50 and still be as busted as ever. But that deck would also kind ruin the purpose of the tournament (attract new players)
I think the hidden gems thread is also a great resource for great budget friendly cards.
Thanks The only problem with this deck is that well timed graveyard removal or a wastelanded coffers can make this deck run out of steam (as with most reanimator decks). But it can get a brutal opening fairly consistent.
One tip, never play balthor before hitting 7 mana, but you probably already knew this
I agree with Duplicant, I have one lying around and will try him out. I am also putting Decree of Pain on my wishlist as I am writing this.
Suggestions are welcome but please also suggest what to take out. I already took out a lot of amazing cards out of this deck because of a lack of space.
Candelabra of Tawnos is erratad to say {X}, {T}: Untap {X} target lands. You need to have a way to consistently untap it and tap it. Yes you can generate large amounts of mana but not infinite with just a land that taps for >2
Candelabra of Tawnos was never erratad, it always worked the way it works now. If you look carefully you can see in its type line that it is a mono artefact. Which means, under the old rules, that you can only use its ability once. The oracle wording is just an update to the new rules. Your point about the OP being wrong is still valid though.
Pretty Ridic play earlier today. I was piloting Oona, Queen of the Fae against my friends Nath, of the Gilt-Leaf.
Turn 1: Island, Sol Ring, Grim Monolith, Pass
Turn 2: Island, Power Artifact
Turn 3: Island, Stroke of Genius(Drawing my entire deck), Mycosynth Lattice, Oona, Deck him.
You do know you might as well have decked him with Stroke of Genius right away? Or did you do deck hi with oona for style points? In that case, great job.
Until recently with my balthor deck I never really bought cards to optimize my decks. I have a fairly large collection so I had enough cards to create casual fun decks. I have lists but since they are far from optimal I never really thought about putting them on mtgsalvation.
With the eldrazi titans I am certain it is true. They have a triggered ability which uses the stack, and that ability can only trigger/resolve after traumatize has finished resolving.
Progenitus on the other hand has a replacement effect, so i am not sure if the action of putting cards in the graveyard is interrupted by that effect. But I guess that could be the case for the same reason your opponent can see all your cards if you brainstorm with jace2.0 when you have a vampire nocturnus in play. When you draw three cards you actually draw them one by one (and the effect of the nocturnus kicks in after each draw). The same is probably true for milling.

How did he pay for all the upkeep triggers?

And as suggested, graveborn muse is also a great spirit. Just check out //gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&color=+@(+[B">)&subtype=+[%22Spirit%22]"]this list for all black spirits.
EDIT: Woops, didnt see this thread is 8 months old....
1. Thraximundar (was my favorite for a long time)
2. Rofellos ramp (not highly optimized and no infinite combos)
3. 99 land.dec (disassembled, only played with it once when the deck was new)
4. Zur (disassembled because it was boring)
5. Brown eldrazi
6. Mind Control
7. Balthor reanimate (optimizing this now and its my favorite deck to play link to decklist)
8. Teneb recursion (not finished, but my favorite colors)
I want all my creatures to be black for balthor, so all the eldrazi are out.
already have Pestilence Demon, dont like Myojin of Night's Reach because it is bad with reanimation and I will take a look at Butcher of Malakir.
I dont want to count on sac outlets if I dont have plenty of them or enough tutors to look for them.
All Is Dust, Oblivion Stone and especially Decree of Pain are already on my whishlist.
Any suggestions what I could cut for them?
